@armydoggie You have no idea what you are talking about. Iraqi's are not 1 people, they are a collection of peoples. There are many factions in Iraq, and Saddam held them in balance. He reigned with an iron fist, because he needed to. If one of the factions made a wrong move, he'd intervene and punish the ones responsible.
Since the invasion, the US has tried (and succeeded) in setting the various factions up against each other, because then, there is less resistance against their own forces

@zets13 The iraq you see today is the legacy of the west :) Saddam held the balance between the different factions. He reigned with an iron fist because an iron fist was needed. If ANY of the factions made a wrong move, saddam would intervene harshly so that the rest of the country could continue to live in peace.

@zets13 the communist way of ruling their people is not responsible for the collapse of the Soviet union. The communist system was :) China escaped that fate by adapting (freeing up their market etc).
You talk about the Iranian and kuwaiti wars? Who supplied Iraq with weapons and money and training to do those? Who helped Iraq? WHY did Iraq Invade kuwait?
They did not help Iraq :) Because Iraq was being used.
