  • Knowing if a company is gay friendly doesn't affect whether I go there or not. Plus, on a side note, about the whole GLBT thing. If someone is gay and is transgendered and are still attracted to someone of the same-sex, wouldn't they then be straight and no longer part of the gay community? :)

  • you are sooo gay! i like you jeje, you are funny

  • Prejudice is not the same as Miscreant ...!

Who do You Want Guard Your Little "Lambs" a Wolf or the Shepard...?

  • you are SOOOOO CUTE!!!!

  • That's not very nice, nancyboyfromnyc.

Are you a christian? I thought Jesus taught us to love our neighbors like ourselves. Don't you love yourself?

You think we're all weak? I have a gay friend who kicks in doors in Iraq to bust insurgents. Believe me, give a rifle to a Bitchy queen like him, and you've got some VICIOUS combat power honey!!!!

  • I think it's good that they think it's important enough to put the sticker up. They're showing support for the Gay community and that can only be a positive thing. Though I don't think it would make much difference to me either. It would put a smile on my face though. :)

  • lol i like 3.37! :)

  • that flag thing is like they were saying that they are black friendly and that they let black people get in... give me a break!!!

  • thanks for the update Rob...must buy a t.shirt this week...what is the shirtless guy flash thing that comes in at 3.36...thought i was seeing things....please explain!

    take care

  • >> But I do resent gays (a minority) imposing their will will on the majority.

Since they're not asking that you be forced to marry someone of the same gender, I'm not clear on exactly what you think is being imposed.

If you really want to look at imposition, Proposition 8 is a textbook case. It codifies into law what obviously has its roots in christian dogma. It's saying, "you can't do this because of my religious beliefs." If that's not imposition, tell me what is.

  • What a Bullshit argument .... you're simply projecting. Look up the word Fascism in a Websters and tell me Who's being a Fascist here. No one is forcing you to be gay married ... you life is unchanged from what it always is.. your law striping another citizens protected rights in being free to marry their loved one IS fascism

  • Before prop 8, gays already had the legal rights to marriage. California's constitution did not specify the genders of the marital parties. Prop 8 wasn't about protecting marriage, it was about taking away the rights gays had under the legal definition according to the California Constitution. This would be like men voting to take away women's right to vote or a run for election or like protestants voting against Catholic's freedom to practice Catholicism.

  • Heterosexual marriage is being imposed on gays not the other way around. Gays arent trying to force heterosexuals to marry same-sex partners nor are they trying to force conservative churches to host gay-weddings. The only way gay marriage is imposed on heterosexuals is if gays make constitutional amendments supporting only same-sex marriage and outlawing opposite sex marriage. Prop 8 does this to gays. THAT AIN'T RIGHT!

  • This amendment not only keeps gay couples from being married but also from having the protections and privileges at the state and federal level. Gays (the minority) do not have political, social, no numerical power to pose any kind threat to heterosexual marriage. Gay couples make up less than 1.4% of the California population in 1.2% of the United States population. They have little power and a lot of stigma.

  • Anyone that sees gays as a minority is pretty intollerent in my eyes. I'm not gay but gay people don't want to impose there will they just want to have the right to mary the one they love. And this wouldn't have the least bit of effect on you. this is just because you think it's wrong. You probably think a loveless marriage between a man and a woman is better than two woman or two men who love eachother with all there heart. X peace

  • It's been decided. Unfortunately Prop. 8 has been upheld by the court. It's still in effect.

  • I absolutely support any venue that is gay friendly. We have to support those that are enthusiastic about getting our business, partly to help our own & partly to slap down those businesses that don't have our interests in mind.

In addition, I always try to see the gay movies being made, no matter how small or independent they are. The only way those movies will continue to be made is if we show the corporate types that there is a market for those products.

  • I try to give GLBT friendly businesses my support through business whenever I can.

  • Hopefully California will change it, but I doubt it I, they should just allow the people who married before the ban to keep their marriage. I wouldn't stop me from going to a place if didn't have a rainbow sticker etc, but maybe I might be a little more open.

  • i'd be more likely to shop in a store that uses subliminal techniques such as your 3:36 workout shot. lol

  • Always great to see you buddy!

    Thank you for the update!!

