  • Television has moved on from those invulnerable caricatures. It's not the A team any more or the Dukes of Hazard where a simply rendered archetype follows a set pattern every episode. If Superman only belongs in comic book form so as not to embellish his legacy then that's a separate argument. Having said that, Smallville was a soap opera that hardly rates a mention in the recent golden age of television

  • Batman didn't have a flourishing movie career in 2000. It had been three years since the disastrous "Batman & Robin," and five years until the highly successful "Batman Begins."

  • @HulkSmashTime But the WB turned the creative team down when they initially went to them with a story about the beginning of Batman. The reason was that the WB had big plans for Batman and they'd expected him to keep making money for them.
