The issue that causes this isn't really the chips themselves but the solder used to hold them in place. I'm pretty sure that's an automatic void of warranty. In most cases, anything you would want to do, to try and "fix" your machine, that requires you to open the case up will void the warranty. They don't want you opening the case up for any reason.

I had this as well in April of 2007.

So UPS also collected my broken Xbox when I called Microsoft, explaining the problem. I had it back by the end of April 2007, it was also brand new. It also came with a Gold Subscriber Card, so that's cool!

I hope no one has to experience this. It's not that I didn't do anything else besides playing my 360. But it's worth it. I didn't have any problems anymore. My 360 is working perfectly.

Check the label tag on the back of your 360, where your consoles serial code is and at some point on the label, it should say Falcon-chip, FLC-chip,F-CHP, or FLCHP.

If you get the RROD a automatic 3 year warranty kicks in but any other problems, and you didnt pay a warranty when you first buy it...then it costs a lot of money but for the RROD they got you covered.
