My seating was less then that of mr. Burney, 2e serie. I declined an offer for two good 1ere serie places, maybe even (!!) I had been seated next to that mysterious mr. Burney ( not mr Bean, haha, saw his movie as art connoisseur in USA yesterday). So be it.
After all we now have two reports from opposite directions. I sat close to the flutes (Augeletti).

For me THE miracle of this Rinaldo: Rinaldo, D. Galou! What a wonderful singer. I had discovered her only recently (Zenobia and Orlando furioso) and loved her immediately. When I read a couple of days before the performance she'd sing Rinaldo, I changed all my plans, bought the last-but-one ticket and went spontaneously to Beaune. I didn't regret. Then, Dantone's conducting, esp. at/after Or la tromba, I was just overwhelmed.

Lol, I went there initially becasuse of Sonia Prina who was to be Rinaldo.
I didn't mind at all her being replaced with Deplhine Galou, whom I heard already performing with Jan Willem de Vriend, several years ago.
I have the major part of the opera sound recorded. It's mono , voice, but it sounds very good, 3 times listened to it..

And, also very close to Schiavo and Ruiten, doing some behinde the scene duet.
Only drawback of this side placement was that the vidao screen was not visible, of which mr Burney also made ample use ! I would have done the same!
