  • hahah geil :D

  • Die beste Band aller Zeiten ! Danke für viele, viele Jahre super Musik! Grüße aus Germany...

  • As I am trying to learn to speak German, it is easy to see why this song is on my playlist.

  • wonderful version.

  • in deutsch auch geil :D

  • DEUTSCH =D YEAHH

  • lol in german? gotta be the swedish or english version ffs!!!

  • Any fucking band in the world - abba

  • @TOLTECAAZTECA Esto es increíblemente absurdo y no científico.

  • She was showing more of her body to the Krauts, no fair

  • Uhh, how weird to here my lovely Abbagirls sing in german.

aAwell, I guess they earned a bunch of D-mark for the hazzle.

  • That's a hard language to understand!, or to learnd, they worked really hard during 9 years to make abba what it is today. Thank'u for making so many generations happy.

  • @RicardoLopez1975 .Agneta had a german boyfriend, and in sweden you had to learn french or german in school- I guess she did choose german and Frida was halfgerman- I dont think they had problems at all in germany

  • Singen sie es wirklich ?

  • Amarican ist the language of freedom lol :) - it is called amarican english - just because you write some word different you can not claim amarican as an own language - the brites speek it a little bit longer :)

  • domreiter28 - the language you are talking about is english - or so called amarican english -

  • never knew american was a language

  • @brattino American is in fact a "language" the world has understood for over 225 years. Everyone understands the language of freedom, whether admitted or not.

  • @Domreiter28 amarica and freedom is a bad joke but amarican as an own language? For me its not more then an dialect.

  • This is a good beat to sing a tribute to that Garbage Bin Laden with filth; now that the stink has gone.

  • In Gernan, they may have reversed the song and made Napoleon the victor, to get back at he Brits. But I am not German, it's just a wild guess. But the French can't stand Waterloo either way.

  • @harvester49

Why would anyone in Germany reverse it? Napoleon was defeated by the combined forces of Britain and Prussia.

  • @nyhamnen .. but the French kept Alsace-Lorraine at this time!

  • sounds better in american

  • @kobi97 There is no american version of this song. Only English.

  • @wieslawl59

Yes!! And it sounds a lot better in english!! ( even if I'm german:))

  • @rudaclan thanks

  • voll_geïl_lÊûte_sücht_mal_NÂch:_olikohle_Ãuf_gøÒglè_vòll_gêIl

  • OMG .... ABBA so Talent !!! 1000%

  • How many languages did they speak?

  • @cgek1996 They recorded Albums in English, Spanish, German, Swedish and Japaneese. Doubt they can speak Japaneese. Waterloo was also recorded in French, think its their only French song.

  • @rudaclan Voulez vous is partially French.

  • hach wie schön :-)

    hatte ich schon fast vergessen

    thanx!!!

  • Comeback not likely, sorry. But maybe its for the best. I have been a fan since Abba came out. The only thing I disapprove of is the wrong pronounciation of "Waterloo". Go ask the locals. Oh no, Fukushima 2 is about to burst.

  • Schöne Erinnerug an ABBA

  • das lied ist alt von früher :)

  • historically Napoleon surrender at waterloo

Abba regained the ground to victory

  • Heh.

It actually sounds better in German (not that the English version was bad)!! :D

  • Agnetha's red shorts are my waterloo

    THANK YOU !!

  • ICH WILL EIN COMEBACK VON ABBA!!!!! =)

  • Hört Lieber BOB MARLEY. ;)

  • ABBA Number One for all times.

  • Patmagda, her real name was Anni Frid, but she was also known as Frida.

  • Yes, what a nice accent. They are real stars.

  • Wie GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLL!!! :D

    das nenn ich wahre Musiker!

    <3

  • I love them!

I simply love them and I'm just 23

but I know maaany songs of them because my mother liked ABBA. :)

Btw - she and her sister looks exactly like them xD

  • I have the original Swedish version on my iPod! It actually sounds quite natural for this Swedish band!

  • eewwww, great song that sounds just awful in german...

  • that`s a great song...and the accent is CUTE...love it!!

  • I am from germany and i think some songs from famous singers are better than the original but this is not so good...I think the english is ch better....

  • That is so impressive! There are other videos of them singing in French etc... amazing!

  • I KNEW that ABBA could, and DID, sing in other languages. . .but I NEVER heard them sing in any language other than English. . .unitl now. In German, no less!! This was a hoot and a half ! ! !

  • Was heißt "this was a hoot and a half"?

Sprichst du Deutsch? Wäre nett, wenn es wer übersetzten könnte :-)

  • Oh my. . .how am I going to explain this ?? "Hoot and a half. . ." An old expression used in the American southwest to describe something unexpectedly funny, clever and entertaining. I assure you. . .the comment was NOT a slam ! ! ! Hope this clears this up for you ! ! !

  • "This was a hoot and a half," bedeutet "Das ist wirklich sehr komisch." It's American slang, but you don't hear it too often.

  • they recorded in spanish too. :) search youtube for it

  • cam back abba waterloo you very nice i´m living in waterloo

  • her name isn't Frida but anni-frid...

  • That is correct, strictly speaking!

