My husband has this car but I don't drive it much. Even though it's fun to drive (speeds up fast, great sound system, lots of plugins for mp3 players and Ipods) It seems to have quite a few blind spots. I'm on the short side so that probably doesn't help either.

There is nothing incredible about the Scion's engine when compared to the Honda's. It only makes 10 more hp, and has a lower redline. The Honda's redline is not only higher, but enters its torque band at high rpms. That is where the Vtec part of the engine comes in; it is a high-revving engine and provides its best performance at those high revs (like any sports car). Also, the Honda weighs 100-200 lbs less than the Scion, depending on the model you buy, which helps it corner harder/faster.

@marshknute Hey stupid, the "i-vtec" in the Fit is NOT the same as the "V-tec" in the K series motor. There is NO 2nd lobe moron. It's only a marketing scheme. I wouldn't want to have to rev my engine to 6,000rpm everytime I want to pull away from the intersection. Most people want to rev on the lower rpm range when driving around town.

If I'm concerned about hard conering and neck snapping acceleration, I wouldn't even think of the Fit. Idiot. It's an ECONOBOX, NOT a sports car.

I simply pointed out that the engine's high-revving nature was inspired by the true V-tec engines found in the Civic Type R and and S2000. Go test drive both cars before responding. I have driven both and can comment first hand. The Honda handled better, had a more responsive engine, had a better gearbox, better visibility, greater road feel and felt no slower in the straights than the XD. The XD just felt heavy and numb.

The entirety of the Scion lineup was ranked in the top 10 of the list of most ticketed cars in the US. That's right, cops are just as likely to single out a scion as a Mercedes CLK, Audi A4 or Hummer H2 (other cars on the list). Toyota sells this car to a younger audience, so cops assume that an inexperienced driver is behind the wheel. You are better off buying a Honda Fit b/c it has an i-vtec engine, class leading practicality and fantastic looks (be honest, the Xd is hideous).

Your GT5 reference is far from the truth: I race MX-5's, Mazda3's and RX-8's and have driven 6-figure supercars well into triple digits. Ferrari 599, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Audi R8 V10, McMerc SLR, Bentley Conti SS, Porsche GT3 to name a few. I think I know how to drive better than you do. I have driven the Fit, and drove the XD yesterday so I could comment first hand. The fit is better.

@dougdangger I don't own a Honda Fit, I own a Mazda MX-5 and race my uncle's GT3 with the Porsche Club of America (the second largest racing club in the US after the MX-5 Owner's Club). I drove the Fit originally b/c the Mazda3 owners were surprised by how well the new Fit's handled. I've driven the supercars several times with the World Class Driving organization. You can find my Picture on their website for July 27, 2010. I'm wearing a blue collared shirt crouching next to an SLR McLaren.

Fit: $15, 850 xD: $15,880 I'd pay the $30 for the bigger engine alone. I don't give a rat's ass if an engine revs all the way to 50,000rpm if it's weak as hell. The Fit looks like a mini-van while the xD looks far sportier.

It's not surprise that the Fit is more well known throughout the world because the xD is EXCLUSIVE to the U.S.A.

So the Honda's engine is 0.3 liters smaller (not larger like you claimed), which explains the 11 hp power deficit. Yes, drivers do thrash their cars and the Honda simply drives better. Even if the Scion is US-only, US-based organizations deemed the Fit better than the ugly Scion.

This is quite a performance car. A much faster car than any Honda car, and also more reliable. Fuel mileage is around 42 mpg. Handling is that sportcar, very close to the Lotus Exige, although a bit slower in performance.

Okay, now here is the truth. This car will flat-out destroy the Honda Fit or Nissan Versa. The Honda is a very nice car, but lacks horsepower, and needs to be rev up to around 6,000 rpms to move strongly. The Scion also delivers better fuel mileage, getting over 40 mpg on the highway and 29 in the city, but thats with the automatic. The 5-speed delivers two mpgs more. Performance of this car is slightly stronger than the Corolla, since the well known Corolla and Scion Xd share engine/trans. End!

I have one too. There is not enough leg room for me but.......the gas mile is good. It gets 31 in town and 33 highway. I can run all week for twenty dollars. I traded a 2007 Camery (paid for) for this car. They took the camery, gave me back $1200.00 and I am not sorry. The Camery ate gas. Well compared to this it ate gas. It was more comfortable but you have to give to get so I did.

This car is really nice. Its not like a school bus at all. Its more like a Corolla, high quality! The car is pretty quick too. My daughter has one, and I like it a lot. Its not a BMW, but it is very Corolla like, and thats a good thing! The car actually handles very well, passing power is more than adequate. She gets over 40 on the highway and 30 in town. It has a trip computer, so she always reports to me how much she loves her car. My son likes her car also, always asking to borrow it! Nice!

This idiot also failed to include the drivetrain is identical to the 2009 Corolla. My daughter's Xd gets 29 in the city, and 42 on the highway. Along with all the standard features mentioned, it also comes with a great trip computer, and a 160 watt, 6 speaker stereo. Reliability is considered by consumer reports to be much better than average...this can not be said about the Nissa Versa. The Honda is a great car also, but you must pay $20,000 to get the options the Scion comes with standard!!!
