Tangs can live at a minimum of a 30 gallon. Once they grow to a medium/regular size, you'll have to get a 55 gallon reef tank. Then they'll get to be considered large, which you'll have to buy a 75+ gallon reef tank or your tangs will suffer if you keep the 30 gallon. At least go up to a 55 gallon!
I have had a hippo tang in my 30 gallon tank, and it lived until my velvet damsel attacked it. I've had him for at least 7.5 months, but he killed my tang. The tang was only $39.99 which was worth it.
I feel sorry for your tangs :( 55gal is much less than most tangs require. The only judgement you have to go on is they havnt died yet. upgrade to a 90+ kthanks
i mean im just curious when you look at the fish you want how do you not read about it requiring 75g its like impossible notto notice and if the guy asks you what size tank you have do you just lie?
Sorry to say this, but you can only keep those tangs in there for a little while longer, but they WILL grow. Very large. After that, they'll die unless you find them a large tank of at least 75 gallons, and that's pushing it.
WOW no way that looks like a 30 gallon tank... you sure it's not at least 50 lol? Anyways great looking tank should think of upgrading to a bigger one once the tangs start growing bigger.
Both of those fish (Zebrasoma flavescens and Paracanthurus hepatus)will outgrow that tank, it is too small for them as it is. They need a crap load of swimming room and are very susceptable to parasitic infections if stressed.
nice tank once i get mine goin im goin 2 have a tank pretty much just lyk urs, mine is a 30g and im gettin a blu hippo and yelow tang and when they get about 5 inches im gonna take um 2 the pet store and trade um 4 smaller 1s instead of spending $500 on a new aquarium mayb u could do that eventually
Acrylic Huh? Very Nice. Me, I Prefer Glass. Though, I'd Been Able To Put My 75 Upstairs If Not for It Being Heavy Glass. Are You Planning To Upgrade Any Time Shortly? The Tangs Might Look Okay Now, But I Have A Powder Brown And She Grew Like 3 Inches In Only A Month And A Half.