  • Yes but Frida is her nickname

  • @patmagda - but she is better known as Frida and she likes to be called that too. ;)

  • Sehr schöner Song

Süßer Akzent, den die haben ^^

    ♥ABBA♥

  • @KeksiiCool

  • Is it wise to believe in all prejudices, which last from the past?

  • Well said, poor viewer comment that was here is now removed.

  • They are so great^^

And their German is really good^^

  • I'm 13 and ABBA is my Faforit band

Frida locks sooo beutyfull in thiss dress

and her Hear is soo fantastic and the boys make good music

    FRIDA 4 EVER........

  • Well done for being a young Abba fan, and recognising the quality of their songs is so good when compared to today's poor music!

  • @abbafanglosuk What the hell are you talking about? This era had plenty of "poor" music too. I.E. Disco. If you consider technicality and difficulty to perform as criteria, ABBA's music doesn't score very high. I'm confident anyone who is serious about music could play these songs.

This was before death metal and extreme drumming were even conceived. Are you trying to tell me that today's Derek Roddy is a worse drummer than the chump who played drums for ABBA? ABBA's good, but not Mozart.

  • Sorry I've never heard of death metal or Derek Roddy, but Abba's drummer was Ola Brunkert.

  • just one little correction of the text: they're not singing "bis über meine Ohren" but "bis über beide Ohren" :)

  • I always have to laugh when I hear the text of this one. Everytime I imagine one of the boys catch a girl and take her away...

  • I like very much this song John! It´s one of my favourites of the group (though I have many others). I didn´t know this German version. I like so much this language. I know the versions in Swedish, English and Spanish, but I don´t know the French version that you quote in one of your comments. Gosh, they might have done a version in Portuguese... This is one of the disadvantages of having been born in Brasil, he he he! Thanks for post!

  • How many languages could they sing in?

  • Swedish, English, Spanish, German and French. They were very intelligent people! Most groups sing in English only.

  • damn abba is just the best band ever..i´ve grown up listening to them every day and i still love them...and i´m only 17;)

    <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • You're definitely right there, and it's so thoughtful of them to do their songs in other languages like this for fans abroad! I've been a fan since they won Eurovision with this song in 74. It's John from UK, wish I was still 17!

  • Wow i love this outfit, agnetha she look very sexy here :)

  • Hi Matilda, yes Agnetha looks irresistable in her red crop top and matching hot pants. She certainly wasn't afraid to wear skimpy outfits on stage, which grab the audience's attention.

  • yes but Frda too

i belive at this Viede loks Frida better than Agnetha!

  • Great video John

Love the costumes As you said before they reached out to the world by recording in multiple languages

  • They were innovative in so many areas Shay - costumes, videos, languages, dancing, couples, touring, overdubbing, harmonies and overall general niceness!

  • All of Creation ABBA in one gulp . Easily and Beautifully - Super . Sea of Positive .

  • Abba music has spread love and happy feelings ever since they began Mario. The group makeup of 2 couples is unique and perfect. It gave them a deeper musical ability than any other group.

  • Wunderbar, John.

    Hans:-)

  • That could not be better timed Hans. I've done one of their few German songs just when you've come along. Wunderbar indeed!

  • The song Waterloo is one of my favs. I love him so much... And then the costumes. Isn't the red costume of Agnetha the same that she had worn in the Ring Ring - 1974 US Remix video???

  • Hi Alex, yes all four costumes are the same as those worn in The Ring Ring promo video made in June 74. Waterloo is an infectious song in any language!

  • hi john sounds great even in german ,agnetha looks stuningly beautiful an so happy ,they all must have worked very hard and deserve all the credit they get, an extrordinary moment in history for 4 highly tallented individuals

  • Hi Bill, yes they're all still on a high after that great win. If ESC only produced this one good act in all its years, then its been worth it. An English song sung in German with Swedish accents like this sounds quite enchanting! Agnetha is at her most attractive here in that nice cropped top and hot pants!

  • those clothes look rather SPACEAGE!

--it's almost as if they filmed this on a spaceship.

    c ya soon,

    XEM

  • That was the glam rock era Xem. This is typical of the glitzty outfits that groups wore in the early 70's. Looks like the designer's been watching too much Star Trek in Bjorn's case, that cape is ridiculous! The stage setting is unusual and futuristic looking, perhaps it's intentional to match their spaceage style outfits. Agnetha...wow!

  • Another excelent one John with all the data furnished it really is great.

  • Thanks Jim, I wanted to trace the events leading up to this performance, just 5 days after their ESC win.

  • Hi John!

Have you ever heard Waterloo version in french? It is very nice.

When Abba sings in our own language it is a big feeling to listen it.

  • I hadn't Marie, but I've got the track and just played it. You're right, its as nice in French as in German. This was the only song Abba did it French, that makes it special to you. I've taken the hint Marie.

  • And there is "Voulez vous...la question, c'est voulez-vous" in french words:)

  • Yes fair enough, but that's not the same as a complete song translation Marie.

  • WOW I have never heard this before definitly my song of the week

  • Yes this German version of Waterloo is rarely heard Di. I think Abba only did 3 songs in German altogether. This super song is dynamic in any language!

  • woohoo german!!!

  • Abba were the only group doing their songs in different languages to cater for all the foreign fans Mike. They were innovative in numerous areas!
