  • Thanks Very Match!

  • THANKS MAN I APPRECIATE IT, We need more people like you on youtube.

  • All I have is MS Paint. Is it possible to get a transparent background there or can I use a VIdeo FX in Sny Vegas to get one (like the cookie cutter maybe)?

  • Thanks, it helped a lot ^^

  • one of the best tuitions here i have seen.

  • Thanks a lot. Very helpful for copyrighting videos.

  • thank you so much!!!

  • Great video. Nice job

  • Great Vid mate. The only problem is that virtualdub saves the file as an avi, which is kinda big. Do you know if there are any other programs that accepts mp4 or wmv as an output file. Anyhow, thanks for the tutorial

  • @alhaqiqa1 Sony Movie Studio, Sony Vegas Pro both accept mp4, wmv, avi, and most video file types as input or output.

  • what if you have an image taht is not transparent

  • @TheJFKGamer You can convert almost any image to a transparent background. See how in my YouTube video 'Transparent backgrounds with Photoshop Elements '

  • thanks for the help, I'm a bit confused though a watermark is an intro isn't it??

    =S

  • @RetroWavesHD A watermark is usually a semi transparent image on a document, photo, or video that identifies who owns the video.

It is not the same as title intro graphics.

  • @guerillabill ok thanks its just i've got a intro thats saved by the maker as a watermark

  • hey i got a question..how can i make my logo spin in 360` angle....like round and round

  • @slaywee Use Xara 3D to create and animate the graphic, then import into Vegas.

See tutorial on my site showing how. 'Create stunning 3D graphics and logo animation using this low cost and easy-to-use program'

  • @guerillabill thanks for telling me i go check the vid right away

  • You sound like Bill Clinton...Lol.

  • @jakeroot2 Bill Clinton went to the same grade school, junior high, high school and college that I went to. When he was a child, he lived about 5 blocks from our home. No surprise that we sound alike.

  • @guerillabill Wow, that's amazing! Really cool! By the way I didn't mean any offense by my comment, that is you were receiving offense, which I don't think you were anyway.

Regarding the video, thanks too! It helped a lot.

  • @guerillabill

i don't see that bar thingy to make it more transparent. help!

  • @AceGangx Find the opacity slider at the top of each video clip. Just put your mouse on the top of the video clip, left click hold and pull it down.

  • thanks man you where an great help ^_^

  • Thanks for the small tutorial but i have a question, you know a good program for image editing ?, thanks in advance

  • @MegaSpooke I use Adobe Elements 6 for image editing. You can get it for under $15 by searching google for 'OEM Photoshop Elements 6'.

  • Thanks sir...

  • i wanna add logos, like say nike, with the picture for example. how do i do that!?

  • @dane3445 Use media import, and import the logo into Sony Vegas, then drag it onto a video track above the main video track. Then use pan & crop to resize and position the logo

  • @guerillabill thank you!

  • hey i use gimp 2.6.8 to make my water marks and my water mark has a white square around it and when i make the size small enough to fit into the right bottom corner of the video you cant see my name thats on the water mark. what do i do?

  • @HaloPLaYeRToDaY Make the water mark 720 X 480, save as a .png with transparent background.

Then import into Vegas, and place on Timeline. Use pan & crop to size the image to the position and size you want.

  • @guerillabill how do im make it 720 x 480?

  • @HaloPLaYeRToDaY In gimp, file, new, then set image dimensions to 720 X 480

  • @guerillabill i did that but the white square is still there.

  • @HaloPLaYeRToDaY the white square behind the grapic means it wasn't created with a transparent background. You have to do that in your graphics program.

  • @HaloPLaYeRToDaY Start by creating it as a 720 X 480 image in your image editing program, with a transparent background, and save as .png to preserve the transparency

  • My problem is that it appears but when I move it to the left it's not visible but still there because I can move it to the left.

  • @SingleTap If you use pan & crop to move the image, you need to keep it within the video frame. Pan & crop will let you move it beyond the frame, and it won't be visible.

Also, be sure you set your project properties to match the source video. This tells Pan & Crop the size frame to show.

