  • it's surprising, MM did not get the main part;

  • @flaminia5 This film was about an actress who was getting old thus MM could not do it but it was one of Bette Davis' best movies!

  • wow. marilyn monroe is gorgeous here. wow.

  • Bette davis and Marilyn monroe in the same movie together!! WIN!!!!

  • From her beginning in movies, the camera loved Marilyn. That never stopped.

  • I love this scene. It may be a "blonde" line, but it does have its own loopy logic. Marilyn was no dummy. Watch her between her lines ... she doesn't just sit there waiting for her next line, she listens and reacts exactly as her character, Claudia Casswell, would, which is the essence of acting. She knew exactly what she was doing (and so did Claudia Casswell). And I love her looks in this scene ... she looks both adorable and truly elegant.

  • Marilyn Monroe is and will always be The Greatest Star. In her short career

1952-1962 she became more than a super star, she became a myth. All About Eve, , Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How To Marry A Millionaire, , Some Like It Hot, Misfts and her last Somethings Got To Give reflect a great actress. Billy Wilder who directed MM in Seven Year Itch and Some Like It Hot said she was second only to Garbo in ability. In her great career MM worked with Huston, Stanwyck, Colbert, Davis, Lemmon,Gable

  • oh she looks stunning

  • "well done. I can see your career rising in the east like the sun" how true that turned out to be!

  • I wish Marilyn have more scene in this movie. She was so beautiful like a porcelain doll. Nevertheless, great movie!

  • So beautiful!!!!

  • theres something a bit shitty about that scene..marilyn was never stupid

  • @shealways This scene isn't to depict Marilyn as "stupid". It's only a character she is playing.

  • @MsMonroe03 Absolutely! And someone has to be a very good actor to pull it off so well. THAT is a really great scene. I laugh everytime I see it. (And that was obviously the intention.)

  • @shealways She usually plaed naive roles.

  • @shealways: why do people always confuse art with real life? She's playing a role. It's called acting, my dear.

  • honestly

in my opinion marilyn is just not a very good actress

im sure she did an exceptional job in some movies but shes nowhere near, bette davis, joan crawford, elizabeth taylor etc.

  • I just watched All About Eve and this scene made me LOLed, MM was amazing.

  • Marilyn made news again today - some video footage of her smoking made headlines.... that's a real star.

  • btw Marilyn Monroe's birth year brought several stars into the world, like for instance also the year 1899

  • Marilyn, smoking hot and dangerous.

  • marilyn is sooo funny!

  • "I don't want to make trouble; all I want is a drink"

  • "You have a point... an idiotic one but a point"

If anyone this will always be JL Mankiewicz's picture.

  • that last man coment about marilyn monroe career was true

  • @mohamed555 "that man" as you called him was the great George Sanders, an amazing actor in his own right, do a search on his movies, you won't be disappointed.

  • that last coment what man say was true about marilyn monroe career

  • that last coment what that man say was true about marilyn monroe career

  • I LOVE WHEN SHE SAYS "THANK YOU MR.FEBBE"gotta love marilyn

  • This is the first film I saw Marilyn Monroe in. It was great.

  • She sounds so diffrent in this film.

  • She was very young.

  • She's still beautiful nowadays (for her age), but, of course, her repeating ... how shal i put it... bumps with the law, culminating with the recent debacle, rather taint her public image. :(

  • What a choice posting! Thank you for reminding me of Marilyn Monroe's appearance in this memorable film!

  • lol: But i can't say Butler can I? Mayby sombbodys name is butler. Hahaa!!!!!!!

    ¨

SORRY FOR MY BED ENGLEISH! I'M NOT VERY GOOD ATT I'T

  • didnt this movie have bette davis in it just askin

  • Yes, she had the lead role along with Anne Baxter.

  • Personally Ive Yet To See The Sun Rise In The East Although Then I Would Have To Awake At That Time To See It

  • I Believe Marilyn Learned A Great Deal From Bette Although This Was Indeed Bette's Picture You Must Be Dumb Def And Blind Not To Notice Marilyn But Then Not All Have Such Refined Tastes As We Splendid Folk

  • "Well done, I can see your career rising in the east like the sun." by those very words, he just foreshadowed Monroe's career.

  • No doubt as the rest is history. ;)

    Wolfe

  • Until you mentioned it, it had never occured to me how apropos this comment was to Marilyn's own career. A brilliant observation!

  • not really " rising form the east like the son" the sun rises from the west lol he was mocking her

  • @lordalessan Ironic in this film ("All About Eve") about younger actresses superseding prior older ones . . . that it should introduce Marilyn Monroe and thus further brighten the dawn of her fast faming film career . . . as Bette's career (as a romantic lead) peaks, thence to decline.

  • The only resson this film is remembered is cuz of Marilyn...but thats just my thought.

  • with respect your opinion is wrong- this will always be bette's picture

  • I agree. As much as I love Marilyn, this was definitely Bette's picture. Even if Marilyn wasn't in the film, I'd still enjoy it based on Bette's performance and the story line.

  • You're wrong the movie is a classic and not fore the very very very small part of MM.

  • i think that is a disgusting thing to say. this film is remembered for the amazing performance of bette davis and anne baxter.

now i love marilyn as much as the next gay, but really, any pretty young actress could have played that small role (possibly even some who could have played it better)

  • i love this movie!!!

  • i love the scene where bette greets addison, and miss caswell at the stairs,,,watch how marilyn studies bette as they playthis scene out...the newbie learning from the master. i always wonder what was going thru Marilyns head while they played this scene.

  • No wonder Sanders wrote a book about being a cad,he was perfect in this movie.

  • i`ve lved marilyn since i was 5!!! so a long time she`s captivating

  • She is the most beautiful woman ever walked on this earth.Perfection ! Amazing!

  • "You have a point. An idiotic one, but a point."

  • love this scene and how Marilyn says "Thankyou Mr Fabian"

  • I love the way she pronounces every syllabal correctly lol. A very young Marilyn here.

  • Asolutely gorgeous.

  • She was the most beautiful woman ever

  • That's quite a claim.

  • Quite A Claim Yes But Indeed A Correct One No less

  • Absolutely hilarious.
