@Sirvikrail -- The vehicle they scan has to be size-appropriate for them. Hence, Optimus, being the tallest, has the biggest vehicle form. Something like Frenzy scanning a jet or Ironhide scanning a Chevy Aveo would not work.

Transformers 1-3 the best trilogy in science fiction. This scene is..insane. The more I think about it, the more I get the feeling of why it's so epic for me.
Somehow....it feels like....Prime became representative to every dream I'd forgotten to keep near to my heart as I aged, and that...even more so....he'd found some way to traverse the intervening 20 years, and found me again.

It was suppose to be metaphorical of a child's imagination, and ironic because ironhide is the badass of the autobots and controversial in that he does not truly agree in not killing humans...yet there he just rises out of the pool and steps around the little girl.
When I went to watch this on the first day in the theatre, this was the only scene where everybody was silent and sat there in awe at the beauty of the cinematic. This is what made the first movie.

Originally it was meant to be Arcee in the pool (hence why the girl asked about the tooth fairy) but she was replaced by Ironhide. You even see him taking the form of the family's black pickup truck in the next scene. Where the hell would Optimus find a fucking semi in a suburban setting?? Optimus crashed in the open field.

@Bolt1995 They don't have the same appearance before coming to Earth because they get their vehicle form after scanning said vehicles on Earth. You can see that in the third movie when Decepticons soldiers arrive on Earth, one scans a big truck then transforms in it.
Ironhide dies in Transformers 3, Sentinel Prime betrays the autobots and kills him. Also Optimus Prime kills megatron in 30 seconds without a fight. Truly is a shitty franchsie.

I remember watching this scene fort he first time at the theatre. It was mostly packed with us older fans all staring wide eyed and open mouthed in absolute silence as Prime transformed. Then when we heard Peter Cullen say "My name is Optimus Prime" the place erupted :)

When I went to watch this on the first day in the theatre, this was the only scene where everybody was silent and sat there in awe at the beauty of the cinematic. This is what made the first movie.

@Bradsworld1 well think of it like this, optimus landed in the field when he transformed from that insertion mode u saw him running towards the road so he could scan the next vehicle that drove by ratchet landed in the street and sled into a building he hid behind the building and waited till it the emergancy response teams showed up, ironhide landed in the pool then got out then hid behind the tree and soon as it was clear he scaned the truck in the drive way of that house, jazz landed in the..

Ironhide crashed into the pool....I thought that was obvious..optimus crashed into a field and walked toward the street and scanned the.. semi truck ironhide scanned the to gmc topkick in the family with the pool's driveway

Dude, it's long been established that the one in the pool is Ironhide, not Optimus. Originally it was meant to be Arcee in the pool (hence why the girl asked about the tooth fairy) but she was replaced by Ironhide. You even see him taking the form of the family's black pickup truck in the next scene. Where the hell would Optimus find a fucking semi in a suburban setting?? Optimus crashed in the open field.
So stop being a know-it-all douche if you don't know anything.

i remember as a 4 or 5 year old, watching autobots/decepticons transform was only a few parts of the car sliding up/down, left or right. now about 9 years later....

Alright so I'm very confused at this scene, I know which Autobot is which, but when Optimus is standing in the field, he doesn't look at all like Optimus Prime? Do they have different forms before they come to Earth?

@Bolt1995 They don't have the same appearance before coming to Earth because they get their vehicle form after scanning said vehicles on Earth. You can see that in the third movie when Decepticons soldiers arrive on Earth, one scans a big truck then transforms in it.

Ironhide dies in Transformers 3, Sentinel Prime betrays the autobots and kills him. Also Optimus Prime kills megatron in 30 seconds without a fight. Truly is a shitty franchsie.

I remember watching this scene fort he first time at the theatre. It was mostly packed with us older fans all staring wide eyed and open mouthed in absolute silence as Prime transformed. Then when we heard Peter Cullen say "My name is Optimus Prime" the place erupted :)