  • @guerillabill I messed around and got it. First I found out if I set "maintain aspect ratio" to no it can go anywhere but then it was to big so I simply scaled it down and cropped it in photoshop. But for anyone who may read this do not crop it to much or you can't scale it in vegas. Then I put it in and it worked.

  • Thank you :)

  • LOL exactly 20,000 views

  • THANKSS :)

  • Thanku!

  • bill, when i put my watermark to like the border of my video, it disappears behind the video, so it can only go to the middle sides and not the video border/edges... how do i make it work on the border

  • You are sooo coool!! 5 stars and if there is more I would give it all to you.

    Regards!!

  • Help please, i created another video track on top just as you say, but when i insert the picture in (PNG file), it just doesnt appear anywhere? It still visible in the Pan and Crop but not in the video.

  • When add an image, it will only appear at the point in the timeline where the image is located. Make sure your mouse pointer is over the image, to see it in the preview window.

To make the image fill the entire video, stretch the image on the timeline to fill the entire track.

  • nice

  • how come I cant move the box around? I can only move it side to side not all around?

  • You have to set Pan & Crop to 'move freely', using the movement button in the Pan & Crop window.

See 'Solve Pan & Crop problem in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • how to make backround transparent??

  • See my YouTube video, 'Transparent backgrounds with Photoshop Elements'

  • can i do this with windows movie maker cuz the two almost look alike

  • Probably.

  • ok thx

  • No you can't do that with WMM

  • Windows Movie Maker is no where near the professional level of Sony Vegas. I don't think you can.

  • thanks man

  • :D your tutorials are so helpful!!!

  • bless you man !

  • can we add effects to the watermark. KInda like make it spin, flash, ect. If so can you tell me how plz

  • Since the watermark can be any image or video, you can use a loopable animated video as your watermark if you want it to spin or flash. Create this outside of Vegas.

  • thanks man i nee that information bless

  • How can I put an image, AND text together? Do I just put either the image or text first, and then put the other one on top of it?

  • Put the image on one video track, and put the text on a video track above the image.

  • I created a png file, drag it to vegas - putted it on the new video line - but nothing - it did not show up!

  • As shown in the above video, put the bug in the video track above the main video.

  • thanks pal.u helped me alot

  • thank you! of all the tutorials I watched this one FINALLY showed me exactly what i wanted to know...it even works with 8.0

  • Thank u

  • Thanks Bill. Now I can use my logo in all of my videos! 5 Stars, Favorited, and Subscribed.

  • if i try this on sony vegas 9 platinum edition will it still work? and how do i make a transparent background on the watermark if i do try it. please send me a message.

  • Yes, this works in all versions of Sony Vegas and Movie Studio.

To see how to create a transparent background image, view my YouTube video 'Transparent backgrounds with Photoshop Elements'

  • how come when i press my crop button thing it jus doesnt come? it appears quickly as hell pls someone help

  • If it appears quickly, then disappears towards the bottom of the page, it means you have docked the window behind another one in the tabbed area.

You'll have to move other windows to find where it is docked, then drag it onto full screen to work with it.

  • How do you make a watermark?

  • Use a paint or photo editing program and create a transparent .png image file.

  • what format does the logo bug supposed to be in

  • Either a transparent .png or transparent .gif

    I use a transparent .png

  • Hello! I'm going to be getting Sony Vegas Pro Platinum (because I'm getting more serious in video editing, but I can't afford Sony Vegas Pro yet :P) and I was wondering if I'm able to add a watermark to my videos if I have Sony Vegas Pro Platinum 9? This is one of the key features I would love to have in my future videos and it would be great if you could answer my question.

    Thanks :D

  • Yes, you can use the technique shown above in Movie Studio Platinum 9.

  • Ok awesome! Thank you so much.

  • set it as a colour that isnt being used in the parts you want.

When you put it in sony vegas, go to:

    Video FX -> Chromo Keyer

Choose any, then click the eyedropper and drag a small box around the un-wanted colour (it has to be a box, or it wornt work. Dont just click.)

If you want more than one colour to go, then exit off the first, and add another.

