@Love4SK The United States attacked British occupancy of the area which is now Ontario "man". I'm sure that Canada became a country in 1867 way after the war even happened. Canada was a Dominion... not a country. This goes along the lines why a lot of people feel as though Canadians are fake brits.

@Dslater417 , nothing to deny, even New York was named after York in England. Canadas biggest city was called York until the 1840s, then they changed it to Toronto. The Gov general is purely ceremonial. She has a vote but basically chooses what the PM recommends. thats why there is a twitter campaign to have Bill Shatner be the next one. Its a useless position. Don't give England too much credit( weird how it seems how a lot of Canadians like to do that), if you wanted to be free, like how the people in the colonies back then did, you would still be Canadian. It's really all based on how our ancestors felt at the time. There are stories of the "fearing Loyalists" moving north because at that time, the population of Canada was loyal to the crown.
