Ask yourself Singaporeans. You are opposing the wrong policy made by government or merely PAP itself? Go ask your father and mother about SG history. You shall live like Burmese and Singapore had probably destroyed by Msia or northern side country since long ago without the effort of PAP and LKY --- by a Msian.
Singaporeans are short, have slitty eyes, flat noses, yellow/brown/black skin, and speak English in a way that is unintelligible to white tourists. Oh, Singaporeans have bad body odour, too. These little monkeys think they are so great and so smart, when in fact they are little worms that Westerners find amusing to look at and listen to.
even after being forewarned by the oppoaition, 60.1% singaporeans still chose to be screwed.
singaporeans have been played out wholesale when the pap allowed more than one million foreigners - just before ge 2011 - to become citizens so that they can win ge2011.
I don mind those expats living in singapore. They help set the standards of a cultured and civilised society. But the foreign labour are somewhat lowering standards of civilisation and culture in singapore which singaporeans have been trying so hard for years to improve to become a true first world city. Its not that i look down on the foreign labour, i acknowledge their efforts to build up singapore...
The truth is, Singaporeans are too unskilled for any type of work. All jobs in Singapore needs foreign workers. Singapore is a nation of dumb spoiled brat citizens.
@MrTaipan55 Painfully true. I really don't now how Singaporeans can continue to compete with the rest of the world, without a large pool of skilled foreign workers.
My opinion is that this is basically a "PAP smear". According to Wikipedia, "As of 8 August 2010, Singapore is the fastest growing economy in the world, with a growth rate of 17.9% for the first half of 2010." Now that ain't too bad.
The rest of the world has been in recession since 2008, but Singapore has been doing OK. How much better could they have done? Home prices are sky high, though, admittedly.
The best way to keep out foreigners is survive without your maid. Easier said than done.
Seems that majority of our countrymen prefer to swallow whatever there is upcoming. I salute the folks in HG & AJN! They believe in the importance of an alternative voice and, importantly, people with Hearts, and Ears with voices.
Whateva la wth all the comments below,as long as the results proiven,we want em BUT we demand the foreigners policy to be dissolves, our children has no place, its clear. The policy of taking professional talent in is not UPHOLD,plz dun capped it at construction labor!Too many forignersssss Shit,
the 81 PAP supporters will realise their mistakes when they died and see their children suffered and they can do nothing about it, cos they need to are under under ruling hell party down under...gd luck to these ignorant idiots...

What happens when you have Malaysian and Foreigners working as Human Resource managers in a company at Singapore.Employ more Malaysians and retrench Singaporeans.Just go to Mustafa center and see how Malaysian cashiers work, they just throw your change at you.Changi Airport was NUMBER 1 because of Singaporeans, now its lost its titled because of cheap foreign labours.Look at the major security companies, almost 90% consist of malaysians. The working quality of this people are garbage.
Agency friend said Singaporeans are too fussy. They can reject a job because its a 1k different (8-9, 7-9). Some complained of location, long duration etc. way too fussy. So in a way i think Singaporeans should also reflect upon themselves n think if they are this category of employee. If u are, then dont complain.
Agree with @exaurius that it is even better if it is not secret so the votes could be posted online and everyone can see if their votes were counted! Scared of what?
Your vote is secret!!! Don't be afraid! As Prof Tambyah said don't be afraid that the PAP track you because you vote for opposition. They can't even track one limping man in baju kurong swimming across the straits. (Mas Selamat) Hahaha...
The quality of PAP candidates are so bad that many people are saying openly that they are voting for the opposition!
A very interesting video clip. Emotional, Enlightening and rather Entertaining too. The music piece was well selected, if watching it without the music would be rather flat and lack that punched. So the pictures along with the message at appropriate moments of the music made this a very good clip to watch. It even had a funny moment at the end of it... Well made, very creatively made indeed...
I guess Chua is trying tell you to step out of your anti-PAP mindset for once so that you can stand in a neutral stance and keep an open mind whilst analyzing the pros and cons of each party. Just because the opposition has managed to stir up the anti PAP sentiments within you, doesn't mean you have to hate the PAP blindly. Has it ever occurred to you that the issues which opposition parties have cited are actually global ones? Has it also ever occurred to you that all these pent-
RC and CCC members have priority in housing and enrolment of kids to the preferred school within the constituency. I know because that was how my son got in. Will we end up with 87-0 come 8 May?
