Why are women stroking at a higher rate (about 0.7) and men at about 0.78, but men have faster times e.g. 4:00mins compared to 3:40mins for 400m free?
1). How long does the battery on the tempo trainer last, and is it possible to change it, because it looks like it is seeled tight?
2). Is it better to get the stroke rate down first or to keep to a high stroke rate and reduce the SPL count down to 16? (I found that at different SR (1.40 down to 1.04), my SPL varied, so should I use the SR that gives me my lowest SPL?)
Thanks for your videos, I had my best swim in 3 months after watching. Priceless!
1. The TT isn't that reliable. It breaks etc. long before the battery is dead... However, Finis changes it as soon as you'll have trouble. No way to change battery.
2. The most important is the stroke length (anybody can spin her hands fast). Therefore, try maintaining SPL while increasing tempo in small increments. The result is faster and economical swimming! Working on SL is your infinite goal!
Sure. you can use in all strokes. Bear in mind that with short axis strokes (butterfly and breaststroke) the tempo is slower. You can set the beep on the leg kick, hand entry etc. We advise to change focal points and not use only one...

can the tempo trainer be used when swimming other strokes such as butterfly?
If so, would it be better to set the beeps to the leg kick?
thanks for the video.
