  • I went there as a young'un in 1999. It was definitely a product of its time, but it had a certain charm that appealed to Mets fan. May it RIP. Watching this video really made me sad. :(

  • I went to a met game a couple years ago it Shea. It was a beautiful ballpark. That is where I got my first and only baseball they a player gave me so far. I am a Yankee fan. But even though I still liked this stadium. The mets still suck and will never win a championship again.

  • i love the mets and citifield has nice amenities, but imo it really does not compare to shea. shea is that place us old school fans cherish because we grew up on it

  • Screw C(Sh)iti field.

  • is it gay that this made me tear up

  • @boroandfriends

I almost cried when the ramps went down. Childhood stuff dude. I couldn't believe it.

  • Shea stadium was so much better.

  • i like how the smoke clears and shows citi field

  • good riddance that place was dump. go phillies and yankees!

  • @itswillbois Literally I have nothing to say but go fuck yourself. At least we didn't riot and burn our city in 86 when we won it.

  • @itswillbois lol bandwagon

  • I live in Philly BABY

  • fuck baseball, what is more important than gay baseball is that the beatles played the biggest show ever in that stadium

  • @BMizZ303

Wouldn't the biggest be their last which was at Candelstick Park?

  • mets suck go new york yankees

  • so many memories

  • typical New Yorker accents lol

  • whos that fucking faggot cunt whore who is shouting ye fantstic beutiful beitiful, the beatles playyed there man thats fucking history they destroyed , they should burn in hell

  • For a second, It looked like that was falling on top of Citi Field.

  • this is sad

  • @WTFproductionsX i agree

  • Now that Shea is gone, the last good stadium we have is Fenway. RIP Shea Stadium.

  • @nbafreak41 Fenway is a crap hole. Chi Town Cubs field looks more better. Yankees won a championship in there first seasons at the new stadium

  • @Crabman2186 Oh yeah, I forgot about Wrigley!

  • I bet those people cheering were Yankees fans.

  • It was all overcast-y and suddenly, as soon as the last piece came down and the smoke cleared, it was sunny.

  • The rich faggots finaly got their new fucking skyboxes in thier corperate shit hole of a stadium. Shea was a hell of allot better than gay ass citi field.

  • fuckin assholes

  • this is so sad.

  • Like Yankee stadium wasn't a dump faget let's go mets

  • I would have ran up and grabed anything I could after.

  • shea stadium was a dump!

  • @MBurns0420 Fuck you faggot. That place was like a home away from home for me.

  • HAHA and outtta the smoke comes a new stadium XD

  • Right after the foreman said "If u didnt get that shot, shame on u" I joked "Can I have a retake? Put it back up, we need a retake."

  • Good Times

  • I think I saw an image of Bin Laden's face in the smoke.

  • that was an unbelievable view. the second the smoke cleared citfield was there

  • well 1990 hornet your wrong they are demolishing it and making kids fields out of it

  • same basic idea (1990hornet's new account)

  • lol the last dude said "if didnt get tht shot SHAME on you" lol

  • by the way 08WSChamps i know that you of all people would appreciate this but...

HOLY CRAP IT LOOKED LIKE THE METS IN SEPTEMBER

  • What are you a Yankee fan?

  • How come the Mets have completely demolished Shea, but the Yankees have only just begun with Old Yankee?

  • "Old" Yankee stadium is becoming a new stadium for college and high school games, last I heard

  • ...that doesn't explain why the Yankee game schedule slates the whole area of old Yankee Stadium to become a (general recreational) park. Don't you need seats and some sort of structure for a stadium?

  • its becoming a park..there will be a pro size field..a softball field and a little league field in the area

  • the mets needed the area of shea for parking. the yankees do not because they have parking garages all around

  • Also, I read in SI that Old Yankee Stadium used an old kind of concrete (invented by Edison himself!) and, as with many types of older concrete/stone structures, they are actually harder and stronger and can resist demolition better than newer, steel-centric structures.

Shea...... I live in California, but I've bbeen a die-hard Mets fan since I was 7, when Piazza came to the Mets. I watched dozens, maybe hundreds of games on TV, both live and old games.

I never got to go. :(

  • Shea was pretty awful. It was cramped in the corridors, as well as dingy feeling. There was nothing behind center field worthy of interest. Especially near the end (i was at the last season game) They just kinda gave up on maintenence, so everything was falling apart.

