@rawmark ya i autorotate my RC heli all the time.but im really wanting to fly real helis.are you flying on your own? and if you are how long have you been flying? and what are you flying.do you move people .or do traffic for radio station or fire watch.sorry for all the questions but im interested in this subject very much. i just dont know whats out there as a heli pilot
The most common way to become a career pilot is to spend about $60k to be a flight instructor. This allows you to build hours without costing you more money. You need several hours of flight before you can make enough to start paying back loans. Flight schools know you need the hours and they pay you only enough to survive, all while interest is building on your loans. You need about 2500 hrs to get a job that actually pays.like transporting ppl to offshore rigs/scenic flight in alaska $45k
@5959512 that is shit shit money im bummed i want to switch carriers but i cant believe how little heli pilots are paid this is a shame.can you live a middle class life on 45k in Alaska? in the Boston area you need 100k and up.to be middle class life.good advice on collecting hours Thanks
@O7ROADKING It's getting better but just don't go after a job in Alaska. Because so many vets from the 60's have retired the salaries of Heli pilots is going up so the base fee should be closer to 60k starting, or so I'm told. This is because there is a great demand for heli pilots and there aren't enough of them around.
@rawmark can i ask you what part of the country? i live in the Boston Ma area and 100k is middle class living.plus my wife makes 45k do you know what a heli pilots makes in the Boston area? Thank you
