Nice video. Looks like the forest section is that place that knighter lost all the time. There's no way you can ride a 500cc bike through roots and trees as fast as a mountain bike that just skips over everything.

To be fair, that track is specifically for downhill mountain bikes so Atherton had the advantage from the off. All he's got is momentum and a bit of pedalling now and again. Knighter's bike is an enduro motorbike, designed to go over anything realistically. It would of been the other way around if they were on an Enduro track which consists of different gradients, up & downhill, he would of won hands down! Still, he put up a fight and this video is great :)

1 Gee was slow his record is 5.35

2 knight had a week to practice on the track i know as a friend lives a few miles from the fort

3 knight had 500 cc ktm motorbike they are built for this shit

4 fort william is a insanly hard coarse my time is 7.24

This is the same bike as he uses in the World Endruo Championship and although riders must ride for between 6-8 hours on both days of each round the championship, the bikes are entirely set-up for going ver very fast for between 4-10 minutes - on the special tests where the event is won and lost. Therefore - MX bike would have been no better in any way = stupid comment.

@123whosthedaddy If you want to see a MX bike with someone else and Knight on a Enduro and compare the speed voer logs in a straight, then youtube it. Then you will see how the speed difference is. A MX is much more chucakble and sicne this track is very difficult, it would make up time.

@UnseenSpirit hmmmm only bike i can think of that could do it is the derbi DH ..........there are very few bikes that are that light :) maybe a mx with a tiny fueltank and a lot weight reduction ....no mirrors lights shortened seat and sub frame properly setup shock witha very good high speed compression to handle just how rough the track is ............would take a lot of fine tuneing to shave that much time off :)

Lightest adult-sized enduro bike I know of is a KTM105 EXC 2-stroke at ~68kg (claimed "149.9lb dry") and I've heard some dudes are starting to swap out to these in really hard tracks like this DH course! FX Bikes Mountain Moto is 57kg (125lb) ready to ride but still on factory-direct wait-list.