The thing was, At Shea, I never got the heartpounding sensation i had whenever i would see the Yankees. There was just something...legendary about the place. The atmosphere, the relative closeness of the place. Both are gone now.

  • ya, but all it needed was a few renovations. (in my opinion anyway)

and btw, are you a mets or a yankees fan

  • sad

  • It would have been awesome of they were to do what they did in Atlanta, and paint an outline of the diamond and outfield wall on the parking lot. Also, a plaque where home base used to be would have been nice to.

  • Ive just played Taps

  • Boring!

  • Mets fans have seen worse things happen at Shea.

    -Marlins Fan

  • lol

  • Are those guys in the background Met haters or Yankee fans?

  • No, the park needed to go. End of story.

  • it was a shity stadium, they are probably met fans

  • How? Was it in bad shape? It was only built in 1964.

  • No, duh, they were Met fans.

All the jeers of rival fans that Shea was a dump fell on deaf ears.

Us Met fans loved that face, regardless of the fact that it wasn't a very good baseball venue. So many memories were had there.

  • Kind of a shame the Marlins won't have the honor this year of knocking the Mets out of the playoffs on the final weekend of the season...

  • Fuck the braves. Mets fans will admit we did choke big time last 2 years. But at least at the end of the year, we are still relevant. But I guess youve been very comfortable last couple years living in the shadow of the Mets Philly rivalry

    LETS GO METS!

  • I hope your ready for your Muts to have a horrible year. LOL.

  • same to you asshole. LETS GO METS!!

  • go yankees

yankees vs Red sox rivalry is way more fun than mets vs philly rivalty

  • Who says Mets vs Philly is a rivalry? Its mets and marlins my friend, Everytime theyre down here in miami, the stadium packs up like never before. 50% of the people go for the mets, the other half for the marlins.

  • I hate to tell you this buddy, but as a diehard Met fan that has been to Met-Phillie games, you are sadly mistaken.

Met fans HATE the Phillies, and Phillie fans HATE the Mets. Don't get me wrong, there's a rivalry with the Marlins, but it's no where near as intense as the Mets-Phillies Rivalry.

  • @PR1127 I'm a huge Braves fan but I, unlike other Braves fans, actually have respect for the Mets. It's the Yankees I can't stand.

  • @PR1127 sorry dude but the braves are leading the NL east XD

  • @PR1127 haha, mets suck bud

  • i dont see the braves making the playoffs

  • srry for rating 1 star meant to press play button

i wouldve kept that last piece up

  • i was at the last game... its sad to see it gone. my kids wil never see it. but at least we have CITI field. for the next 20years. snif....

  • fuck all you Boston fans..you cause all the drama and bullshit you whining cry babies. When I lived up there and I'd get carded going into a bar, or for a pack of smokes. If I was lucky enough to get served (I dont know if it was b/c I was from NY or they are that fucked w/ out of state ID's, b/c the dont take out of state ID's in MA...could you imagine if we did that here in NYC wha tit would do to tourism?) I would always hear "Your no Yankee fan right?" Well FUCK BOSTON! FUCK REDSOX! GO METS

  • @skymunro haha you said TIT

  • I don't know. I'd be crying if that happened to my nearby stadium. In fact I used to work at Foxboro Stadium. So of course I felt a little sad but the memories will stay with me. All the Football and all the concerts I've worked. Foxboro Stadium was a real blue collar stadium with blue collar people. People around the country often heard that it was a dump of a stadium. Lousy facilities, Lousy parking, Lousy traffic. Let me confirm it with you. IT WAS!!!!!! However I'll miss it.

  • We will never miss you shea stadium!!!!!!!!!

  • A good video guys, the guy with the hard hat on at the end makes it complete :)

  • Shea Stadium's final collapse.

  • How sad...Adios Shea....

    And fuk u philly fans.

They cheated to the World series.

The bosox and phillies can suk azz.

Pathetic they had to cheat 2 win.

    Yankees and Mets rule!

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty soon this is going to be Yankee Stadium :(

    In fact, They already started!

  • phillies rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • your a philly bitch your the most hated and untalented team in the whole country

  • That would be the Cubs

  • Comment removed

  • Fuk u philly fan

  • go to hell you big nosed bastard. Phillies suk ass. You think winning the world series in 4 innings makes u champs. No!

  • Comment removed

  • finally that fuckin eye-sore is gone!

  • the shea was a nice stadium !!!!