1] A good government is one that is truthful enough to let the citizens know:
1] The status quo of the financial reserve so that the citizens will know whether the ruling government is doing a good job or not! For if the citizens are ignorant of the status quo of the reserve, then Singapore is at risk of facing collapse anytime as the ruling government is running Singapore like a World Business Corporation. For when its business[WBC] fails, Singapore will be financially bankrupt!
2] The assets of all MPs. When the assets of the MPs are made known, then we will know whether they would be good MP to govern or not as then Singaporean would be certain that there would be no conflict of interests - that is, their vested interests in public listed companies conflicting with the interests of the Citizens - their interests in ONLY caring for themselves more than caring for the interests of Singaporean.
I have some questions, i am not sure the sources i get is reliable, just to clarify.... It is true that people who under PAP's clubs have more benefits such as Q-ing for HDB and some other perks? The answer will decide my vote for aljunied. Please show me some news evidence
@sylbestian I had spent 8 years serving the RC during the 1980s. I have priviledges such as free parking around the whole GRC and priorty registration for my children entering primary schools. I already owned a HDB flat at the time, but I know I do get priority in application for HDB. That is the RC. I never joined the PAP. I left the RC because I was pissed off when the PAP asked me to distribute their leaflets during election time. RC is not PAP and should not be used by the PAP.
Heard of registering the children in school in the same category with school volunteers. But have never heard of getting a HDB flat through RC. E.g. how does the HDB balloting system recognise a RC member? When applying flat, how to indicate you're a RC member? I don't think it's possible to get priority for flat by joining RC.
@welovewelaughweshare I served the RC from 1984 to 1992, starting from being a member and promoted to Secretary of the RC. At the time, it is strictly volumteer work, no pay, no allowances. I believe this has changed, there could be some allowances given to the RC volunteers, I am not sure about this. Back then, HDB buyers are on a Queue System, there is a special queue for volunteers of RC, CC, CCMC, etc. Now, I do not know if the HDB queue system still exists.
@welovewelaughweshare ... continue ....There may be units reserved for volunteers. Volunteering for RC is a good thing. I enjoyed helping old folks who could not read their letters or serving them tea and mooncakes during festivals. When the proposal to give allowances to volunteers came up for debate, I was against it. The true spirit of giving and serving is marginalized. I left.
A system where it allows full control in the hands of a few is dangerous. The old guards have passion to make this small island work. The new generation leaders are not the same. Every department is run like a profit centre. Money becomes the only motivation.
ignore the losers posting here, singapore is a great country for people willing to work hard and live ina fiar society, the cry babies here are either lazy bums, alcholics or people who expect things on a silver plate
and yes, the opposition picks its members from this crowd, they are all over the internet penting fury, but in real life you don't see them
@bjayar01 lazy bums? alcoholics? people who expect things on a silver plate? from the moment you were born you were NEVER on the same playing field with everyone else and you are too naive to not see that. does the children of the PM have the same opportunities as the children of a hawker centre stall owner? is tuition free? meritocracy is bullshit.
the reason why you know of exceptional cases where the lower-income families manage to attain high-income jobs is because they're the EXCEPTIONS
@bjayar01 you must be a young, relatively well paid wage earner, who will not take risks, just follow the procedures, work till 65 and retire. Keep your fingers crossed that no major problems occur in your work day, day after day. If anything not sure, check the procedures. If all the procedures checks out, OK. If not, reject. Do what the boss says, nothing will go wrong. You are probably working for the civil service or a GLC. You live a pathetic life.
when u ask an american, "what does it mean to be an american?" they talk about human rights and why they are proud to be an american..they have a rich long history and people really have a sense of belonging.
ask a singaporean the same question, you'll probably get blank looks as if you are some weirdo freak or worse still, get a person who stomps his feet and screams "I DUNO WHAT TO SAY!" we've become a bunch of ppl devoid of a sense of identity.
Singaporean are not longer a fearful bunch. People from all walks of life are coming forward to speakup. And the internet has truely helped us realised that our strait times and CNA are the mouth piece of PAP. Just when we thought this only happened in North Korea. PAP has censored and kept it's citizens in the dark for decades. Every regime will end someday, is PAP's times up? Will it decline slowly or this election is it's last.
I am sure each person has a few faults/flaws – i.e. not perfect. But I am also sure that each person have many many wonderful strengths.
