  • Although some comments spoke of the current status of Coney Island and the park. This page was very helpful to my paper.

  • @no1ladymst glad it was useful for your paper! thanks for watching!

  • What a time that must have been - dangerous rides, no fear of lawsuits and dressing up to go to the amusement park. Fabulous post - thank you.

  • @SwankyCub thank you for watching! though its main setting is another amusement park, you may want to check out kevin baker's book "Dreamland". it creates an exceptionally vivid picture of coney island "back in the day".

  • @SwankyCub thank you for watching!

  • Coney island used to be so much better before. Now it's crap. Astroland is gone, Steeplechase is gone. Luna park is a little over-rated, and Dino's park is all for little children. The Wonder Wheel and Cyclone are the best rides at the park. I just can't wait for the scream zone. It's really sad what happened to Steeplechase. :( Also they should rebuild the classic wooden roller coasters.

  • @07Disneygrl thank *you* for watching!

  • A most informative video.....Thanks for all your work and hopefully someday it will again be a place we all want to go and enjoy

  • @amf1932 thanks much!

  • I have been going to CI since the early 70's, it has such a unique feel to it, as much as the great city its in. Unfortunately there are plans to redevelop the area, its smaller sister park, Astroland, is no more. But it has everything an old time amusement park should have, the beach ,Nathan's hot dogs, freak shows and easy access.

  • i'd like to believe the great thing about coney island is that no matter what happens to it, it will always be "the people's playground". thanks much for watching and commenting!

  • You did a great job! The buildings are gone but you have done a brilliant job documenting the past. Thanks

  • thank you!

  • and btw...I was born in Coney Island in what was once the Half Moon Hotel. It was converted to a hospital (Harbour Hospital) and then it became the Jewish Home for the aged. I was always so happy to see it in old photos, but sadly the salt air took its toll. First they had to remove the copula and then sadly they leveled the building. Oh well :(

  • lol

  • @juniorhellscream hows it funny?
