Two different type cars, and maybe the DTS was the 275 HP engine and wasn't trying. The CTS-V will whoop a 300C SRT8. The DTS would whoop an Imperial if they still had one. Aside from 0-60 times, let's talk about reliability and repair costs for a Caddy vs. MOPAR. End of story.
The 300C is significantly quicker. The best 0-60 time I've seen was a 2005 running 5.3 seconds to 60 and a 13.9 quarter. No V-6 CTS can ever hope to run that. Don't forget as well that the 2009 C has an updated Hemi and no makes over 360 hp/395 lb-ft. I've driven both as well (well a Charger, but that's the same thing really).
The difference when comparing the DTS to the 300C is that both are large sedans, and here the DTS costs much more AND is much slower.

I have a DTS performace and i dont think it would've been left that far behind in a race cause its pretty quick, I just think the guy driving it in this video figured he wouldnt try and race the 300C
The 300C is great: faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile (5.6 and 14.1 vs 6.9 and 15.1 of the L37 DTS). But that's the LD8 Northstar (275hp).
The larger displacement 5.7L vs. the 4.6L on the 'lac; and 340 hp vs. 275 on that DTS make it rather unfair.
The L37 Northstar has 292hp and a more aggressive final drive ratio -- making it a beast at around 80MPH -- a more interesting race. Looks like your grandpa's DTS met up with the fuel cutoff at 111MPH on the LD8 models.