PAP has many faults/flaws but for every flaw or mistake they have, there is a million other things that they did right. One should ASK: Generally, is PAP a good government? Not has the government made some mistakes - DEFINITELY IT HAS My choice is for the best government, not a perfect government.
but we dont see the opposition having better plans.. just the ideals that everyone wants. can we really bank 4/5 years on unproven theories/promises? sg is at a crucial point, where our growth is peaking/plateauing.. if we make the wrong move, its like it could lead to the start of our decline. then salary increase would be the least of our problems. i guess sg is like a company like you said. we gotta stay united, in momentum, and have our country keep moving forward..
Don't vote for the opposition just cause we dont like PAP :) out political stability hangs in the balance! though i agree PAP implements a lot of stuff that makes life difficult for us (lol) i feel its inevitable cause we're a developed nation. countries like japan, housing costs has risen so high it takes generations to pay off, and we're definitely heading in that direction, its just a matter of when.. so dont stop progress just cause we want cheaper housing!
@belledameselfy maybe i mean it wouldnt hurt right... like a lot of major singapore companies belong to their family so its stands to reason that they have every intention of making singapore a successful global institution. Theyve got vested interest. Theyll make sure singapore doesnt go down.
I want the 5-foot-walkway to be safe again for walking, because I am sick and tired of having to look out for cyclists coming to close for comfort. Is like telling me to 'get out of his way' and I have to walk on the road thus endangering myself.
Ok ! Let the Opp. Do what they said, close all the manufacturers, chase out all the foreigner worker, give 100% free medical, give full welfare to Singapore, reduce GST, cut income tax, use all our nation reserve to create a welfare nation, Singaporean not need to work also have salary every month.... BTW, where to get all the $ needed?

The over-the-edge, dramatic background music aside, please take the time and view this video. Is it a time for change? Do we need a change (think ERPs, HDBs, and the tidal wave of PRCs....!)?
[Change the things we cannot accept.
Accept the things we cannot change.]
But is this really something that we cannot change?
i dont see it, bias unless what happened to the late JB Jeya was not biased.... if politicians are ALL the same....then lets have a variation. the great US of A is a 2 party house, the democrats and the republicans. at least 10 opposition seats in parliament, its a start.
Lets b fair n be resposible.. the video is very bias.. look arnd u and see our living conditions. The cost may be high bt we all can afford some the luxuries life hold for us. The cost of livin n the HDB prices r soaring n im sure PAP's lookin fr alternatives. bt i believe in a multi-party system n Im a SDP supprtr .wished they contested here in aljunied instead of WP, wonderful leaders bt i cant see a mostly chi speakin party represnting singapore. no offence though. Progress thru Cohesion!
1. Foreigners taking Singaporeans jobs? Look at our unemployment rate.. Its @ 2.1%. They are taking most our unwanted jobs. (construction, cleaning)
2. Overcrowding public transport. Lets see if the upcoming circle line and DT line is able to mitigate this problem. every city have their share of congestion issue.
3. Increasing foreign students in our university is one of the strategy to increase our university ranking. I don't see whats wrong with that. It makes us more competitive globally.
@anastaciathiew I'm guessing you side with the PAP... Anyways, i just thought u might overlook the fact that most foreign workers in construction jobs, cleaning jobs and SAI KANG are not granted permanent resident status. The foreign workers that the video is addressing are the increasing number of elite foreigners who have the ability to compete with Singaporeans for high value added jobs. Give too much of them PR status, I dun think even u will have a job in future.

They left out the Malay community. Which also contribute most of the economies here is SG. Somehow we feel there is NO equality among the others. This is just my POV.
I totally agree bcos retails rental all up so called NTUC mall rental rises worst then outside! No election will never see their faces When in need for them they are extreme busy! They got the say, they got the power now is time for us!WE GOT THE RIGHTS N CHANCE!!!!!
We aren't point at ppl like construction jobs or low label (wp) we are point at "s"pass and EP ,those can take pink IC ,those who stay with us In HDB is overflood in sg ,I know alot of EP cannot speak english but why they holding EP pass to work at SG which pay more than $2.8k /mth (ep pass)

What about all the govt charges, taxes, duties imposed? You can cut GST, water consumption tax, petrol duty to lower business costs, universities and poly tuition fees, school fees. Not forgetting you are getting billions from casino, GST, Income tax, corporate tax, ERP, COE, ARF, PARF, road tax, HDB sales, land sales, investment returns from GICs, Temasek holdings, and most evil of all -OUR CPF.
