I went there as a young'un in 1999. It was definitely a product of its time, but it had a certain charm that appealed to Mets fan. May it RIP. Watching this video really made me sad. :(
I went to a met game a couple years ago it Shea. It was a beautiful ballpark. That is where I got my first and only baseball they a player gave me so far. I am a Yankee fan. But even though I still liked this stadium. The mets still suck and will never win a championship again.
i love the mets and citifield has nice amenities, but imo it really does not compare to shea. shea is that place us old school fans cherish because we grew up on it
whos that fucking faggot cunt whore who is shouting ye fantstic beutiful beitiful, the beatles playyed there man thats fucking history they destroyed , they should burn in hell
The rich faggots finaly got their new fucking skyboxes in thier corperate shit hole of a stadium. Shea was a hell of allot better than gay ass citi field.
...that doesn't explain why the Yankee game schedule slates the whole area of old Yankee Stadium to become a (general recreational) park. Don't you need seats and some sort of structure for a stadium?
Also, I read in SI that Old Yankee Stadium used an old kind of concrete (invented by Edison himself!) and, as with many types of older concrete/stone structures, they are actually harder and stronger and can resist demolition better than newer, steel-centric structures.
Shea...... I live in California, but I've bbeen a die-hard Mets fan since I was 7, when Piazza came to the Mets. I watched dozens, maybe hundreds of games on TV, both live and old games.
Shea was pretty awful. It was cramped in the corridors, as well as dingy feeling. There was nothing behind center field worthy of interest. Especially near the end (i was at the last season game) They just kinda gave up on maintenence, so everything was falling apart.
The thing was, At Shea, I never got the heartpounding sensation i had whenever i would see the Yankees. There was just something...legendary about the place. The atmosphere, the relative closeness of the place. Both are gone now.
It would have been awesome of they were to do what they did in Atlanta, and paint an outline of the diamond and outfield wall on the parking lot. Also, a plaque where home base used to be would have been nice to.
Fuck the braves. Mets fans will admit we did choke big time last 2 years. But at least at the end of the year, we are still relevant. But I guess youve been very comfortable last couple years living in the shadow of the Mets Philly rivalry
Who says Mets vs Philly is a rivalry? Its mets and marlins my friend, Everytime theyre down here in miami, the stadium packs up like never before. 50% of the people go for the mets, the other half for the marlins.
I hate to tell you this buddy, but as a diehard Met fan that has been to Met-Phillie games, you are sadly mistaken.
Met fans HATE the Phillies, and Phillie fans HATE the Mets. Don't get me wrong, there's a rivalry with the Marlins, but it's no where near as intense as the Mets-Phillies Rivalry.
fuck all you Boston fans..you cause all the drama and bullshit you whining cry babies. When I lived up there and I'd get carded going into a bar, or for a pack of smokes. If I was lucky enough to get served (I dont know if it was b/c I was from NY or they are that fucked w/ out of state ID's, b/c the dont take out of state ID's in MA...could you imagine if we did that here in NYC wha tit would do to tourism?) I would always hear "Your no Yankee fan right?" Well FUCK BOSTON! FUCK REDSOX! GO METS
I don't know. I'd be crying if that happened to my nearby stadium. In fact I used to work at Foxboro Stadium. So of course I felt a little sad but the memories will stay with me. All the Football and all the concerts I've worked. Foxboro Stadium was a real blue collar stadium with blue collar people. People around the country often heard that it was a dump of a stadium. Lousy facilities, Lousy parking, Lousy traffic. Let me confirm it with you. IT WAS!!!!!! However I'll miss it.
How exactly did they cheat, might I ask? Last time I checked, 9 innings were played. I don't know if you're incompetent or just a bitter Mets fan that's upset about 2 (going on 3) years of choking in a row.
The Yankees are dropping into the cellar just as fast as their worthless owner is descending into dementia. Enjoy being No. 2 in New York and No. 4 in the Northeast as even being No. 3 is way too high for you to aim for.
