You missed something important. I hear christianists, jewists and islamians saying over and over, in an attempt to segregate themselves from this disgusting notion that they might be related to animals and not that special after all, that god created 'us' in his image.
This begs the question, before creation, what use did god have for a humanoid body? You know, like a mouth and anus, a penis and testicles, two arms, legs, eyes, ears, lungs, nipples, etc, etc, etc....?
Also, about the Heavens. The bible states the "The Circle of the Earth" It's not a literal sense, it doesn't say "The Earth is a circle" It's more a perspective analogy.
*I don't know if the comment already posted, it's glitching* There is a scripture in the bible that claims it's not an Earth Day. I don't know it because I'm not a regular Christian at all nor do I read the bible. Using logic: He is God. He does not live on Earth, therefore the sun does not take a cycle and limit his creation and resting to the day and night on Earth.
Earth took more details, and more love of course :P. Might I also mention that he is God? Also, stars are being born, you assume he made every single star at once. He set the process to take care of itself, like all things. Even if he didn't he's a God, he can do anything with no limit to his power. The bible claims the moon is a luminary, as does science. I also hope you realize that "one day" in the bible isn't equal to our Earth day.
Where do you get that one bible day isn't one earth day. What passage in the bible even hints at that? Before we realized the age of the universe, who thought that one bible day doesnt equate to an earth day? Anyone? Where in the bible does it say anything about a day being different? and if 1 day is more than a day, than what does that say about bible years? People who lived 100s of years really lived millions? When in the bible does god denote the change from "bible days" to "earth days"?
The bible isn't one Earth day is a scripture in the bible. I don't know it off the top of my head considering I don't read the bible. It is a well known fact by regular Christians. No, Earth days were different. He is God, he does not live on the Earth, therefore the sun does not limit his days to night and day.
I regret to inform you there is no such scripture. This is just a ridiculous interpretation people started having once they realized that the 6,000 year old earth idea was going down the can. They did the same with flat earth and geocentricism. I am sorry you were misinformed.
PS: I am not sure by your comment if you are or are not a christian, but if you are a christian, I definitely suggest reading the bible in its entirety instead of trusting others.
Yes, my mistake, it wasn't a scripture per se. It was figured out using the scriptures. No it wasn't when they realized that the 6,000 year old earth idea was going down the can, that is true. Carbon dating has been proven to be fail-proof as it has made countless mistakes. But I digress. I use logic along with the details that God wasn't going on by Earth days. First off, he didn't created the sun before the earth day ended, so how could it be an Earth day? No, I'm not Christian.
Again I would like to see where it hints at the days not being 1 day.
The earth is not 6,000 years old, we can date trees farther back than that.
Carbon dating ISN'T used to date the age of the earth. It has flaws like it can't be used in a place contaminated with carbon, but scientists know this so they DON'T use it in those situations. Its accurate for what we use it for
The whole sun created after days is an absurdity and is commonly used against god.
The sun created after isn't an absurdity because there was light beforehand. I have given you all the "days figured out using scriptures" below, enjoy! I am not familiar with tree dating or what method they use, please enlighten me. :O.
Furthermore we use Argon-Argon or Potassium-Argon to date the earth along with numerous other methods which all point to the earth being older than 6,000 years. Every single piece of evidence we have EVER collected points to the earth being older than 6,000 years.
Haha, you misunderstand. They claim that MEN has been around 6,000 years, not the Earth. Of COURSE the Earth has been around 6,000 years. Sorry I forgot to mention that!
More still. You can't be a Young Earth Creationist and think the biblical days were longer than "earth days" The whole point of the earth days are different from bible days, is to make it so the billions of years universe conforms with the bible.
How long do you think "bible days" are? It can't be too long if you think it fits within your 6,000 year mark. The Days argument is in supportive of an OLD earth.
You are literally arguing both sides of the field and it is weir ding me out.
The bible days are normal Earth days. The days in which God created the Earth are not Earth days, therefore there is no such thing as "bible days". Yes, I'm sorry, I misunderstood your 6,000 year post. MEN has been around for 6,000 years, not the Earth. Earth has been around for much much much much much more haha. I'm not arguing both sides of the field, again I am sorry. Haha, : )
Sorry about the comment before this, I had started writing it before you posted your clarification. It just seems ridiculously weird that someone would be attacking carbon dating in any other context than young earth creation. I mean it is a ridiculous argument to begin with on the grounds that carbon dating has nothing to do with dating the earth, but that is at least the common misconception.