MBT inflated HDB prices but refused to change. WKS fired his subordinates and not taking up the responsibility of great escape of Mas Selamat. KBW did mean testing to wipe out YOUR CPF! LHL and Co sidetracked by saying garment will create job, pay you dividend so that you could fight inflation! BULLSHIT!
Singaporeans, look around you. Look at what this govt has done. All foreigners around. Is this still Singapore??? Or province of China+India+Phillipines??
I'm just an ordinary S'porean expressing my view amidst all the angry voices. I've worked abroad, and honestly we often don't understand how gd a govt we have, until you live overseas. Our trains are overcrowded? Look at Japan or HK. Countries like US/ Malaysia / Thialand don't even have a gd public transport system. PAP has delivered a great public housing system where we can own our flats. My friends in HK and M'sia envy it.Don't throw this away to people who can only talk and can't deliver!!
@mixi9240 How much peoples from other places flux in HK even HK is a part of PRC?
HK never import over a time of workforce/residents jam-packed together with her locals.
Malaysia don't have good public transport but may be having NICE medical system so one of your new citizen suggested to old folks go there for retire. Too smart to manage of these new citizen.

@mixi9240 ok dude. I get what you are saying, but having other countries which are worse off than us doesn't make us better. I could easily quote a dozen countries which have less crowded trains, good transport system, good housing system and blah blah. I dont know about you, but i would want to push Singapore to become a place better than it already is. I dont want to just embrace and appreciate what I already have.
The PAP has stopped serving Singaporeans. They just serve themselves and their cronies. So much is already public about the blatant daylight robbery policies they've put in place to sustain their ludicrous salaries.
They depress Singaporean wages and give away Singaporean jobs.
I know of returning Singaporeans with multiple degrees from big name schools that can't even get jobs.
@momothebored Singaporeans aren't keeping PAP because we love them to bits. Every political party and government has its pros and cons. Tell me who in this world loves cons? We choose PAP bcoz we tolerate thm for their flaws and appreciate the goodness in them. Reason y d opposition hasnt won is bcoz the people dont see them as BETTER. People who base their arguments upon feelings, groundless facts and weakminded opinions r simply dumb. PAP OUT when OP can do better not because u like it or not
Who is "we"? You mean yourself? At what point did the idea of a utopian political party come across in my first post?
Perhaps you could READ papers and do a comparative analysis on immigration policy or job protectionism in comparison with virtually any other "developed nation". It's pretty common knowledge that the Singaporean government has been admitting foreign labor freely into Singapore and depressing wages to maintain competitive wage structures for years.
@momothebored Your whole stand is based on a Utopian ruling party for goodness sake. You speak only about flaws, which pretty much anyone, anything or any political party has in this world. So what if Singapore is doing that? Do you have a better solution? Does the opposition have one as well? Nope. They propose a serviced based industry in Singapore to provide more jobs to locals. When there is a recession, who suffers?
We? We refers to people who voted for PAP to stay five years ago.
1. "bcoz" is spelled "because", "r" is spelled "are", "y" is spelled "why", "d" is spelled "the".
2. Altering a few policies DOES'NT mean they won't bring in their own can of worms. Just a DIFFERENT can of worms that will impact a different segment of society. Voters just care that the can of worms doesn't affect THEIR lives. Common sense?
3. If their FLAWS outweigh the few "merits" they're paid millions to perform, would I focus on the 90% wrong or the 10% right?
@momothebored once again this reiterates my point. if u had any blinking IQ, you would know that i changed these words so that i can fully flame you under the word limit, and still have you understand what i'm saying. Apparently, your comment proved my point.
And once again you're too dumb to see my point on the pros and cons thing. Last question and the bottom line to logic. Who would you vote for? A better party or a lousier party? think about it. It's really simple.
@chuahyphenheng HAHHAHA I'm really not sure how I was "flamed".
1. You DID demonstrate your pathetic inability to read or make a single rational point.
2. Your Singlish is remarkable when combined with your drivel. Perhaps go to school?
Don't be embarassed, it's apparent for all to see that broken Engrish is native to you. Please don't put on any airs by spell-checking yourself now, your intellectual and cultural pedigree are naked as a baboon's red buttock for all to see.
