I may be a Westerner, but I do know the Japanese National Anthem, and as far as I'm concerned, that is a wretched rendition of Kimigayo. It's like the worst of the American divas going over the top when singing the Star Spangled Banner, but Kimigayo is a very stately song, which should be sung with dignity, without gilding the lily.

She blew it! This is wrong! The Japanese anthem is written with a solemn tone. It is in a very similar pitch to that of Britain's "God save the Queen" Hence you cannot sing it the way patriotic march songs like "Star spangled banner" or the "March of the volunteer" of China which is clearly what she've done here.
