  • Facebook friends aren't normally real friends. I think YouTube is so much more friendly than people you know in real life

  • i am verry much part of the youtube community but until recently i didn't make proper videos. i think it should be mentioned that you don't have to make videos to be part of the community.

  • I WANNA JELLYBABY!!!

  • I got totally freeked out at the fact that I was sat here eating jellybabies and then you offered me a jellybaby.. o.O

And I would love to be a part of a youtube community, but i don't make videos so its really hard, but yeah, youtube friendships are just like any other friendship..

  • Please, get those vile jelly things away from me.

  • Brainy specs <3

  • ''..and you've just lost the game.'' Viva la VLR! ^_^

  • I want a jellybaby ..... i cant afford my own :(

  • You posted this on my 13th birthday, anyway what is a jelly baby. I'm american and i want to know so bad.

  • @The31Souleater They are babies... made out of jelly... amongst other things

  • You will rue the day you made me lose the game after 3 weeks of a game-free life... :/

  • I lost the game :( ... but still i love the video :P

  • you got closer and closer to us as this video went on.

  • on the laptop behind him he's on fb isn't he?

    XDD

    LIAM <3

  • I've made a couple videos and I would like to make more and be part of the youtube community. It seems like it'd be an amazing thing to be a part of.

  • @militaryjacketlover same here... :/

  • i lost the game :(

  • Friendships are about trust and respect and love (sorry for being cliche). Whether they are formed over the Internet is irrelevant.

On a different note, I watched the bit where you offer us a jelly baby at least 5 times because it was just so adorable.

  • I see people that can communicate with others on the other side of the world and who have formed strong friendships and communities with so many people ...

You must have some really great friends :)

  • Can I have a jelly baby please? :>

  • I had a snappy comment..... but I forgot it.......

  • I see it as an amazing community and it's so cool when you find out two of the people you are subscribed to are friends and make birthday videos and stuff...it's just so so cool.

  • thanks Liam, I just lost the game!

  • @jocko9955 crap. lost the game here too!

  • I would like a jelly baby, WHERE CAN I GET SOME?

  • Please can i have a jelly baby? Oh, go on, please??

  • it's an interesting question you've posed. I'm not a youtuber though I do have internet friends, and have been told the same thing. In my experience, those you meet on the internet can be better friends then people you know in 'real life'. I've never met my best friend, and as much as that sucks sometimes because I'd like to be able to give him a hug or go out for a pint with him, we wouldn't be as close are we are if we hadn't met through the medium of the internet, so I wouldn't change it.

  • @littleradge I think there (possibley incorrect use of there) are three types. The two you mentioned and the third type who are people who have alot of friends irl but they also have friends (or would like to make friends) that they've met through youtube.

  • if i travel back in time to 2008, track you down to the location your at in this video then can i have a jelly baby?

  • now i want a jelly baby :D

  • The game again -.-

Since I'm American I can't get jelly babies.....but because of DW it's my goal to get some next time I'm over in England :p

I love how during the little montage of hater comments there was at least one about looking like david tennant XD -3 brainy specs

  • I think the youtube community is a great thing; people all over the world can talk and have friendships and the fact that it's all done via video means that you know are talking to a real person, so it's much more personal.

Having said that, sometimes I really don't like watching the videos of gatherings; it's purely a jealousy/feeling left out thing, because I live in the countryside, so the gatherings are never near me or expensive to get to.

  • If I get a plane ticket and fly over there, can I have a jelly baby?

  • I see friends hanging out and making new friends.

  • Roast Beef; Bananas; The Medusa Cascade; Bang!; Rose Tyler, Martha Jones, Donna Noble, Tardis!; Bingle Bongle Dribble Drooble; Oh, Doctor, You're so handsome. Yes I am, Thank you.; A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O...

  • Thing 1: I already know they are two different countries;Thing 2: what game?; Thing 3: I think you did a tongue flick in the midnight dancing vid. Was that intentional?, because you might've scarred your "Voyage of the Damned" promo poster for the rest of its life.

  • I don't make videos because my mic doesn't pick up sound (and I'm too lazy to get a new one). So instead I comment a lot and drive people crazy :D

  • I love the idea but i cant go to many gatherings cus im underage and nobody holds any near where i live wich is seriously depressing

Btw are you in the lake district cus i swear i say a place like that when i was there on holiday afew years back

  • I see the YouTube gatherings a a kind of family reunion....only most of the time they are not family.....

  • Youtubers are totally friends!! XD my view is tho that online freindships can be more hurtful as people can't see you face to face often so might take unoffencive things as offensive so I kinda avoid them myself now xD is cool while it's friendly though

  • What exactly is the game?

