You are incorrect. Stefan Everts did compete at Bercy on a 125cc in 1990 and perhaps another year. He won a heat or 2 but no title. Emig won "Prince of Bercy" in 90'. Everts has also competed in a few SX events in the USA (early 90's)... he never won. Everts also competed in an MX national in USA... He didn't win. He won a USGP when nobody big was there. I'm not disparaging Everts, but don't make him out to invincible.

Stewart is not retiring, he is just going to an SX contract only - L&M is not going to do any of the nationals. Now Stewart said himself that he is going to do a select outdoor races (or he would like to) and if he does, he will be racing under the Factory Yamaha Rig. But you are right, as of now, Stewart will not do another Full season of Nationals. He will still do the MXoN though.
