or he retired, wanted to come back, team was going to let him, retired again, wanted to come back, team was considering it until he retired again (two undocumented retirements), decided he wanted to play in August when the playbook had been completely built around Rodgers, team realized they'd probably lose Rodgers if they let Favre come, so he didn't. They gave him many chances to come back, he just kept flip flopping. (Personally I like current rodgers more than current favre anyways)

Blanda (48) turned into a kicker and pretty much did squat for QB, testaverde (44) did play 1 full season after he was 40 but it was not good, bruce matthews (40) is legit, but he only played til he was 40 also, and clay matthews (40) also played til he was 40.
