As a student of compositon I love the way this was filmed. The important secondary parts in the celli and other sections can be seen. Moreover, one can see the excellent fingering and bowing technique. thank you
Capriccio espagnol, Op. 34, is the common Western title for an orchestral work based on Spanish folk melodies and written by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov in 1887. Rimsky-Korsakov originally intended to write the work for a solo violin with orchestra, but later decided that a purely orchestral work would do better justice to the lively melodies. The Russian title is Каприччио на испанские темы (literally, Capriccio on Spanish Themes). (From Wikipedia)

This was a great version! My orchestra just played this at our concert this week. Very well done.

GREAT! But his conducting seems out of style with the music.

If I were a stage hand, I would be afraid of stepping on the ant holding a toothpick

@directfader Yeah! Whats' funny about seeing the conductor all the time? Specially when he is holding a baton which looks like a toothpick, LOL!
The best part of watching classic concerts on tv/youtube is that we can see the whole orchestra.

I've never seen a conducting baton so short! It looks like a toothpick. What's up with that?

I used to buy a baton and it cost me US$18.
Next time I would like to use a toothpick because it's free for charge.
Anyway, bravo to Maestro Gergiev.
