  • Tom Waits sent me here.

  • petula clarks version is best

  • @amgervinus is that a joke?

  • @wonderboyjoy

no it's true. in the part "Night and day and day wrong or right" you need a powerful voice that describes the painful feelings of that time.

  • @amgervinus i love petula clarke and am old enough to have been there for most of her hits but she had a bit of a vibrato on some songs that annoyed me a bit. but i love male soaring vocals like this guy, marvin gaye etc. this guy's vocals are wonderous! petula's version is great too but i just think this guy's vocals are perfect. just an opinion of course. have a good day.

  • Love love this wonderful music:So born in the wrong time:(

Born in the 90s sucks :( for me

  • 1:55 is when the best part begins!

  • WOW !!!!!!!

  • Still get chills after all these years, great music, what a talent.

  • Cannot for the life of me find this song sung by Dodie west. Any one know where to go to hear her version.

  • mcbrion..The performance was from the 70's..LOL..The song was from 1967...

  • One of the best songs ever. God, it brings back memories of being at Cleveland High School in St. Louis and watching Richard B walk by. You captured it, Li'l Anthony!

  • Where did the end of the song go? Delete this crap.

  • A classic--beautifully melody/lyrics and stunning wall of sound tasteful arrangement that gives one goose bumps. Little Anthony fabulous of course.

  • NOT from the 70s. This is mid 60s at the LATEST!!! I was in junior high when this came out and that was 1963-66, so it was no later than that. Little Anthony and the Imperials had gorgeous productions and drama in their songs. A HIGHLY overlooked group. And Hurt So Bad is a Black classic, although not so much in mainstream culture, which, at that time, hadn't integrated Black music into the culture, unlike today.

Loved this song, and sang it all the time when it was on the charts!

  • Que hermosa canción,una de los mejores temas que he oído en mi vida...

  • a lesson in superb control and delivery. What a gift to share. Great mood and interpretation. but then, twas written for him.

  • fantastic pieceof music and voice, back to the days when there was real genuine talent in the music world.Always reminds me of the St.Ivo centre in Huntingdonshire, good all-nigthers there durin the mid 70s.

  • This guy sounds like a baby

  • I wrote this song long ago....lol But I never got credited for it. Life's a bitch.....lol

  • @jpsmart59 Lmao, stfu,

  • beautiful!!!!!! my favorite!

  • If one song can bring so much joy to the world, then imagine what a whole life can do.

  • Thumbs up if Tom Waits brought you here

  • I am singing this in Talent Show tomorrow. Very Excited. The Best song ever

  • Only he could have done this song justice, his voice makes it seem like he was such a downtrodden soul. Yeah, that is the key word here...SOUL.

  • also recorded by dodie west both good versions

  • i wish they would come to the uk

  • This is the most beautiful version of this song, he rocks! he sings with heart and soul. I love it!

  • Pity Amy Whinehouse didn't record this masterpiece when she was top of her game,it would have been fabulous sounding ,it has the a

same dreamy sound as Love is a losing Game, her voice would have suited this.

  • @2HonestIam Agreed. She would have knocked this out of the park!

  • I LUV THIS SONG

  • Through three decades 50-80's Little Anthony and The Imperials had some of the greatest love ballads in the history of rock and roll. Awesome talent, right up there with the Temptations, Platters, Four Tops, Miracles and Impressions.

  • I saw them in 2008 and they're still fabulous!!!!

  • belive it our not you dislikes there is more to black music than puff daddy and all that rubbish.

this is pure class by a fantastic group ,,a talented group

    enough said...clean your ears out

  • Great Group.

  • how did this one pop on my channel.. oh my...

  • The emotion in his voice in this song is pretty amazing.

  • 10 people are fart face.

  • I agree with kyereCat...I wish I had a time machine

  • Love this song! Anyone else think Stephen K Amos looks like Little Anthony??!

  • Love this jam reminds me when I had a crush and I didn't know how to tell the girl at school how much I liked her

  • I wish I have a time machine!

  • @kyereCat you do! On Youtube!

  • I'm out of the main Demo as I was born after their hay day. They are unbelievable and every time I see them I get chills. Anthony's voice is just devastating.

  • One of the greatest records ever made.

    Thank you for posting..

  • PRICELESS AND TIMELESS!

  • Awesome Oldie! :)

  • OMG! i've heard this song a ton of times but never knew who sang it and i always thought it was a WOMAN!!!

  • if you have marked this song down you have a tin ear pure class

  • todays music sucks. once mj died, music died. all these older groups were the best. that is why all of todays groups remake or sample classics.