  • Was Tom Baker your first doctor?

  • He just greeted the camera in an ESTUARY ENGLISH FREAKING ACCENT! Scream for joy, David Tennant addicts!

  • if I nicked the Tardis for a bit and went back to 2008 on the 27th of January (probably pop back for a jumper because England is ALWAYS cold but January is just depressing, thats why I wear lumious stuff) and went to the countryside, worked my way through from Somerset to Devon to uhh some more countryside and went to every pub and finally found you THEN could I have a jelly baby???

  • Yay classic Who! No, it's been months since I lost the game. :(

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOi lost the game...

  • Youtubers are friends !!!!

  • yeah youtubers are friends! I would love to go to gatherings but im too young.

  • when i see stuff about gatherings and such i really do not feel great,

i'd love to be part of gatherings and such, but 1. i'm 15. 2. there are no gatherings around here and 3. that is all. :(

  • *growly face at all the people in these comments that deserve a growly face*

  • There are no Jelly Babies where I am. =(

  • I think that YouTube is a brilliant community were friends can be made. I would love to be more involved such as going to gatherings but the fact that a) I'm 15 b) I don't make videos makes me feel as though it would just be awkward for everyone involved. I

  • Always bring a banana to a party...

  • @InRelativeTime Bananas are good.

  • I know this was a mega mega long time ago- like 'nomi hasnt got her a level results yet' long time ago- but when I see all the vlogs and the collabs and everything- I wish i could go to the meetups and make my own and get stuck in but am always stuck with a major case of "i have nothing of interest to say" - that being said, theres different groups of YT friends- I'm big with fanvideos and the like, tho even then, I'm not a major one- i.e. it isnt one a day every day- interesting questions :)

  • I just started making videos, and i thought about gatherings for a while though. I think the fact is that they just cater for a specific type of youtuber. For one, you have to be pretty old, i'd say 17+ otherwise your parents might find it weird that you meeting people on the internet, no matter how interesting/nice they seem. Also, its mainly in london in this country, so it might be expensive for people like me who are in manchester. Also, I think you'll feel out of place if you aren't popular

  • I think that this community is an interesting place. I don't make videos myself, since I just haven't got the time, but I do think that people can make friends online. If they couldn't I know at least two of the bands I listen to on a regular basis wouldn't exist.

  • Hmm...well I can't make videos until I'm 16 because my parents are paranoid and stuff, but I'd love to make videos and go to gatherings and stuff because I seem to relate to people on the internet more than most people my age/at my school, but I kinda feel cut-off because I can't make videos for another three years, and most of my favourite Youtubers wouldn't want to be friends with a random 13 year old anyway.

    lol, sorry, just rambling XD

  • Ur a geographical genius. Tell me more.

  • There IS no city in English countryside...

  • Where in England were you working?

  • I think Youtube is amazing and awesome and brilliant. I'm gonna start making videos next year because of all the vids I've seen of people having fun vlogging. Though right now I'm a blogger.

  • I think the YT community is really amazing. I'm not involved in video making as I have no confidence but if I did, I would love to be part of the YT community as everyone just seems to get along really well. I was in London recently and saw a YT gathering and thought it looked like everyone was happy.

  • hi jack

  • just got my first you tube account just so i can subscribe to ur videos, they are so good, and u have a really good voice (sing to the 8 ball) was not expecting that at all, anyway will stop writing so u dont get sick of me in my first ever you tube comment, thnx 4 posting!

  • imma steal your batman shirt, ur so hyper i wanna be ur friend :)

  • @blainyrules Derr, dey tuk err jerrrbs!

  • @littleradge Hahahaha best comment ever.

  • @littleradge Derkie derrrrr

  • @littleradge what does that mean

  • @blainyrules

if you didn't want "other nationalities" coming to your country then you probably shouldn't have invaded most of those other nationalities' homelands. just a thought.

  • @blainyrules Idiot. I'm English, and it's our own 'fault' people started to work in this country anyway. Who gives a flying fuck?!

  • @blainyrules You're an idiot

  • @blainyrules puta

  • @blainyrules hes from scotland. so if youre aiming this at him youre a cunt

  • I think the YT community is great - I'm not really involved, I don't make videos or anything, purely because I think I'm too awkward to be entertaining! xD but I do think it's a great way to meet people and the events look like fun :)

  • I dont make videos. I could but i'm so busy with uni and i suppose i'm a little shy for want of a better word. However i do believe youtube is the most wonderful way to make friends and meet new people. I have many friends that make videos, one of my friends organised a gathering in edinburgh and john green attended since it was before the book festival! it was one of the best days of my life! just getting to meet new people in such a beautiful location! it was so much fun :)

  • I love the fact that he fit a nerdfighter and a doctor who reference into a 10 second span.