@momothebored How is your criticism even valid when it is one sided? Not working dude, numbering out your points doesn't make them one. Isn't the video itself spouting cock? How does labelling the flaws in policies make them better? Who's the fool here? can see. You say its me. I just let the whole world see. Pretty much the same thing going on in the elections. OP saying why PAP is bad, PAP showing that it's still BETTER than the opposition by actively working out the problems.
@momothebored I do read the papers. I dont see your name doing a thing about all the problems you suggest. You're all talk buddy. My point? Grow up. Everyone thinks they see the bigger picture. People who don't speak up doesnt mean we don't see all this problems ur spouting. We're all waiting and thinking of something to help and to do. Not talk cock on youtube.
@momothebored You started out with an argument. Now you have switched your stand to school yard nonsense. Pathetic. It's nice to know the people voting against PAP aren't the intelligent ones. Can't even defend your stand. Alil bit of political brainwashing and you eat it all up. Every party will promise you something and tell you the flaws about its competition. It only depends on which has the track record, economic plans etc. Hope i schooled you today.
@momothebored Now it's just sad. You reread every comment again. You think you can invalidate my points by bring the debate somewhere else, in this case, your "bitching". Have you answered a single point i made against you? Nope. I don't mind continuing this. It's plain for all to see you're shirking the argument with lame excuses and picking on minor details which everyone can. In this video, everything is bitching. What has the OP proven? That Pap is unworthy? Or it is worthy? You're the same.
@momothebored its time for the PAP to go, they have lost the drive and the vision of the old guard and are making use of Singaporeans to define their game.
Does not feel great when you lose a job to a foreigner even though the foreigner is assessed to be more competent. When will the government do more for over 50s? What will be done to encourage employers/ HR community to accept that over 50s can still work as effectively?
In Democratic systems today, what's the main powers in rights to take the ruler(parliament) from citizens? Enough said.
Voters search for whom to create good years or good policies in sensible, NOT blind-votes to disasters makers. Peoples may be eyeless but not deaf, may be deaf but keeping in observation, they found kingship by spears in histroy, they running around spreading the news for founding a ideal government by votes. THEREFORE, STOP YOUR EMPTY PROMISES, RIGHT NOW!
NO MORE VOTE TO YOU SINCE YOU DON'T NEEDED LOCAL FOLKS ANYMORE.
YOU MAY BE HAVING NEW POWERS FROM NEW CITIZENS AND WE KNEW THAT MORE 1.5 MILLION NEW ALINES OF POWERS KEEPING READY FOR FLUX IN, GOOD LUCK TO YOU! undiscovered traitors, money's agency.
Their ACTIONS only for fixing oppositions? THE RIGHTS OF WAY in rulership there be fix problems for country such as terrorism or too low paid to their residents, NOT to fix any monkeys in their minded they thought disagreeable!
How about they using tax payers moneys fixing own peoples in time with election?
WHY have to using thin bananas to FIX peoples around? We are monkeys or we are bananas instead? What we wanted is NEEDED to united with our society whatever engaged with hard times!
11. What's the hard truth ? Do you feel screwed at all ? Or you like being screwed ? Or you want to be screwed for the next 4 years ? Or you like the ruling party to get screwed ?
9. Do you feel that PAP is the only viable option in your life ? Do you vote with your head or heart ? Do we need competition from foreigners to make us hungrier ?
10. Lastly, has PAP made your life better financially and mentally ? Is this a country you would like your kids to live in from the first time they draw their breath ? Compete for places in primary schools, work their ass off for supposedly affordable HDB public flats, compete for jobs with foreigners who do not need to serve NS?
6. Do you think we are safe under the leadership of WKS? Did he apologize for the escape of Mas Selamat? Our ministers are paid more than the political leads in US and yet, there's little accountability?
7. Yes, why do Singaporeans need to ballot ? Shouldn't we be given rights to entry to our educational institutions?
8. Why is it that old folk still lament that it's better to die than to be struck with long term illness in Singapore despite our first class affordable healthcare system?
@Angeline0205 We are indeed unhappy with foreigners. But you think the government hires all the PHDs and Degrees and Doctorates and what not here to build our roads and infrastructure? NO. They hire low skill and intelligence workers here to do the work. We can, we ARE already doing better than them. Yet, these people pose a threat to our community and social way of life. How would you like to live in a neighborhood where foreign workers live close by, defaecate in public and cause disturbances?
