jerrydff7, up north best time to plant is in October, in the south you may be able to plant in the spring. DO NOT allow your garlic make a flower, pull the scape out before it blossoms, (the scape is that round leaf that comes out of the center of the plant and has a bud at the end of it) if you let the scape grow, it will indeed flower but it pulls the energy from the bulb and you get smaller bulbs, if any at all.
Thanks for taking the time to watch my videos and for all the nice comments!!

Yolanda, you rock! I had a bulb of garlic that fell behind the counter, and it sprouted. Now I have it in wet tissue paper and it is rooting, so I am going to plant it... and some ginger too!
I followed all the instructions about planting garlic and after the winter I ended up with plants that looked like thick green onions with no indiividual cloves. Totally
@checkfoldcallraise No.....news ones will probably grow. But keep your cat well away from your garlic plants. Use some kind of surface repellant if you have to. Cats are a nuisance to young plants. Good luck.
fall would usually start in late September. Its one of the seasons in temperate climates that precedes winter. These instructions may not work that well if you have different seasons like in India or other Monsoon countries.
@v632 The 'fall' is Autumn in the free world :-) late September/October
Why they use the word 'fall' is beyond me. To describe falling leaves as a season is pretty lame to say the least. It is AUTUMN :-) Maybe they have trouble spelling it, along with everything else.
it bought a book all about herbs some time ago and it had plants which i never knew were even herbs, it accepted the term very broadly, it included: sandlewood, tomato, banana. im not actually sure herb has a proper definition.

Thank you that made it very simple for me to understand. Last year I put up a large greenhouse for vegetables and I had a great year having fresh vegetables. I always wanted to know if I could grow garlic and your the first person to show me how simple it was. Thank you
Our family are garlic lovers and this is just what we needed to know. Now we can grow our own. The whole video was great, thanks so much!

you didn't' talk at all about cutting back the scapes.. I was told that you have to cut them back to produce the bulb.

How does it take for each pod to yield? Given the cost in time, could it be easier / better to buy it cheaply from the supermarket?