Ahh, sorry, I found it, here it is: The flexible use of the word day is to express units of time varying in length is clearly evident in the Genesis account of creation. Therein is set a forth a week of dix creative days followed by a seventh day of rest. The week asigned for observance by the Jews under the law of the convenant given to them by God was a miniature copy of that creative week. (EXodus 20:8-11)
Sorry for all the posts, haha. Continued: The 7th day, however, does not have this ending, indicating that his period during which god has been resting from his creative works toward the earth, continued on. At Hebrews 4:1-10 the apostle Paul indicated that God's rest day was still continuing in his generation, and that was more than 4,000 years after that 7th day rest period began. This makes it evident that each creative day, was at least thousands of years in length.
The religious encyclopedia Vol. I p. 613 states: "The days of creation were creative days, stages in the process, but not days of twenty-four hours each. - P. Schaff, 1894.
@ "Earth took more love". So you are saying that your god isn't powerful enough to create everything at once. Because earth required so much love it took him several days to make it? Wouldn't it make more of sense that god just set everything in motion from a singularity like I don't know The big bang? What in gods power prevents him from starting things from the big bang? All powerful and all knowing means that he doesn't need a night (Or millions in your case) to think things over.
What's wrong with thinking things over? He did create Earth first supposedly. Whilst he was making earth first, he was creating the laws that would pertain to the Earth, and then proceeded to created the stars in one day.
If you know everything there is no need for thought, you have nothing to think about, you would know exactly how you wanted the universe to act. If you required thought, you wouldn't be all knowing.
@" You can't be loving and create everything at once."
Actually, you kind of have to if you fit within the realm of All Powerful. If you cant be all loving and create everything, well you just aren't "all powerful" and I just don't think Christians are ready to accept that their god isn't infinitely powerful. Although to be honest I would say that he is pretty much demonstrated his incompetence in the "all loving" category many times over.
What I meant is that of course he can... but think of it this way...Today in society we can make things significantly faster. Example, factories. Mass production was ground breaking as you could mass produce your product, but it's lower quality. Compare it to a master craftsman's same product. Takes longer, but better. Now, thinking outside of that, God COULD have done that, but he decided to put all his love into it. And maybe it was fun. God is all powerful. I hope Genesis is clear now : )
And of course, if there are any other concerns of yours about the bible. Message me.
AND. I just researched something. Know you mentioned the scripture? "And he hangeth over the CIRCLE of the Earth?" Well turns out, the old hebrew word for CIRCLE, actually translates into sphere as well. Maybe not in English, but that's how it was in Hebrew. So they KNEW it was a sphere. : ) Take care!
He designed photosynthesis in the first place. He made the sun, light, darkness, and any substance that plants might require to grow. There was light before he let the sun rule over it, so even if God had made the laws beforehand, photosynthesis could still occur. : )
God created the laws of physics and the laws of light and darkness. To limit him to those laws is trite. You are wrong. He's GOD. Not a noob who doesn't know science, he created the factors in which science studies today.
This would mean that originally it was both light and non light. Most Christians would agree that god follows the law of non contradiction, or something cannot be itself and not itself at the same time. "A" cannot be both "A" and Not "A" at the same time. A Chair cannot be made entirely out of wood and not entirely out of wood at the same time. This has nothing to do with physics, it has to do with logic.
Side note, Gen 1:3 god ceates light, Gen 1:4, god seperates light from dark. After that, he makes the sun and moon to "rule over the day and night and to divide light from dark (Gen 1:16-19)... Why are two creation descriptions given for the same thing? Also, Gen 1:27, god creates man and woman in his own image, then Gen 2:21, god creates woman from Adam's rib. Which was it? Gen 2:4-8 god creates man BEFORE there is vegetation, making it the 3rd, or 2nd day... Not the sixth. Creationism... Oi.
Yep Genesis 1 and 2 definitely contradict each other. Pt 2 will be on Genesis 2, although i am not going to cover too much over the contradictions. Thanks for your comments
Regarding your comment, Sack42, about woman being created twice. Hebrew folk legend actually does call the first woman Lilith. She is not subservient to man and becomes a demon who seduces men. Also, if god created man before vegetation, what would man eat? Or would he just starve because of the oversight?
Nope. Created light. Light is made, God seperates light from dark. The sun is to rule the day, which will be the main source of light. The bible repeats itself, that isn't a contradiction. God creates man in his own image, (in plain english, his mind). God creates woman from Adam's Rib. Gen 1:27 "And God proceeded to created the man in his image, in God's image he created him; male and female, he created them." Grammar plays a role, interpret correctly next time please.
Please read Gen 2:1-7. See how it starts? With creation already being complete, THEN with NO man around to tend to everything, god made him. Syntax plays a role, read correctly next time.
He's God, why does he need man to tend to anything? Plants take care of themself. Please interpret and use common sense next time. Or, bring it on some more.
Well, yes, that's a pretty good point... Touchè. Anyway, I was just quoting what Gen 2 says behind the reason for god popping man out of the ground... Which seems completely redundant now. Maybe he just wanted to see what two people "in his image" getting it on would look like. Kind of like watching yourself masturbate in the third person, which is just weird.