@Hojun666 So you want to Cage all the foreigners in one area? Infact I'm living in a neighborhood where foreign workers live close by, but there are quite alot of police patroling around during the night. But I don't think they are so bold to defaecate in the public?
@Angeline0205 You make me sound like a dictator. I did not specifically say nor imply that all foreigners should be caged in one area. I feel that the control over low level foreign workers are too lax, and they should be tightened. Also, whoopdedoo for you and more police patrols. Down in my place, the police don't patrol here. Cats bury theirs, Dog owners bag their dogs', and the foreign workers leave theirs on the pavement for everyone to step on.
@Hojun666 Or maybe implying that they urine in public? Disturbances is something not only cause by foreign worker. But some disturbance are not on purpose but it's how they were brought up. I do understand the disturbance that they are causing is really unpleasant, but you can tell so if you don't like it.
@Angeline0205 So you're implying that they are brought up to defaecate on roads and other public property? And how would you possibly tell them not to commit such acts, when you are even unclear on the numbers of foreign workers in the area? Put a memo? Tell them to spread through word of mouth? Come on, give me say 5 valid solutions.
Seriously this video make me damn piss off. Singaporean receive more benefit than others. Eg: Singaporean pay less for school fees, cheaper HDB, receive GST rebate, cheaper medicate treatment and some bursary are exclusive for Singaporean only. As for PRs they don't receive all these above. As foreign they pay even more. As for education is fair compare to other countries. As for the job is totally up to employer.Actually SOME Singaporeans are quite lazy compare to SOME foreigners.
@Angeline0205 Are you sure what you are saying is true? Why must we be happy that we receive rebates? We are just taking back what we give the govt through taxes. And how cheap are medical expenses? Why don't you try getting cancer, then some treatment? It will cost you your flat, your car and your savings. Use a little common sense. How many Singaporeans who get the bursaries ACTUALLY need it? Why shouldn't foreigners pay more? We are sacrificing our resources and space for these people.
@Hojun666 I'm just starting the facts that we all can see. For tax rebates, do you think other countries have it? i doubt so. Medical Expenses is definitely more expensive as cancer would required way more medical attention and equipments to support the patient to overcome the illness. Prevention is better than cure, as not everyone is lucky to have discover the illness before hand. If still fearful go check-up then. Bursaries, have criteria for applicants like household income.
@Angeline0205 Tax rebates. Sure, other countries don't have it. You know what some countries have? Social Welfare. I do know the consequences of it, but still. Their government takes care of their own? For us? We bear the short end of the stick so that foreigners come here at a lower price, or free.
Do you know how the Medisave actually works? Your Medisave only pays a few hundred dollars when your total bill runs up to more than 10k. I know because I actually listen to the plight of the poor.
@Angeline0205 So please don't come and say that Medical treatment is cheap here. Old folks rather die than get stuck with serious ailments. And we're talking about the government here, so don't say something about prevention as it falls under everyone's personal responsibility. We are going for the "It's happened, what do we do now" basis. Bursaries seem to be a valid point, so it shall not be discussed. But I still stand my ground. Whatever money the govt gives, where do you think it came from?
@Angeline0205 For jobs, if they govt actually made any effort to control the influx of the damn aliens into our country, or completely blocked out the foreigners, do you think the employers HAVE a choice? There will be no foreigners and locals will be hired, whether they like it or not. The matter is not whether us Sinkies are lazy or not. The problem is why SHOULD we be alienated in our own country, while others use our resources and country as a stepping stone to better futures? TELL ME. WHY.
@Hojun666 No more question for us while we nearly to be minority on our own small island, damn situation

@Hojun666 Jobs, do you really think Singaporeans would go and work as a Construction Worker/Gabage Man/Toilet Cleaner & etc *Dirty Jobs*. If no one is going to build houses, where would we live? Employers where got cheap labour?