  • thanks

  • thanks dude

  • thanks Bill. but can u tell me what's the file format of watermark image u used? and how did u set the background, of it, to transparent?

  • You can create transparent backgrounds in .gif and .png files.

I created a .png file using photoshop elements, set the background color as transparent, and selected 'save transparency' when I saved the file.

  • well thx heaven.

  • lol, you can also use track motion to do this. but nice :)

  • maybe you can help me.. i place a watermark on the vid..just as you did.. but once rendered into mpg, it changes position and ends up almost at the center.. how do i fix this?

  • The watermark won't change positions when you render. However, if you use pan and zoom, you could change the position of the watermark.

  • thanks

  • Thank you so much for your tutorials they realy did help me so much!!

    *subscribing*

  • When ever i add a watermark and go to even/pan crop

I cant drag the WM tot he lower corner like you did.

I tried turning off maintain aspect ratio and it stll doesnt work.

And when i try to move it, it only goes up or down and if i go too far it starts to disappear

  • In the event pan and crop window click the crossbar icon in the left side of the window until it reads 'move freely (x or y)'.

This will allow you to move the image it all directions.

Then resize the image and drag it where--ever you want it on screen

  • Big time problem, in the pan thingy, i drag outwards and that, but when i am going to place it down in the corner, it dissepears....

  • Review 46 seconds into the above video.

  • thanks man

  • Among all tutorials yours is clear and eazy to follow!! Thank you.

  • thanks for the video bill,

i have created my image with transparent background, it shows as the checkered background in my media folder, but when i drag it onto the top layer the background is white not transparent, i have saved the watermark as .png, .psg, .gif and they are all the same.

    can you help me please?

  • When you save the image as .png, be sure to select 'preserve transparancy' in your image editing program.

  • thanks for your quick response, i have done this, i hadn't done until you mentioned it, but it has made no diffrence, there are 2 layers, i protect the transparency on the background, or on both layers, the effect is still the same, vegas imports it with a white background

  • Vegas isn't changing the image. It simply imports the image as is.

If it is not saved as a transparency, it won't be transparent when loaded into Vegas (or any other program).

  • If u are using photoshop u cna just save as .psd with a transparent background. That works fine for me :)

  • i feel smart after watchin this :p

  • thank you so much

  • how do you make it transparent

  • In you paint or photoediting program, create a .png of .gif image file, and set it to have a transparent background.

  • i mean another**

  • at the beginning how do you create abother video track on top?

  • Right click in the existing video track, select 'insert video track'.

  • how do you makw transperent ?? :P ð,ð

  • Use Photoshop elements or any paint program and create a .png or .gif image, and choose 'transparent background'.

  • Ok thanks :P

  • you speak far too fast...

  • I was wanting to do an overlay where I could put my own video over the television set on my first video to make it look like the person in the video was watching something else. Is this possible to do with Sony Vegas 8?

  • Yes, you can easily do this with sony movie studio or Sony Vegas.

Add a second video track above the main video, resize the video frame, and position it to fit over the tv screen in the main video track

  • I don't think you can make backrounds transparent in paint can you?

  • Sorry, I don't use MS Paint. You can create transparent backgrounds for .gif and .png images in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, and other paint programs.

  • Yeah, I know I don't use paint either, I have photoshop 7.0 and imageready.. But I was just pointing out to some people that may not know, That you cannot make a transparent backround in paint.

  • lol, the first video i saw on youtube where the audio explained what was going on. Good job.

  • Can you use Paint? All I did was make the background green in paint and Chromakey it. If I can use paint, how do I make it simpler?

  • The easiest way to have a watermark is to create it in a paint or graphics program and set the background to transparent. Then save the graphic as .png or gif to preserve the transparency.

  • well explained for those who still find Vegas a difficult program . 5* rated .

  • how can u make it spin?? plz i need to no thanks

  • Yes, you can make it spin. Use the event pan & crop to rotate the watermark.

  • Great tip. Thanks

  • Great Tutorial Thankss

  • Fantastic tutorial! Very well done, great video & audio! Thanks!

