  • Meeko, Yes, these animals never expected to be left alone. Leaving them was not by choice, they were household pets and farm animals. People's spirits were broken by leaving their pets and the farmers lost their farms which had existed for generations. It was all bad, a real Animal Holocaust.

  • This is a such a tragedy to human and animals. I cant help myself but to cry for these onced loved and now abandone pets and animals It makes me very very sad, it breaksmyheart reading the docu. I have petition to Japanese Government and TEPCO to have save the remaining and surviving animals. God speed.

  • Authorities are going in, and they are killing off animals. Much to the annoyance of rescuers, they're getting rid of otherwise healthy animals. Also sadly, they are not without reason, nor are they without regrets.

  • @Yakerina There are mixed reports about how many farm animals have been killed by the government. There are farmers who are still trying to get their farm animals into a sanctuary where they won't be killed and will not be consumed as food.

  • @chiensperdus Yes. My post was a response to Squirrelcaster's statement that all these animals were killed. Sorry, I was not clear that I was saying the animals are not all dead.

  • Sad, but the authorities went in a few weeks ago, all these animals were killed :/

  • @Squirrelcaster No, all the animals were not killed. Thousands still alive waiting to be rescued. Dogs, cats, farm animals.

  • @chiensperdus Ok, I did see a report the other week saying they were going in to put them out of thier misery/starvation, if that was incorrect, then that's a good thing in a way, not that there is much good around Fukushima at the moment.

  • @Squirrelcaster =There was an article that stating something about euthanizing some farm animals. However from animal rescue sources on the ground in Japan, there are thousands of animals waiting to be rescued. The rescue groups are waiting to be let into the Exclusion Zone that the government shut off over two months ago. Thousands of dogs, cats, and farm animals wait to be rescued. Remember lots of these are pets.