  • when u said bannanas i so expected you to say "i like bananas...bananas are good"

  • I just watch videos on youtube and always want to make videos on youtube but don't have a camera, a computer with a camera, or any ideas. So I stick to just watching videos. When I see info about gatherings it's usually in england (Except when I watched one of owlssayhoot's videos, where there was a gathering in seattle ((which is about 15 miles from where I live)), but I was two months too late :( ) so I never go to gatherings.

  • well then i wish i was there so i can have a jelly baby :)

  • I LOST THE GAME O0O NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

  • I tend to look at the Youtube community as a high school type setting. Only, it's generally a LOT less harsh and a lot more fun. There are a lot of people that are entertaining or that I wish I knew better, but that I never really feel like I have an attachment or connection to. Then there are others that I really connect with and relate to, these people feel like my friends and I truly care about them. It's definately a real community, just better than it would be in real life in a lot of ways.

  • @waigurl19 ikr? YT is like high school in soooo many ways...

    *H8rs

    *Nerds

    *Mean girls

*Bullies (goes along w/ mean girls)

*I love that movie mean girls.....

    *I also like doctor who

    *And chocolate

    *Especially milk chocolate :D

  • bananas are good

  • @TwistedVanilla15 yes they are ;)

  • 'You're scottish, fry something!'

  • I believe it's a real community. To be honest, I am jealous of you guys :) The friendships are in a way stronger, simply because you get to know people who have a lot in common with you (ie complete geeks XD) from all over the place. It looks like so much fun... But I don't make Youtube videos. For a couple of reasons, I live in New Zealand so could never participate in Youtube gatherings, and I don't know what I could actully talk about. Also I have no musical talent.

  • What do I think about the Youtube Community? In my personal opinion, even though I don't necessarily take part in it, I think it is a real community. Friendships are between people who have something in common, and I don't think it matter whether you find that commonality online or in person. I think people are a little too closed minded about things that they don't understand or makes them feel uncomfortable.

This was a wonderful video. Thanks for posting.

  • @adyellyott i agree entierly and i sometimes wish i could be a part of the youtube community

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH, LIAM. I just lost the game -__-

  • I just have an account so I can subscribe to people because I felt bad I was watching them yet not making them more popular and I think gatherings are really good but I wouldn't personally go to one because I don't feel I have the right too because I don't make videos! That's my opinion of the community of YouTube and I think Liam is really cool as well :D

  • bananas are good

  • ooooooooooooooooo kaaaaaaaaay what i think of youtube gatherings? GOOD. THEY IS GOOD. I have never been to a youtube gathering but I know gatherings are alot of fun so... woop woop!

    Friends over Internet?

ok, it is a lil' odd, but if you get to know them well, then... why not?

  • Why has there not been any comments here for a year?? :( well now im going to comment for the sake of it, and i dont feel like thinking cause its 1 AM and incapable of thinking this late, BUT i do LOVESS your videos!! :D

  • I'm a couple years late on this discussion, story of my life. I've only recently started watching YouTube regularly, as in earlier this year. The majority of the cool stuff to watch is out of date. My constant reaction is 'I wish I had known about that and/or had enough money so I could go there and meet all those cool people' I see true friendship, and, if I meet anyone who watches what I watch, I know we'll have a lot in common. So of course we'll be friends! But that hasn't happened yet.

  • Love your vids toots :) you've got a great look on life, don't change that for anyone! Ive spent a lot of time in London recently! It scares me down there.. theres no hills!! Im from Aberdeen so I'm used to hills... and losing mobile signal as soon as you step out of a built up area! :p

I also do a lot of poi/fire spinning and flow arts and have met amazing people... none of whom I would have met without the use of les internets! So Mr "wwwdot" I Salute you! ...and give you big hugs! ^_^

  • you are the doctors son

  • damn it i lost the game again!!! :) second video in a row! :) great video btw :)

  • I love the youtube community, i'm so jealous of the friends people make online. i watch others and really enjoy many youtubers vids espeacially collabs such as fiveawesomegirls and guys and it shows true friendship. I believe that you can totally make really close friends online in a way you can't outside. When you meet people offline you find out about them, then decide whether they are like you enough to be your friend, its the opposite online, you get to know them before you meet them.

