Im Not Trying To Be Mean Or Anything... Im Not Brilliant At Riding,, But The Objective Of The Lesson is To Learn.. And by the end of the lesson they seem to have conquered some 80cm or so jumps... that an achievment.. it might have been the riders fault, and some bit the horse,, But Atleast They Tried. Alot Of Horses Are Harder Than The Other.. I'v Been Riding 9 Years,And I Only Jump 1.20m jumps and i fall off alot... If The Horse Tia Is Very Strong Maybe Try A Stronger Bit Other Than A Snaffle.
I hate people who critique on videos like this because it was from over 3 years ago and everybody has bad days!
Anyways I would get really annoyed at those poles they fall so easily! Where I ride you have to really slam it for it to fall. Maybe that's not good or safe but that's what I'm used to.

its funny seeing all the comments about shortening the reins. I ride western and continualy tell my kids to loosen their reins. (not saying one is beter just found the difference funny)
as for gone wrong I would not say that. sometimes falling off and dealing with problems is the best way to learn.
This is just a question, but why didn't the girl on the pony named Tia shoeten her reins? In my head that would've helped a lot with getting the pony over the jump. But hey what would I know... I don't like jumping (terrorfied by it). ;)

Was in Lexington over the weekend and saw tons of hollow backed horses as they were going over jumps. All the riders using more bit and less leg if any.

FFS this was 2 years ago ... we listen to advise just not from idiots on youtube from our instructor.
We have improved since then but not by listening to advise that says to beat the pony till it listens or crap like that ... violence is not the answer.

I have been smacked across the face with one, and honestly, its not that bad for me and im only 100 pounds, imagine a horse being smacked with one to get thier attention... hmm and they are what 900-1200 pounds, yeah, you do the math, a crop is like a fly bite.
ok you do that then...! once you do that wait untill the horse pops over and u are not ecpecting it!!!!! search "bad rider plus good horse= BROKEN NOSE" !!!! that will happen!! just keep at it like Phoebe until the horse jumps then the horse knows whos boss!!! ur way the horse will get lazy and you will have no trust, and no controll over the horse!!!! if that were me i probably wouldve tryed again and again and if not!!!! well.... another way is to put poles on either side of the jump
nope the horse will pretty much laugh at you dont get so defensive my technique works it teaches the horse not to mess around and if you are a good rider you will grab some mane so than you dont fall on his neck and break your nose ive been taught by the best and we make champion horses so who are you to speak

I think Phoebe did quite well! Tia looks like a VERY strong pony, and when you're 10 you aren't going to have alot of strenght in your legs!

FFS this was 2 years ago ... we listen to advise just not from idiots on youtube from our instructor.
We have improved since then but not by listening to advise that says to beat the pony till it listens or crap like that ... violence is not the answer.

is seriously does but not with every horse only certian ones such as riding school ponies which have got lazy and noughty some of them. Tia in this video needed it as she ran out a lot so yes she should have had a spankin which should work :)

I have been smacked across the face with one, and honestly, its not that bad for me and im only 100 pounds, imagine a horse being smacked with one to get thier attention... hmm and they are what 900-1200 pounds, yeah, you do the math, a crop is like a fly bite.

make them stand and hit them hard with your crop and make them jump it

ok you do that then...! once you do that wait untill the horse pops over and u are not ecpecting it!!!!! search "bad rider plus good horse= BROKEN NOSE" !!!! that will happen!! just keep at it like Phoebe until the horse jumps then the horse knows whos boss!!! ur way the horse will get lazy and you will have no trust, and no controll over the horse!!!! if that were me i probably wouldve tryed again and again and if not!!!! well.... another way is to put poles on either side of the jump

nope the horse will pretty much laugh at you dont get so defensive my technique works it teaches the horse not to mess around and if you are a good rider you will grab some mane so than you dont fall on his neck and break your nose ive been taught by the best and we make champion horses so who are you to speak

y would the horse laugh at me??? it has no where to go so it has to jump!!! it cant refuse!!! well it can but you just try again!!! and you might not fall of that person didnt! she broke her nose because she hit it on her horse!!! and grabing mane wont help!!! well you keep making those "champion" horses!!! and how many horses do you have??? i bet you dont even have a bond with the horses you "train" or should i say torture?? if u had a bond that might help your riding!!! torturer!!!

reminds me of a 'horror' showjumping lesson i had. every single person fell off except me (and that's just thanks to my horse)... it was bad! everone was covered in bruises and scrapes

I have nothing against Phobe!, Yes she does need some more lessons but dont need to get all funny about it. she's only 10 years old and i own a very strong pony to but everybody battles out in the end.

Mrs Bumble...what a name =]...Hurc looks really big btw. I think a lot of this was down to riding errors...sorry but Phoebe isnt a very good rider in this vid, i agree with Henderer5...great video =]
