@schizzzit Actually there is. Two versions of the F40 where made to race. LM is the spec car used on LeMans. GTE was used in the Global GT Series called BPR
@hurrhurrbtard 288 GTO is absolutely gorgeous! It has a real elegant shape with masculine lines and details and is just a really well balanced design, plus it's rarer than a F40
@GottaBeAbstract Awkward, reading back on my comment, it makes it look like I think the 288 is a Lambo haha.
It's more subtle yet more brutal than a Lambo. The F40 seems a bit over the top, the 288 GTO was a perfect balance. And I have seen two F40s in my life at special events, but never seen a 288 in my life, so I guess you're right about it being rarer.
@tamick21 its not a replica, its a GTE that was been converted to road use. GTE's have a bigger distinct rear wing as it has more power than the LMs. like what Albe983 said the unrestricted race engine made 900+ hp however, there were no original street cars, some were converted, others were left for race use
My god I cannot express my feelings on how magnificent that car is, if somebody crashed that car and broke their neck, i would make sure the ferrari is ok! if it was still driveable/repairable, i would steal it lol.
on myvideo..de you can watch different videos of this beast from hell. Search for F40 GTE or F40 Michelotto - maximum power is more than 900hp. Ive seen it a few times driving around in Ingolstadt and this car is a all time favourite for me. Sounds like it wanna eat babies;-)
@Albe983 Not a problem at all, my friend. I was just saying that Ferrari "de-tuning" an F40, of any kind, is done with a 2 dollar wrench. If the owner wants more power, it's as simple as turning the wrench the other direction.
I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that the F40 GTE is not street legal and is a race-only version of the F40. It boasts much greater horsepower, more downforce, better handling, and a higher top speed (about 720-780hp and 236mph vs. the regular F40's 478hp and 201-202mph). What I'd like to know is how its on the road then - special event maybe (hence the truck?).
OK, quick correction of myself here. A very small number of the F40 GTE's were converted back into roadcars (barely street legal ones, that is). Very ironic, as the F40 was designed to be a racecar for the road, the F40 GTE a racecar of a roadcar that was built like a racecar, and the modified versions a roadcar of a racecar of a roadcar that is more or less a racecar. I think I'm dazed, confused, and tongue-tied now.
More than 6 were built. 19 were manufactured of the LM, the model based developed off of the GTE for ACO rules for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. There were fewer LM's built than GTE's.
Sorry. Confused the F40 LM and GTE models. This means that 19 LM's were built and 7 (not 6) GTE's. Sorry for the confusion, as it appears I was a little mixed up in my zeal to state the correction.
I'd shit my pants if I saw one of those behind me on the street.

Call me crazy, but I reckon the 288 GTO was nicer looking than this car.
I do appreciate an F40 though. One of the greatest cars ever produced.
I just prefer Lamborghinis for some reason.

Yes, 900 bhp for the race version, the street legal version is detuned to 750 bhp.

@Albe983 "Detuned" is a simple half turn of an Allen wrench.

@StabyMcStabsFace Mmmmh ok, my bad, english is not my first language, i thought "detuned" was the english for "depotenzitata".