  • I'm trying to move my watermark down towards the bottom of the screen in the pan/crop window, but for some reason it does not allow me to drag it any lower than halfway down. Once I try to go lower it just cuts off. Does Any One Know How To Fix This. When Ever I Use Maintain Aspect And Stretch TO Fit Frame It Messes The Logo Up.

  • When Ever I Do This In Vegas 7 Only The Image With A Transparent Back Ground Shows And Not The Video And Background On The Preview.

  • If you place the transparent background graphic on a video track above the main video, and if it only shows the background and not the video, it means the background is not really transparent.

Make sure you save the file as .png to preserve the transparency.

  • I Added The Logo But I Had Red In The Logo But When I Import It Into Vegas The Red Part Turns Blue.

  • Choose a video safe pallete in your graphics editing program and the colors will show correctly on video.

  • thanks for this!

  • Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful! I do have a question though. I saw that you replied to someone:

"If you move the image outside of the pan and zoom screen view box, it will disappear from the visible area of the video.

Keep the image within the rectangular box in Pan & Zoom."

I seem to have trouble doing so. I try to move the logo to the right-hand corner but before I get that far, it disappears and I have no idea how to fix that. Any help would be appreciated!

  • On the Event Pan & Crop window, use the workplace zoom slider to resize the image so you see the entire screen area.

This will make it easier to adjust the image to fit the video screen area.

  • wow I seached these tutorial for a week. finally! thks!!!! :) 5/5

  • hey,, can u use "paint" in accesories to do this,,, if so how do you make transperant??

  • Search the help in paint for the word transparent and you'll see how. Then save the document as png to preserve the transparency.

  • hi again

i learnt how to draw opaque, but when i put the box around it,, i couldnt draw the transperancy and when i put it onto vegas it would still have the white background,, even if i saved it as 'png'?

  • I use Photoshop Elements because it works as shown in the above video.

MS Paint may not work - even though the MS paint instructions say it might.

  • tyvm :D

  • thnks man i needed that vegas is full of secrets

  • Thank you very much! That really helped me!

  • thanks i neddet that becose i wnat my own logo on videos becose on youtbe are video steelers

  • I do not have the F or any way to make it smaller or bigger, all i have is the way to move the rectangular box. How can I fix it or make the Circle with the F inside of it appear?

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I have a problem which hopefully someone will have some ideas how to solve. When I pull my logo towards the bottom of the page my logo starts to disappear. The more I drag it down the video the more it disappears? Please help. I have a screen shot if someone would take a look for me? Thanks!

  • If you move the image outside of the pan and zoom screen view box, it will disappear from the visible area of the video.

Keep the image within the rectangular box in Pan & Zoom.

At 40 seconds into the above video, I show how to change the Pan & Crop zoom level so you can see more of the screen. Do this, and then keep your logo within the rectangle within the circle.

  • thanks so much just got it =)

  • thanks for that, it really helps

  • thanks dude :)

  • thankyou

  • Can you mask on sony vegas movie studio

  • yes you can on sony vegas 8 pro anyway. just go to event pan/crop and tick the little box sayinmg mask

  • Can u do that watermark with another video clip, and if u can how?

  • Sure, you can put a water mark on as many video clips as you like. You can drag the watermark across all clips in the production just by putting the water mark on the top drag, and extending the graphic length to match the length of the video.

  • All your tutorials are superbly done.

    Kudos.

  • Awesome!

  • Very helpful! Thank you so much! :)

  • Great tutorial. Keep up the good work. I really appreciate all the hard work that you put in to your tutorials and would like to thank you for making them. They have helped me tremendously. The more I watch them, the more I learn. Thanks again.

  • Thank you! Excellent & timely for me!!

  • hey how do u make it transparent?

  • Open up a graphic in a paint program (paint shop pro, photo shop, etc,.), select 'set image transparency color', select the color to be transparent.

Then when you save the image, save as either .gif or .png, and choose to save retaining transparency.

Then import that image into you Sony Vegas.

  • thanks...your videos have helped me a lot

  • Cool, you even got Elvis to narrate the video!

  • Yess!! 1s comment.
