How do you measure jobs created/ saved? The job markets is volatile and people hire and lose jobs all the time. The important thing is the NET loss is great enough to push unemployment to 9.6% even though Obama said unemployment wouldn't exceed 8%.

Finding truth in someone's statement afterwords can be tricky, and it is through this act that interpretation can be a volatile a destructive practice. The rest of the original clip contains his true meaning. And it is what Glenn Beck chose to air on his show that we should take as his word, not the afterthought of a smarter, more educated gentleman such as yourself.
The money spent would have created/maintained jobs in fields that were actually productive, i.e. to serve what people actually want. How many jobs can really be created when you add in the bureaucracy, and the high wages and benefits of government jobs? In the end the net jobs "created" are little compared to what could have been created, but were never allowed to come into existence. That's what Beck means.

How do you measure jobs created/ saved? The job markets is volatile and people hire and lose jobs all the time. The important thing is the NET loss is great enough to push unemployment to 9.6% even though Obama said unemployment wouldn't exceed 8%.

The money spent would have created/maintained jobs in fields that were actually productive, i.e. to serve what people actually want. How many jobs can really be created when you add in the bureaucracy, and the high wages and benefits of government jobs? In the end the net jobs "created" are little compared to what could have been created, but were never allowed to come into existence. That's what Beck means.

This is the worst lie of Keynesian economics. A good economist looks at what is seen (the immediate effect of a policy) and what is not seen (the long term effects.) If you build a bridge with tax dollars, it is what is seen. A bridge that would never have been created has come into existence, and it has employed people in the building process. What is not seen is what could have been created instead, if the government allowed people to keep their money to spend on whatever they wanted.

Anyone using sense knows you cannot create or save jobs with a stimulus when you are in debt. Think about it. How can you spend more money than you have? All the stimulus does is rearrange where we spend money and and therefore doesn't really stimulate.
We have an over $70 trillion medicare/medicaid unpaid liability. Why don't we reforming healthcare by paying our bills. That is the only thing that will stop doctors and hospitals from over charging people. They have to over charge now.

The very same CBO report cited here says it's impossible to know how many jobs would have existed in the absence of the stimulus package. In addition, we already know that many of the reports filed by the recipients of the funds were fabricated as well. The CBO report also says it doesn't know how many jobs wouldn't have existed in the absence of the stimulus. In short - The CBO doesn't really know and their own report cited at the end of this message indicates that.