  • I'm actually MORE likely to boycott a Non-GLBT Friend business, like Wal*Mart, which is a very non-gay friendly chain of retailers in the USA. I not going to shop somewhere just because it is gay friendly.

And I KNOW Prop 8 will eventually get overturned. If not on Tuesday, then some other time in the future.

  • i'm also serious, though, about being troubled at my own fascination with that one frame of video.

i admire the thoughtfulness and intelligence of your 'message' vlogs. i also appreciate that you've given up some of your privacy to share your happy, healthy gay life and relationship with us (yeah, i know it's edited for tv. but still) it's so important, especially for young people, to know that's possible.

oh, well, i guess it's just human, isn't it, this messy stew of pride and prurience?

  • i hate to take away from rob's video on serious topics, but i'm quite certain of the identity of the mystery torso with the barbell and peek-a-boo nipple... (and quite ashamed of the time i wasted doing the detective work necessary to figure it out!) and you know we're never seeing the rest of that video.... ;-)

  • Who do think it was? :P

  • rob, don't you know that everyone's seen those nudes of you that your ex posted on the internet? (jk, everyone! don't message me and beg for the url!)

i think it was either you, or someone who has a mole in the exact same place as you do on your upper left arm... ;-) nice curls, by the way.

  • its a really nice body whoeva it is, (although i think its probs u rob)

  • i am totally more wanting to go to a place that announces that their friendly rather thatn go into a place and be segrigated against

  • I think we should definitely support businesses that openly back our community. One must understand that in many places here in the US, a business that displays the rainbow colors may in fact be taking a risk by being overt with their support. Of course, it goes without saying that if they have bad customer service I probably wont go back. I also travel frequently and I often utilize the rainbow colors to choose a coffee shop, store, or restaurant if Im not familiar with the city.

  • While I think that it great that they would announce they are GLBT friendly, I would have to agree with you that I would not be more likely to visit them then another store that sell the same product by myself. If I have someone with me then for a Pub or bar I would be more likely go there then to one that has not announced they are GLBT friendly. You always have to consider your safety, and sometimes I become a bit to friendly when I am drinking as my boyfriend will tell you.

  • One point not to overlook primarily is that if a store has adverts promoting itself being accommodating to gay people, and another does not, you need to go upon the supposition you don't know how well the other store's staff treats GLBT persons until you've been there. So you mentioned that it doesn't matter to you, while I would like to alternately point out it should, ideally. We can give the benefit of doubt on other matters. Those who outright tell you: Hey... I'm like you! COUNT to me...

  • Here in California, I would go out of my way to the shops that are not afraid to display that they are gay friendly.

  • I appreciate businesses that are willing to publicly support glbt rights, and I make an effort to support them. Not that you'd see any rainbow stickers in the town where I grew up. Anyone who put one in his window there would be sweeping up glass the next morning.

  • Very well said please join my family in protesting all over the world on tuesday please come out and yell to the world that we arnt going to be treated different any more

  • As for Prop 8, I think its insulting that these straight people think they have the right to decide our fates as to whether or not we can get married. Who are they anyway? Maybe we shouldn't allow them to get married without our OK! The nerve of these SOBs!

  • Well, that was odd. I noticed what looks like a sub-luminal clip at 3:36 in this posting, where a shirtless guy, (presumabIy Rob) is lifting weights. Getting back to the point of the posting though, yes, I would be more likely to patronize a store or business that made it clear it was gay friendly. I am especially supportive of gay & lesbian owned businesses.

  • I don't think it matters whether they announce it or not. To me, it kinda feels like an insult. You don't walk past a bar and see and black sticker with the word friendly beside it. We're all people and we should have the right to go anywhere, and expect the exact same service as everyone else.

  • I would be more inclined to shop with a company that advertises Gay -Friendly. I personally think it CAN BE a libility that they do not HAVE to take, so I appreciate it. Of course it CAN generate more business but is also a risk.

  • 3:37 <3 lol

I raelly hope they prop 8 goes away

  • When I hear GLBT-friendly I think of the scales that they support the community against discrimination policy/ initiatives. I am more likely to purchase from advertisers of that much like the owner of Domino's is very anti-gay and poured lots of money into Prop 8 and Focus on the Family and I stopped buying from them. I think it's brave of companies to admit it like Disney w/ it's gaydays they take a lot of slack and threats of boycotts and the power of the purse goes a long way in equality.

