I think it is the difference in styles, 80's metal has mainly one riff that carries on throughout the song will this verges more towards metalcore, if ever so slightly making the riffs change more. Also, i think A7x wanted this song to be more raw than their other songs as i guess it may be influenced by Justin Sane's death :)