  • I love all the 'Was that David Tennant?" in the rushed writing.

  • I just started the youtube community

(well i did in December but im getting into it now)

I love the community! I think it is a great way to make friends, and I hope to get to some gatherings and such. I planed to go to vidcon but my swing choir tour got in the way. I want to get known more so I'm trying to make some vlogs or videos (and my own who series). I really liked this video! :D i know this comment is coming late lol :P

  • ake it it's in wales

  • stop making me loose the game you sexy scottish twat (:

  • I'd be your youtube friend!! You always make me laugh :D because you are uber funny

  • JELLY BABIES!

To answer your question littleradge I think that I see good friends, I see that they are a group of people that aren't afraid to put themselves out there and introduce themselves to the world!

  • DAMN IT LIAM! i lost the game yesterday too GOD!!

  • youtube is like a whole new world!!!!!!!....but i'm sad that you made me lose the game

  • Scotland is England's bitch!

  • i dont make vids but when i see stuff with like gatherings and shit, i dunno you all seem like celebs like your real ppl and real friends but on a whole different universe if that makes any sence at all. but yeh would be sick to be part of the community.

  • @maxiemouse1 Yeah i get what you mean, like if i ever saw you out id be like OMG LIAM!!! A PIKATURE I MUST HAVE !!!

haha but id like to get more into the community just not so sure people want to watch vids of me talking...hmm

  • I agree, youtube friends are real friends... sometimes. Let me explain. I'm not in the youtube community because my webcam SUCKS, and I'm not that interesting (^_^) but I have made 2 amazing friends on a website called livejournal, both in separate countries. We've never met but I chat regularly with one, and whenever I catch the other through the 5 hour time gap, and intend to meet both within 2 years. So yes, if you make an effort and hit it off, cyber friends ARE real friends. :)

    Georgia x

  • nice vid were from scotland too there needs to be more big youtubers from scotland :)

  • uh! damn , i hadn't lost the game in a while 'til you mentioned it :L

  • i wish i could have a jelly baby :-(

i don't really make videos but i think that gatherings and stuff sounds really good!

btw where abouts in england are you?.... were you?

  • around 0:58 you shudda said "bananas are good"

I never realy thought about the YT comunity. if anythiing I'm jelous. I WANNA BE VLOGGER! :(

  • haha nice video mate! be careful i came here just to learn english and then i thought : ah just one year more, and then here i am ,10 years living in England !! i even decided to make videos teaching other foreigner how to understand thing over here ,but you got english as a first language and that is a big advantage !! great videos carry on :)

  • did you like it in england i live here but im scottish well half anyway

  • when i saw the vid on the glasgow gathing i totally wished i was there, it looked so much fun and something like what me and my close friends would do. i dont make videos but would love to and never really know what to say in one. I think you can totally be friends over the internet.

  • Damn lost the game again

  • I'm not really involved in the community and don't make any videos (YET!), but i think it's wonderful that you guys are meeting up and making friends and stuff x3 i think the internet might even be a BETTER way to make friends in some ways, i mean you're not restricted to only meeting people that live where you do, you can meet all kinds of different people from different cultures all over the world =] far more variety! I aprove ^_^

  • It does look abit like Yorkshire. We're surrounded by fields. :|

  • Making friends over the internet is very strange... But also very possible.

  • See Is I Come Over, Can I Get A Jelly Baby. ?

  • Same here. This account is quite new, you see I play a game called:

    Disney's Toontown Online uk

I am a purple dog called Woof with 104 laff points (tell me if you no my toon! and you play)

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx sapphire peace out

  • I think the community is great and you can make great friends online. I don't personally use youtube as much as other websites, but I know where you're coming from cause of the people I've met in other online communities. I would try and be on the youtube one more but I'm too young to put my face on the internet for my own safety probably. Great vid, loving the T-shirt x

  • He is hot with glasses on hehehe :}

  • I've just los tteh GAME!!! Where about in Rngland are you? It looks like somewhere up north, like yorkshire

  • ACK!

Damn you, now I've lost the game!

But I did know they were seperate. ): I live in England. No fair!

  • i have my own jelly babies. LOL

  • when he put the glasses on i thought..."it's david tennants love child!!"

  • I think England sucks everyone hates each other.. Not like Scotland where everyones friendly..sort of :P but they still have fun.

  • lol, IN-GER-LAN-DA is my home ;[

    it deserves it's rightful name.

    United Kingdom

    Great Britian

    England

    scotland fits in?

