I play harp the other way round, with the low notes to the right..does this make a diff to tongue blocking tech? just wondered..does it matter if reeds r 'upside down'?? ne1 got ideas? also does ne1 know other harp players who play this way? some1 told me little walter did...this similarity ends there..haha
bin usin 'pucker' tech for years..finding it hard to get it..!! help!! :o) its the shuffle 'rhythm' i really wanna nail..
Good observation, I use pull ons and pulls to attack and decay
the notes. However, I don't think I am bending
1 draw, which is the flat 5th degree. So I am just using the 5th for a moment. I would not use the V roman numeral to express this, as that is reserved for chords, rather than a quick little effect like a pull-on.
I started playing about two weeks ago. I was reading all kinds of instructional material but getting nowhere. Two days ago, when I was just about ready to give up, I stumbled across these videos. Now I'm playing like an old pro.
hey jon, guitar player here who started playing harp with ur rock and blues book vol. 1 about 4 months ago. great stuff, but really, how and when you should u tongue-block? is it ok to just use it on splits and with slaps or do you need it for riffs, cuz those little walter riffs just seem to sound better with the tongue.
I think it's a matter of personal taste and what you are most comfortable with. If if you like the sound, and can get the sound, use it. I disagree about Walter.
Awesome Jon, i really enjoyed this lesson!!! Thank you Rusty Bergandine