To Singaporean:
HOW TO VOTE FOR A good GOVERNMENT explained.
singaporeanspeaks 10 months ago
1] A good government is one that is truthful enough to let the citizens know:
1] The status quo of the financial reserve so that the citizens will know whether the ruling government is doing a good job or not! For if the citizens are ignorant of the status quo of the reserve, then Singapore is at risk of facing collapse anytime as the ruling government is running Singapore like a World Business Corporation. For when its business[WBC] fails, Singapore will be financially bankrupt!
singaporeanspeaks 10 months ago 7

Please show me some news evidence
sylbestian 10 months ago
@sylbestian I had spent 8 years serving the RC during the 1980s. I have priviledges such as free parking around the whole GRC and priorty registration for my children entering primary schools. I already owned a HDB flat at the time, but I know I do get priority in application for HDB. That is the RC. I never joined the PAP. I left the RC because I was pissed off when the PAP asked me to distribute their leaflets during election time. RC is not PAP and should not be used by the PAP.
sttc55 10 months ago
@sylbestian
Heard of registering the children in school in the same category with school volunteers. But have never heard of getting a HDB flat through RC. E.g. how does the HDB balloting system recognise a RC member? When applying flat, how to indicate you're a RC member? I don't think it's possible to get priority for flat by joining RC.
welovewelaughweshare 10 months ago
@welovewelaughweshare I served the RC from 1984 to 1992, starting from being a member and promoted to Secretary of the RC. At the time, it is strictly volumteer work, no pay, no allowances. I believe this has changed, there could be some allowances given to the RC volunteers, I am not sure about this. Back then, HDB buyers are on a Queue System, there is a special queue for volunteers of RC, CC, CCMC, etc. Now, I do not know if the HDB queue system still exists.
sttc55 10 months ago
@welovewelaughweshare ... continue ....There may be units reserved for volunteers. Volunteering for RC is a good thing. I enjoyed helping old folks who could not read their letters or serving them tea and mooncakes during festivals. When the proposal to give allowances to volunteers came up for debate, I was against it. The true spirit of giving and serving is marginalized. I left.
sttc55 10 months ago
A system where it allows full control in the hands of a few is dangerous. The old guards have passion to make this small island work. The new generation leaders are not the same. Every department is run like a profit centre. Money becomes the only motivation.

bjayar01 10 months ago
@bjayar01 lazy bums? alcoholics? people who expect things on a silver plate? from the moment you were born you were NEVER on the same playing field with everyone else and you are too naive to not see that. does the children of the PM have the same opportunities as the children of a hawker centre stall owner? is tuition free? meritocracy is bullshit.
the reason why you know of exceptional cases where the lower-income families manage to attain high-income jobs is because they're the EXCEPTIONS
ohttthrill 10 months ago
@bjayar01 you must be a young, relatively well paid wage earner, who will not take risks, just follow the procedures, work till 65 and retire. Keep your fingers crossed that no major problems occur in your work day, day after day. If anything not sure, check the procedures. If all the procedures checks out, OK. If not, reject. Do what the boss says, nothing will go wrong. You are probably working for the civil service or a GLC. You live a pathetic life.

PAP has many faults/flaws but for every flaw or mistake they have, there is a million other things that they did right. One should ASK: Generally, is PAP a good government? Not has the government made some mistakes - DEFINITELY IT HAS My choice is for the best government, not a perfect government.

Your point?
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored Your whole stand is based on a Utopian ruling party for goodness sake. You speak only about flaws, which pretty much anyone, anything or any political party has in this world. So what if Singapore is doing that? Do you have a better solution? Does the opposition have one as well? Nope. They propose a serviced based industry in Singapore to provide more jobs to locals. When there is a recession, who suffers?
We? We refers to people who voted for PAP to stay five years ago.

2. Altering a few policies DOES'NT mean they won't bring in their own can of worms. Just a DIFFERENT can of worms that will impact a different segment of society. Voters just care that the can of worms doesn't affect THEIR lives. Common sense?
3. If their FLAWS outweigh the few "merits" they're paid millions to perform, would I focus on the 90% wrong or the 10% right?
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored once again this reiterates my point. if u had any blinking IQ, you would know that i changed these words so that i can fully flame you under the word limit, and still have you understand what i'm saying. Apparently, your comment proved my point.
And once again you're too dumb to see my point on the pros and cons thing. Last question and the bottom line to logic. Who would you vote for? A better party or a lousier party? think about it. It's really simple.
chuahyphenheng 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng HAHHAHA I'm really not sure how I was "flamed".
1. You DID demonstrate your pathetic inability to read or make a single rational point.
2. Your Singlish is remarkable when combined with your drivel. Perhaps go to school?
Don't be embarassed, it's apparent for all to see that broken Engrish is native to you. Please don't put on any airs by spell-checking yourself now, your intellectual and cultural pedigree are naked as a baboon's red buttock for all to see.
hahahaha :D
momothebored 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng
1. You stupidly misunderstood valid criticism of a political party as an expectation of a utopian one
2. You accused me of "spouting cock" when you disagreed
3. You started crying when i answered your questions, which are below for all to see.
4. You react like a child because I pointed out your broken spelling
TOOO BAAAAAAAD, I'm sorry I made such a fool of you in public.
