Looks like the gelding paddock at the barn I board my horse at LOL..... how many times do you have to get the blankets repaired..... 1 x for me so far this season (winter blanket) 1 x for rain sheet...
While watching this video I kept thinking that the scenery reminded me of our visit to Haworth in March. And then I checked your profile and you're in the UK. Where at?
aww, i used to be like that, i had to give up my loan pony as we didnt have enough time, but me and mum sed we will have one one day, and, after many years, it happened, now i have 3, but two are on loan, never give up hope! if you believe hard enough, anything can happen, thats my sayin, annd its true, just keep on wishin on that star :)
lol. my aunt has a dominant gelding, and a new guy wanted to be boss...lets say it wasnt pretty. the other horse charged me and my cousin twice, too. nasty little guy. nice vid, though
my second cousins foot got stuck in the stirrups wail his horse galloped off into a electric fence! my other one's horse followed!they fell on the riders but every thing was alright. they had a few holes in there sides and said they were never riding again! it was so sad!Salt and Pepper diddn't get any sugar lumps for getting freaked by a person behind the fence...
It;s natural behaviour, pack leader stuff. Some people don;t understand this. Ah well. Your video made me laugh and remember an old gelding i had who was just like roley! Hope they are all getting on better now!!
I hope these guys stay in the pasture and don't come in a stall at night because I clean stalls for Quarter Horses and I know how much crap I clean up everyday. The bigger the horse the more they eat the bigger their poop.If I only had a dollar for every pile of poop I've picked up.But actually,I've become quite skilled at hitting the bucket with an entire pile ... not having one fall out.One has to find fun in our daily chores.
the person who said it was animal cruelty is such an idiot. the horses are playing, ok they are biting and kicking each other but they are having a play fight.. its nature!!! they are enjoying themselves in the field!! its like the OPPOSITE of animal cruelty. if this vid showed a HUMAN biting or kicking a horse then its animal cruelty. YOU FUCKING IDIOT. wise up.
This reminds me so much of my gelding, Rocky. He's last in the pecking order and gets chased around alot. By the way, what breed is Troy? He looked pretty heavy in the clips...
this is hillarious...got any more? music just makes it even better...lol...i have 2 younger brothers close in age and they act just like this...wild and crazy...fighting all the time...the usual...boys will deffinetly be boys.
Umm... first of all this is FAR from animal cruelty, horses will be horses and guess what horses do... THEY ROUGH HOUSE. thats pretty retarted of you to say something like that. is is not cruelty.
the horses r just playing. no one is harassing them, or being mean to them. all horses do that. i cant even imagine what would make u think that! its a horse thing, its like a game to them. wut in the world would make u think that that was animal cruelty
The "boys" seem a bit frisky despite the cold weather. The video is well done and the music fits the scene. I look forward to more of your productions.
haha, that's so true! my boy is like that sometimes, though for the most part he gets along with everyone. except for the PMSing mare in the stable, who i think he has a crush on lol.
but anyway, loved the video and the music matched it very well ^_^
There is no definitive single way to tell really once they have settled down and all got used to each other as a herd. With big Troy, its more when he wants to walk somewhere and another horse is in the way, he'll just have to move his ears backwards and the other horses move. Its subtle things like that which you can tell from.
i love watching my boys mess around in the paddock, but i still cant work out who is the lead gelding in my horses field its relli ouzzling, and tips on how to tell?
Hehe, when I brought my horse, Sonny Bubbles, to his new home, the first thing he did was try and start a fight with who we think is the lead guy of the gelding herd....he lost, but he doesn't get along with anyone. -.- Oh, well, as long as he's in one piece :D
lol, lots of body language going on here. Great video. Interesting to not the other two walking off at one point to leave the boys to it then getting entangled up in it all again. Thanks for sharing
The video is not in chronological order, but you can see the stages of sniffing, reacting, then chasing. You'll also see that Troy in the green rug is the one trying to chase the new one away from his herd. hope this helps.
Sure, no problem. The behaviour is a bit of the meeting ritual horses will go through and then the dominance thing. When 2 horses meet for the first time, they will sniff and blow into each others nose, then after a short time ( it varies ) one will likely squeal / stamp / bite out / kick as if to proclaim the dominance. Its normally the existing dominant one that does this. After that, then its likely that the existing boss will try and chase the new one away from his existing herd.
Nice. Youve done a great job with making it revolve around the two males. Most of theses videos try to revolve around one or two people/animals, but it usually doesnt happen very well. Once again, nice job. I really enjoyed it, and will probably show it to my friends ^^
awww this makes me miss my baby even more! I remeber when i just got him and introduced him to the heard... its always the mare thats more agressive (then again my gelding loved to hump her so i can't blame her!)
To be honest, Troy doesn't really raise his feet to other horses unless its really necessary. His big enough to just barge or bite. If you watch closely, its the black and white mare thats the most aggressive. The black and white one is our 6yr old called MollyCoddle and she's the one to give Roley the hardest time.
As for the rugs. Its the West of Scotland in the winter when this was taken.

They only do this to play, or to be the one who is in control. My horse always does this, since she's a mare, but I still like her :) IT IS NATURAL!

Hi All, Thanks for the comments, didn't expect any really . . . i just hosted it here to show some folk from work. as a bit of a laugh.
Anyways, i'll fill in a few of the details:
Troy is my aging horse, a 16.3h Shire Cross and is about 16yrs old. He's the dominant male of the field.
Roley is the new horse at about 4 yrs old. Slightly taller at 17hh, but no where near as heavy build as Troy.... cont
