@amajeet It can mean different things. For example, you must provide services or whatever you do for a living if you want money in return. If its knowledge, then you must give your time and effort to learn. In other words, you are always putting something in in order to get something out. That is why he also says "there is no such thing as something for nothing." I hope this helped you at least a little.

This book was an awesome blessing!

Most people misinterpret it and always come up with the wrong answer as to what the secret is.

Even after knowing the secret, there is still a process that will come with it and new challenges.

After about 7 years after reading this book it hit me like a ton of bricks. Ever since, I never spoke it or named it less we teach the unprepared or create another Hitler. That Gift can be taken for granted to produce great evil as well as a great life of wealth.

This is the first time I've heard this message from Napoleon Hill himself. Always thought that he is a proponent of self belief to obtain selfish means. Now I realise that his idea for "think and grow rich" is not focused on getting rich per se. Rather, I interpret it as a universal principle that we possess gifts from birth and how we make use of our inborn talents for the greater good of the people around us and riches will manifest in our lives as we enrich the lives of others.

I'd rather take it a bit less fantastical, and moreso, quit making excuses, focus your ambition to your goals, lay out an action plan, set milestones... and just *do* it. That's common sense.

A lot of what Hill is repeating re: Carnegie's "two envelopes" sounds like Oxford-Group talk, which got recycled into AA/NA.

Really, it's "to make a million, you must spend a million.". To earn what you desire, you must make sacrifice and a clear plan of action, & stay the course.

Brian Kim's book The Hidden Secret in Think and Grow Rich explains EXACTLY what the secret was that Hill mentioned in his book. He proves it with the clues Hill provides and points out where it is in every chapter. And it isn't LOA either :)

Yes Jason. It's an awesome book! I love how he proves it and the example he gives. He's really good at connecting all the dots and making it easy to understand.

The crazy thing is when you realize you applied The Hidden Secret too without even realizing it.

IMHO, it's better than LOA because Kim's work is more logical. It makes sense in the real world.

Isn't Napoleon's secret The Self Image? I thought thats what he meant by being swept onto success, someone with the correct mindset would not have to force anything and therefore be swept onto success. The Law of attraction is merely part of the Self Image philosophy, The law of Attraction does nothing unless you have the correct self image to grasp the oppurtunities it will bring you.

I agree, mindgarden...Hill's impact can never be quantified, it's so great. Sure he grew his financial bank account, but imagine what he added to his karmic/spiritual bank account through the positive impact his books have had on so many people's lives!

I'm confused why he asks "Not for more riches..." In my understanding of The Secret, you need to ask for what you want, believe you will get it, and then receive it with all your heart. The basis of the movie is from Wallace D. Wattles and his book the Science of Getting Rich.

If you ask "not for more riches" you will get more riches (just as if you ask to get out of debt you will get more debt). But I don't understand Napolian Hill's choice of the the word "not." I need further study.

Is anybody reading "The Law Of Success In Sixteen Lessons?" That book is more powerful than "Think & Grow Rich." What's scary is...Think & Grow Rich is a great book, but it was meant to be a watered-down version of The Law Of Success. I really suggest people read "The Law Of Success In Sixteen Lessons."

Kevin trudeau says "THE LAW OF SUCCESS IN 16 LESSONS" is much more powerfull than "THINK AND GROW RICH" because think and grow rich has most of the key elements taken out of it because the super wealthy at the time did not want this information revealed to the public so they pulled the book off of the market and later think and grow rich was published with most of the key elements taken out of it.

Napoleon Hill is a classic.

He was helped out by W Clemet Stone towards the end of Hill's life to re-spark his speaking career and to regain some of the royalties from Think and Grow Rich. Somehow he lost the rights to his famous book.

I'm not sure if Hill's estate gets any royalties.