    R.I.P 2009

  • The Yankees are dropping into the cellar just as fast as their worthless owner is descending into dementia. Enjoy being No. 2 in New York and No. 4 in the Northeast as even being No. 3 is way too high for you to aim for.

  • Fuck You bro!

  • The Fish Year again.. (actually it would be 2 years, since we win it every 7 - but they'll do it early this year.)

As all the spanish people at the games say "Lesz go Marleeeeen'

  • Every 7 years ?

    Floriduh won in 1997 & 2003.......

  • Oh duh, my bad - I dunno why I thought '04 .. K , this is our year again, every 6

  • i saw my first baseball game there... its sad to see it go.

  • yAY explosions, destruction WOOO YEAH

    idiocracy is right again

  • I loved Shea Stadium and had many wonderful times there. Shame on those guys for cheering. They can go to hell.

  • Agreed!

  • They could have saved a little piece of it. Fond memories.

  • never forget the trip me my dad and my grandfather made in 06 to shea .... my grandfather was so happy that he saw a ball game with his son and his grandson...R.I.P "POPS" and to you shea =/

  • I can't believe it's gone. I got of the grand central and just saw citi field and it felt weird not seeing those caricatures on the side of shea.

  • That's depressing I'm gonna miss Shea, we have a new stadium "just" like everyone else... so what. RIP Shea.

  • It's amazing how from this angle, it looks like the dust of the old stadium is unveiling the new one.

  • My heart is breaking.... I thought that was reserved only for the end of the season.

  • dont worry. Im sure our Mets will save some heartache for us in September. Not that I'm counting on it.

  • yea i agree wit da guy below i mean wtf why would cheer shea was awesome rip shea

  • why would you CHEER! every met fan loved that place. Love ya Shea

  • cause they are done

  • i agree

  • sad to watch. Lets Go Mets!!!! XD

  • good video, as a phillies fan i've always went up to watch the PHillies there for a while, ive seen very ugly games by the Phils but i'll never forget in the summer of 08 when i was there for my last time and the Phillies had a 3 run 9th inning comeback to win. Now its time to visit citi, it was the same feeling 4 the PHils in 04 when the vet was imploded

  • A classy Phillies fan!

  • My god! I didn't think they existed!

  • @nymdan yea theres not to many of them but i always appriciate a good fan who isnt a hater

  • damn you guys should have taken a piece i wish i could

  • WOOO HOOOOO I can park on-site again!!

  • fuck you

  • Pretty ironic, this video also sums up the last two Mets' seasons. Goodbye, my favorite RC Cola can ! You will be missed !

  • Why are you assholes cheering?

  • I think they were cheering the demo crew who I must say, did an awesome job getting it down as quickly and as neatly as they did. Job well done indeed.

  • if they're cheering the demo crew then i totally agree. but if theyre cheering for other reasons they should shut up.

  • They were clearly cheering the demo crew. You can clearly hear them yelling stuff like "Great job guys" and so forth.

  • poor poor Shea...pooor poor ROCK HISTORY:-(

  • What was written on the building?

  • Its official-Shea is now gone

really sad but also excited to Citi Field. Sad that the Mets home is now gone.

    RIP Shea

  • Can I get an Amen....Shea was a dump. An example of how you can't shine sh*t. GO METS.....CITIFIELD!!!!

  • I am soooo looking forward to going to Citifield in 2009. I can't wait! I will always hold fond memories of Shea, particularly the 1986 season but it is time for the Mets to get a cozy new ballpark no one will be able complain about like people did about Shea.

  • Shea Stadium - 1964-2009. Gone, but not forgotten. (GO METS!!!!)

    You're next, Old Yankee Stadium......

  • Yeah. But at least Yankee Stadium is keeping the field area and turning it into ballparks.

Yankee Stadium-the REAL field of dreams.

    April 2009-The NEW Yankee Stadium!!!

  • at least Old Yankee stadium is reused for other purposes.

  • Bittersweet. Sorry to see Shea go, but I'm looking forward to Citi Field. Lets Go Mets! Thanks for all the memories. Shea. The good and bad! lol.

  • man that sucks to see

  • Good-bye, Shea Stadium. You will be sorely missed.:(

  • Comment removed

  • Way to go Dan!! I'm sorry I couldn't be there, but I knew you guy's would be there capturing the final seconds of Shea. That was a class act by Breeze. All through the demo it was like they didn't care about the place. They proved me wrong, Bravo Breeze Demolition!!!!!!!!!!