  • You're exactly right, and like you, I stopped buying pizza from Dominos Pizza when I found out about their anti-gay beliefs and practices.

  • Exactly and being a supervisor at my on-campus job and friends with a lot of people who make orders on our campus as well as a volunteer at the school's information center I always steer people to more gay friendly places even if it's a little more money. Yay for small uses of power!

  • On the flipside, the christian right has threatened organized boycotts against Disney more than once, I believe, but to their chagrin, it got them nowhere.

  • Exactly. That's why I say that to take a GLBT friendly stance is a risk. But then again, who can keep away from Disney? :)

  • I'm hoping for the best!

  • i get those emails :)

  • Hopefully everyone will be able to look westward and see the huge California-shaped cloud of smoke that will be prop 8 going down in flames.

  • it'll be announced tuesday 10:00am pacific standard time

  • which i think is something like 3:00am wednesday aussie time..

  • I think a venue that announces LBGT friendliness adds to the idea that we are not the same as everyone else. it aids in segregation and is stupid.

  • Well said!

  • im kinda confused. didnt california allow gay marriage because of the whole Harvey Milk. thing that went on the 70's. im confused.

  • California did approve gay marriage. However, a bunch of religious busybodies decided to spend millions of dollars getting a proposition placed on the ballot (Proposition 8) that added a clause to the state constitution defining "marriage" as between one man and one woman.

  • well. didnt people vote no for that proposition? hasnt that passed?

  • It did pass. But the decision that will be announced will state whether the proposition will be allowed to stand, or whether it is unconstitutional.

  • was it decided yet? people i follow on twitter are tweeting that they are dissapointed in California. Is prop 8 in action now. If so, im boycotting.

  • Yes, the CA Supreme court voted to uphold the amendment. However, this means that it will probably be headed to the US Supreme Court.

  • Yes that is true, we'll just have to wait.

  • Right now I'm ashamed to be a Californian...so I can only hope Tuesday holds good news!

  • Hopefully gonna wait for more colors. I don't like white shirts :/

  • hot shirtless picture!!!

  • I caught that too!

  • My birthday is on tuesday, and i'm literally getting nothing for it. So I hope if I get one present, it's the giftt of prop 8 going away.

  • You are super-hot and you know it!!! ;)

  • Haha, love the subliminal message ;]

I am definitely more likely to do my business somewhere that is LGBT friendly, but how they actually treat people is far more important that just having a sticker or whatever.

I have been following the Prop 8 thing as well, hopefully it gets passed =]

  • true that!!

  • I saw that thing at 3:37 too. Rob , you look tired from working on your thesis. I know you look forward to finishing that. People I think are more apt top visit an establishment that is gay friendly in most cases. People want to feel welcomed.

  • I think that if a venue states it's LBGT Friendly, it's also making a statement as much as anything. To just BE LGBT Friendly, whilst this is great, isn't as powerful. Also, stating that they are so is great for newbies on the scene, who may be nervous about where to go and be themselves.

  • I prefer to support businesses or attend events that are public about being GLBT friendly. In many cases, a person has no idea how a business will treat people without trying out the business. Rather than risk rude behavior, angry looks, or disgusted looks, I prefer to have a sense of how well received I might be before going into a business or going to an event.

  • LOL I think 3.37 was a bit of subliminal advertising for the t-shirts?

  • We have a friend who owns a bar in Chicago - he actively encourages GLBT, even advertising in gay mags. Because they buy expensive cocktails and never vandalise the place hehe

  • If I were in some place where I was a visitor, a gay friendly sign would be more likely to get my business. :)

  • It's nice that some places put up a stic or something to announce they're "all for it", but it's kinda not that important. Though, it's nice with a outing :)

  • what pic was that at 3:37 ?

  • yeah I saw that, I had to go back few times before I was able to pause and have a good look. lol! Sexy btw.

  • .......3.37?

lol was that a hidden joke, or did you not mean to put that in? haha. <3

  • Fingers crossed for Tuesday. Prop8 is clearly incompatible with the equality clauses in the US Constitution.

I like the 'LGBT Friendly' symbol - it does provide reassurance if you don't know the place. Also bigots are unlikely to want to go to a venue that is clearly mixed.

  • No, to prop 8, a little too late ! I know
