  • Watson should've gotten an oscar for this

  • Cello Concerto in E minor by Edward Elgar

  • what music is she playing???

  • emily watson sooooooooooooodid deserved the oscar!! sublime interpretation de Jaqueline du pre...

  • Instead they gave it Gwyneth Paltrow for an awful performance in Shakespeare In Love.

  • What movie is this? I only looked at this for the cello solo, but now I'm interested :)

  • es una capa, la amo jacqi siempre en mi corazon

  • of course emily watson doesn't play the cello, and what if she doesn't make it right? She plays an amazing character, she deserved more than jsut a nomination to the oscar.

  • Does any one knows about a link to this movie in youtube but ordered by secuencial scenes?

  • This movie deserved multiple oscars... it is no doubt the greatest biographical movie ever, the best British movie ever made and in my opinion; one of the best 10 movies ever made in the history of cinema... How sad it is to have such success end in such tragedy...

  • Caroline Dale is the cellist who plays the music for this film. She also did the cello solos for Atonement.

But this song in particular is the Cello Concerto in E minor by Edward Elgar.

  • does anyone know where i can get this song? also this was an amzing movie.

  • any1 can understand that "Jackie"'s actress isn't playing coz her moves are so unnatural...and when we hear vibrato she act like she isn't doing vibrato, look it for yourself and correct me (if I'm wrong)

  • Yeah she isnt playing its someone else i just can't remember her name...but she has her fingers in the right place just like the music is written.

  • The actress is Emily Watson.

  • I'm not talking about the actress..i'm talking about the person that played the actual music for the movie..which wasnt J dupre.

  • any1 can understand that "Jackie"'s actress isn't playing coz her moves are so unnatural...and when we hear vibrato she act like she's doing vibrato, look it for yourself and correct me (if I'm wrong)

  • best movie ever so nice

  • ....sigh...... I can't remember the last time the ELgar really got to me like it did this time...there's something about the way the music becomes when someone is talking over it...

  • it is her signature piece

  • aww hilary

  • I will always love Jackie.

  • Don't know exactly, but try to search for: Elgar: cello concerto in E minor, First song: Adagio (moderato), thats the same piece.

  • Thanks. Its awesome.

  • what is she playing at the begining

  • Elgar Concerto, practically her signature piece

  • yo what piece is that

  • ok, I see & I'll accept your point. Every cellist may do things differently, but they all hold the cello in a similarily way, & at least in a way that they'd play in tune. Like I said, I think Emily did a great job in the role. I just felt that she didn't hold the cello properly, esp. not to play in tune.I'm sure there are others who feel similiarly.

Sorry to have upset anyone, I had not intened to do so

  • don´t forget that she´s an actrice not a cello player....it´s too dificult to imitate a cello player...

  • Jackie didn't hold hold her cello that way, and that really annoys me. I mean, who can you hold the cello like that and play in tune. Good clip though, good acting, just not cello wise

  • well Jackie also wasnt an award winning actress like Emily Watson. As far as cello acting goes, she did a much better job than most, she obviously had some instruction and training. you need to find something worth getting annoyed at.

  • I didn't mean to upset any one, but after hours of research on Jackie, and on proper cello posture and technique, this kinda upsets me, as it's just so completely wrong. EMily did to a great job in the role, just not holding the cello properly.

Also, Jackie may not have been an award winning actrees, but she was a pretty good actress and mimic.

I didn't mean to upset anyone, it was just something that I wanted to comment on

  • once again, you need to find something else to get upset about. I'm sure she did the best that she could and she was nominated for an academy award for the role. how can you expect her to hold the cello exactly the way jackie did with such precision that it would satisfy an anal retentive cello student at Interlochen?

  • I have to agree. Every cellist (yes, Emily Watson did have to learn cello for this role) does things differently, whether it be vibrato, posture, or tempi. You, as a student at an acclaimed music academy should know this.
