i would deffo need to say ff7 and 9 i still play them. but also resident evil games, and mgs games, c&c red alert 2, generals, also renegade, i play stuff like mario all stars for snes and pokemon still on my phone since phone games suck imo loads more
For me this one is easy: donkey kong country, heart of darkness, crash bandicoot franchise, mgs 3 snake eater, fear effect, kotor, and zone of the enders 2
Star Wars Battlefront 1, Spiderman 2(film- but i like enter electro on ps1) and Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban on Game Boy advance are my 3 favourite games that i used to play a lot on.
Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, Sonic Adventure 2 battle, Bloody Roar 2, Sly cooper, Final Fantasy 8, Mortal Kombat, Mario 64, DonkeyKong 64, Diddy Kong racing, dbz budokai 3, Super mario Sunshine, Ultimate spiderman, Kingdom Hearts(especially 2) So many more I miss xD
The classic Nintendo games - Mario, Zelda, Metroid.
FPS - Counter Strike. A lot of obituaries in this genre.
Fighting Games - Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat(there's more but i don't play fighters really)
RTS - Starcraft.
RPG - Holy fuck what the hell happened to this genre. All the great RPGs have gone to complete shit. Bioware games have really gone down hill. Well, I guess you could put Elders Scrolls here since that is obviously still kicking.
i can name a lot of older games that stand the test of time. shooters - q3, rts - starcraft, platformers - smb, fighters - sf2, hacknslash prg - diablo. those are games that might not look fresh from today's perspective but the core experience for the specific genre is there and they are perfect examples of game play executed perfectly.
super smash bros series, sonic adventure 2 (regular and battle), all zelda games, golden sun series, kingdom hearts series, DKC or DK64, FF4-6, goldeneye on N64, mario games, fire emblem, jak 1-3, and chrono trigger
Super Mario World -SNES, FFVII-PSOne, Resident Evil 1, 2, 3 - PSOne, Resident Evil 4-PsTwo, Uncharted 2 PsThree, Gears of War 3 Xbox 360, Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, 3-PsOne, Final Fantasy Tactics-PsOne, Legend of Legaia- PSOne, The Legend of Dragon PSOne, Breath Of Fire 1, 2, 3, 4-PsOne, The King of Fighters 96, 97, 98, 99, Street Fighter 2-SNES, Mario 64, Donkey Kong 1, 2, 3-SNES, Rock'n'Roll Racing-SNES, Top Gear-SNES, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time-64, The Legend of Zelda Link tothepast-SNES
@DrakeSparky and a lot more, if i say every game that i believe i'd be playing ten years in the future, there are a lot of classic games that until now i love playing cause they´re awesome and unique
Spyro 1-3, Crash 2,3,TR, Jak and Daxter, Twisted Metal Black, SMB3 and W, Mario 64. Well probably lots more, I just still play those games every year.
I'll tell you what DOESN'T hold up: Conker's Bad Fur Day. That game is constantly referred to as a classic. I went back and played it for the first time in years not too long ago, and it looks about as bad as ANY game from that era.
ms. pacman, galaga, donkeykong jr., the legend of zelda (nes), contra, super mario brothers, super tecmobowl, coack k, super metroid, mr. do, castlevaniaSOTN (just to many to list). :)
@digitaltiger777 thats a good list. i was trying to think up some games back when i had my atari and coleco vision but none came to mind, but ya id say easily ms pacman, galaga, and donkeykong jr definitely take the cake for that era. id also say even the first donkey kong can go on that list
if i had to make a pc list it'd be starcraft, diablo 2, just about every valve game, aquaria, deus ex (the 1st game pc only), fallout 1 and 2 (shits on fallout 3 and new vegas), titan quest. if i have to throw some fps games even though im personally sick of the genre (unless it's different like say L4D or Killing Floor), id say battlefield 2, quake 3 arena, unreal tournament 2004
Shining force series, panzer dragoon series, megaman series, metal gear series and probably 90% of working designs games when the company was still around.
Super metroid, link to the past, super mario brothers, mario brothers 3, crono trigger, mega man x, chess one of the oldest games ever lol. u know i wanted to list alot of pc games, but since you mentioned "visually" as one of the criteria, it's hard to do since the jump in graphics between games on pc are insanely huge. when i play the games i listed above they dont make me think "this is outdated" in any form. what i mean by that is, their visuals fit perfectly with the tone/style of the game
the original Deus ex, that game was way ahead of its time, and no game has come close to even matching what it has accomplished, not even the Deus Ex HR. NO GAME HAS COME CLOSE to what that game has done.
Unreal Tournament, best multiplayer fps ever MADE! 50 maps out of the box, 10 game modes, THOUSANDS UPON THOUSAND OF USER MADE MAPS, need i say more?
Powerstone 1 and 2 for the dreamcast, best party fighting games ever! SHITS ALL OVER SMASH BROTHERS!
