I'm always been a BIG fan of the R-Type games, even if i don't own all of them i PLAYED each one, at first i was sceptic about a strategy version of the game but when i tryed it... Except the mechanic (turn based) the game is almost as same as an original R-type, even some stages are the same from the original series, boss included, i changed my mind completely after playing this, now i can't stop playing it @.@

Same here. I owned R-Type DX, III for GBA, and Final at some point. I didn't keep them, but it's a good series to play through.

@Truesonic24 No, sorry. The trailer's been played on Playstation Home in the IREM Festival area. I'm sure the game will come out soon. It didn't take IREM that long to translate the first one into English.

@Xeniphyst I've been playing the sequel for the past three months, and I'm stuck trying to conquer Glitnir in both EAF and Granzera factions. The turn limit's just TOO TIGHT! I've posted a question in gamefaqs, and if you've gone past it, can you help me? Is it even possible to capture units in the first chapter?

I remember reading in some quarters that Irem will no longer let Atlus have anything to do with the sequel. They didn't like the translation work.

I'll admit, i spent about 30 dollars on amazon just to get the special edition r-9 model with the force module. i had no idea how it was going to play out. i tried the game and liked it. its gets tougher the more you advance through the story so it still retains elements from its predecessors. that's my opinion anyways.

There's a sequel out in Japan right now, and it's human vs human! (Look at the story to know why I said it)

Here's my rebuttal:

You can't handle change.

You play the game once and instead of saying "Oh, an RTS? Cool." you all reacted negatively to the genre change.

Just because something isn't anything like the previous games (and you shouldn't be considering this game a sequel to R-Type Final anyway) does not mean that it is a terrible game.

I mean, you loved Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES, right? Well it's a different style of game to Super Mario Bros.

But this game? Oh no, it's not made by Nintendo, so you all raged and moaned and whined about it not being a SHOOTAN GAEM and not even bothering to look for good points.

If you ask me, I think it's a fresh look at the R-Type canon. I've yet to get properly into RTSes, but I an quite a fan of R-Type, so I may enjoy it.

Hell, it ight even get me interested in Advance Wars and Fire Emblem.

Oh, and Shining Force.

I hope this means R-Type Final won't really be the end of the actual shooter series, either. How badass would it be to have the modern consoles powering a shmup like this in HD... Eye candy and scarier, more hair-raising boss battles. :)
