I love this song but the videos they have for this song is not what I have in my head when I hear this song. What I imagin is a Grandson with his Grandfather. The Grandfather teaching his grandson what it means to be a Godly man.
absolutely one of his best song-writing efforts. epic, emotional, soulful... it's got it all. so glad i got the "first decade" cd so i can hear it anytime the mood strikes.
@awakeaftermidnight Because of the lyric, "And on that hill one flower grows. They say it is the spirit of of Kentucky Rose...." it was said that was hinting on new-age. Nonsense. One of his definite best songs.
This song has sooooooooooooooooo much meaning. Whoever wrote this song did an awesome job !!!!!!!! And if this is a true story of a real person ( Kentucky Rose ), I look forward to meeting him in Heaven. I do praise and thank God through Jesus Christ for the ministry of the Holy Spirit working through Michael W. Smith. :-) Charles
Michael W. smith wrote this. A great song but a Christian Radio disc jockey convinced people it was new age so very few people ever heard it. But a definite "Christian" song! : )

I'm watching a bio about MWS right now. and he said that this song was his least received single because the radio stations pulled it from the air.
...I love this song!