    I DON'T KNOW I'M STUPIDDD ;[

  • 0:47 you bastard! xD

  • Hello. There are cool things on the net. (I really enjoyed your "Truth about David Tennet" Blog. Discussing that would be very cool, at least there is entertainment value.) But there are also very stupid things on the net. I think gathering and discussing Sally's 15th music video in tribute to The Doctor or Little Ben's 24th video dedicated to David's gay kisses on stage, is on the stupid side. I think it comes down to what are they doing? Are they wasting time or doing something worthwhile?

  • Bananas are good.

  • not fair =p

  • is the place in England Yorkshire perchance? because those walls and feilds and building structure look like Yorkshire

  • ah, haha, where did the " I like bananas, bananas are good" go? x)

  • yes i wud like a jelly baby lmao :P

  • can u emails me teh candies?

go to my page for e-mail and teh cadndiees!

  • friends are friends

if they are good friends it doesnt matter where or how you met them

    or at least it shouldnt

    :P

  • Friendships are friendships, whether their made over Youtube or not.

but then theres the people who wanna be friends with some other guy(s) but they say that buddy requests and stuff like that are for friends only, as in really close friends only :( wah.

  • i see friendships. it's just another friend making medium to me.

  • Lol I love how Alex, Charlie and Liam all saty goodbye the same way. It's adorable. And yes, I believe that you guys are all good friends in R.L. It's awesome watching videos that interconnect with each other :D

  • youtube fi=riendships are real friend ships, and even though i dont have any friends over here, i know you are all real good friends here =)

  • GRRRR this video made me loose the game (not cuz I didn't know England and Scottland are separate countries, I did know that. but when you said lost the game I thought about the game and of course by definition, lost the game). NOT FAIR!!!!

lol that bit at the end took some skills!!!

  • Damn you!!

  • Sorry :(

  • i love that a lot of my subscription people are friends! it makes it so much more fun to watch them interact with each other.

  • liam...liam...you made me lost the game....doubleyou tee eff man. <3.

  • I'm new to youtube, which is why I'm replying ages late, but i feel that friends are people you genuinely want to know more about. To me, they're people who (although they may live forever and 12 years away) stick in your mind as someone you either 1) know a lot about by information supplied by them or 2) want to know more about because they have common interests with you. I want to get more into the youtube community, but am currently hesitant about the video making, so I'm working my way up.

  • Of course YouTube friendships are real friendships!

Especially if you go all out with the gatherings and whatnot.

I've always wanted to go, but have never been able to convince anyone - and if I were to convince anyone, it'd be my cousin who is in the rather same area of vidders as I am - to go with me :(

On a totally unrelated note, you have superfantastic hair.

  • Lol hi hogwartshonorroll. I was just surprised to see your comment here so I thought I'd say hello :) And of course I agree with your comment , have a nice day!

  • 2:26 cute little laptop btw.

  • My God!! I didn't know they had cloned David Tennant!!!! Lol

  • Aww pet, it's a YouTube video, not a television. No switches.

  • Aside from the odd comment, I've not really put anything into the Youtube community...yet. (Be careful Lil'Radge, you may have unleashed something unpleasant on the world!)

However, it's obvious to anyone watching that you guys have bonded and formed real friendships over time, no matter how it happened. It's special to you, and so it's stupid for others to say that that's not real.

I guess the important thing is balance. As long as you can juggle Youtube-life and 'real'-life, it's all good!

  • you can't laught together, can't experience things together, and blablabla, but I have respect for it and i perfectly understand the people who think of it as a real community

  • I know, i'm a little late, but anyway:

my opinion 'bout the youtube-community is that indeed; you can make really good friends, and sometimes people get married! so that's fucking awesome! but then you've got the other side of the medaillon; 1. I don't really believe you can have the same feeling as with real people. because if you live 200 miles away from each other or you live in difrent country's,

  • NOOOOOOOOOO the game!!! i havent thought about it for 6 months... NOOOOOOO

  • Where is this workplace again?

  • I think it's ... Scotland.

  • Yeah, I think you're right.

  • I think it's absolutely amazing! To be able to connect with people on a personal level with people thousands of miles away through space and time(zones). Not only is the internet being used for communication and info. but it is used to create meaningful relationships aswell. I think it's awesome :P

  • i want a jelly baby!!!

    lol. tom baker..

  • i think that youtube is a great comunity with get power over other things outside of youtube. youtube connects people around the world that you would have never met before. like, imagine if you never met min! that would suck, right? i dont know how you met her, but i bet that there are SOOOOOO many ways that people could meet on the internet. i guess that it can be distracting from real life, but like all things you have to limit yourself. just the way it works.
