Merveilleux film dans la Venise du Nord et d'une lumière laiteuse et velouté à l'instar de celle que l'on rencontre dans l'oeuvre du peintre Vermeer dont le film se plait à nous raconter quelques anecdotes. La musique toute de subtiles nuances se marie splendidement à cette prodigieuse oeuvre cinématographique. Un 'must'.

This story is fiction, so we don't know if there ever was a Griet. But this theme is so lovely and haunting. Reality exists in this even more haunting painting that, thankfully, was not destroyed in the madness of World War II. Whoever the real girl, the model for this timeless painting, really was, I guess this must remain one of history's mysteries. But she survives, and her amazing eyes still look out at us through centuries. I love this movie and this glorious theme.