  • adam şarkıyı yaşıo beyler

  • Great!

  • 10 people dont have a head

  • hey nurse, there was a time that I feelt like this.I just wanted you to just say hi to me,there was a time when I would cry cuz you would turn away,I just wanted you to say hello and be my friend..:(

  • @thetruckernurse I am so sorry for not wanting to be your friend ! but i was married and and i new if i started talking to you things would of gone the wrong directions but now we are best friends and once again i am so so sorry for hurting you !!!

  • They are a little bit before my time, but i still love'em. From D'k The Entertainer.

  • How can ten people dislike this? Have they no taste or class?

  • My Father used to do his hair and he was a very nice man.

  • He has such a clear, soaring and at the same time - powerful - voice! wow.

  • i know i made some rude comments about little anthony the truth is im a jealous part time

song writer that loves his music and wish i could duplicate the great sounds of the early

60s every time i drive in my 1966 impella im playing his music i believe hes one of the

greats, that recieved little credit for all his hits as for his people who keep emailing

me letters of rudeness fuck you,and jr who did not show up in youtube talking

about my spelllllllingg go fuck yourself little old queer

  • Fantastic song!!!!!!!

  • This clip must have been filmed after Sammy Strain left to join the O'Jays.

  • this must be the herion days that hair got fucked up hes not singing idiots its

a dam voice over and someone get the fool a cumb or pic please

  • @MrGeorgeda123 I agree, Comb your damn hair for pete's sake! Jeeez, what's wrong with these entertainers that don't know how to dress? There are so many of them

  • Penned by the Fantastic Teddy Randazzo, God Bless Him, He's missed :-) Checkout Pretty Blue Eyes ?, and You don't need a heart, a Northern Soul favourite of mine, KTF :-)

  • Outstanding!! women just loves this stuff :)

  • This song brings back many fond memories of growing up in the 60's. I first heard this song on WABC AM radio New York City on Cousin Brucie's show.

  • This song is timeless.

  • pure gold

  • That is one hell of a collar! He looks like he stays high though!

  • @n0gar Welcome to the 70's!!

  • Stunning. My dad loved this when I was growing and I've loved this classic tune for many years. THIS is American music.

  • This clip has that powerful "Wall of Sound" quality . Was it produced by (the now jailed) Phil Spector? Great sound, thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  • @ryvrboatgambler I think Teddy Randazzo, who co-wrote the song, also produced it.

  • the vocal techniques are unbelievable!!! I know this is Soul "lipsync" Train, but I mean the original recording. I can tell from the distances he get from the mic as his voice gets louder. It's better than any compressor you can think of. Nothing beats perfect mic skills!!!

  • over you

  • lol that lisp an baby voice Anthony had is too funny but he always nails his songs!

  • @MrSexxxy20 I didn't notice a lisp....even if....I think he's the real thing....the emotion he gives is gold.....

  • @mrgarcia500 lol yea he totally has a lisp. But it's all good I still love this song.

  • real voicing , true romantic lyrics thatt tell the story of love , inlike todays sex tinged songs that lack the ture meaning of harmonies and studio gimmicks , thanks for the memories

  • I love this song.

  • the music that was created back then was some of this the best of all time

  • My favorite song of his. But of course there all good.

  • I TOO THOUGHT IT WAS A FEMALE SINGING THIS SONG, IT WAS A BIG NORTHERN SOUL HIT IN THE UK, GREATSTUFF

  • i will always lov the impereials

  • I am 16, and have been listening to the music from this period in music my entire life, the things that modern people put out usually can't be called music, this song is one that belongs up there with the songs everyone knows)or should know( the lyrics to, such as Hey Jude, Stayin' Alive, My Girl, and Everybody Loves Somebody.

DK God I wish I had been born in the fifties so I could have had the chance to see some of them in concert!

  • I met Little Anthony two years ago before a concert in Pittsburgh. He was gracious and so confident. Some people are tall on the outside...and some people are tall on the inside! Thanks Tony, God Bless and keep touring, we love you and the magic you make on stage... Michael

  • Im not even going to read through the comments.... im so afraid of the negatives i might fall upon.....sheer genius.....43 and still can remember mom playing this music....life will never be the same!

  • Chuck Berry, James Brown, The Temptations, The Imperials, (early) Michael Jackson. Now Kanye West? wtf... what happened, black people? You invented the fucking blues, pioneed rock 'n' roll and revolutionized pop music. You guys gotta get back in the game.