What's your point? Mine has been clearly made. The only thing you've made is a fool of yourself. :)
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored How is your criticism even valid when it is one sided? Not working dude, numbering out your points doesn't make them one. Isn't the video itself spouting cock? How does labelling the flaws in policies make them better? Who's the fool here? can see. You say its me. I just let the whole world see. Pretty much the same thing going on in the elections. OP saying why PAP is bad, PAP showing that it's still BETTER than the opposition by actively working out the problems.
Childish.
chuahyphenheng 10 months ago
@momothebored I do read the papers. I dont see your name doing a thing about all the problems you suggest. You're all talk buddy. My point? Grow up. Everyone thinks they see the bigger picture. People who don't speak up doesnt mean we don't see all this problems ur spouting. We're all waiting and thinking of something to help and to do. Not talk cock on youtube.
chuahyphenheng 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng It's called free speech, I GET TO SAY whatever "cock" I want to, so TOO BAD.
Typical sheltered hdb-chinkish fear of freedom of speech. SUE ME "LAH".
Why would you have heard of me? I sure as hell haven't heard of you.
Glad you're content to "wait and think" and "solve" problems from wherever you're squatting.
So effective until the PAP is shitting its pants.
Why are you here spouting your cock?
Shouldn't you be "waiting and thinking" in a dustbin somewhere?
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored You started out with an argument. Now you have switched your stand to school yard nonsense. Pathetic. It's nice to know the people voting against PAP aren't the intelligent ones. Can't even defend your stand. Alil bit of political brainwashing and you eat it all up. Every party will promise you something and tell you the flaws about its competition. It only depends on which has the track record, economic plans etc. Hope i schooled you today.
chuahyphenheng 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng
Lose graciously Chua. It's becoming.
I answered you squarely. Perhaps broken engrish goes hand-in-hand with cognitive inability.
Instead, you asked me why I was "spouting cock" on the internet when you realized you didn't have a single coherent thing to say.
Please learn to hide with some dignity. "Shushing" someone doesn't work, especially your betters.
If you can't win, don't bitch.
Good night. :)
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored Now it's just sad. You reread every comment again. You think you can invalidate my points by bring the debate somewhere else, in this case, your "bitching". Have you answered a single point i made against you? Nope. I don't mind continuing this. It's plain for all to see you're shirking the argument with lame excuses and picking on minor details which everyone can. In this video, everything is bitching. What has the OP proven? That Pap is unworthy? Or it is worthy? You're the same.
chuahyphenheng 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng
Chua, here's a simple thought, one even you might get: :)
If you READ, instead of whining like dog that's been kicked, you'll see my responses to your innane questions below.
I'm SORRY i hurt your feelings by making you look like a fool. :)
It was all too easy.
And regarding your English:
"What has the OP proven? That Pap is unworthy? Or it is worthy? You're the same."
errrr... what "proof" are you expecting on a youtube page? And what "proof" of anything have you given?
momothebored 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng
I number points because you can't seem to keep up :) Let me help you again:
1. Why should my criticism be 2-sided? Have non-PAP parties made any stupid mistakes in governance yet? Are you drunk?
2. What does the video have to do with my criticism? Are you mentally here? :)
3. You STILL don't get it. I don't care if the opposition is better, I care that they're better in the areas I'm concerned about.
TOO BAD, i guess i just made you look like the FOOL you are again :)
momothebored 10 months ago
@chuahyphenheng
Serious question, do you have any idea how stupid you are? :)
You're asking for a "balanced" critique:
PAP: Proven, realized, quantifiable mistakes the PM apologized for
Others: Unproven, current commitment to addressing these mistakes
Exactly WHAT "2-sided" critiques are you asking about?
You DO realize that they haven't even BEEN in power to affect legislature, right?
I hope you liked how PM Lee apologized today. It was like a SLAP in your face. :)
momothebored 10 months ago
@momothebored its time for the PAP to go, they have lost the drive and the vision of the old guard and are making use of Singaporeans to define their game.
rexregum 10 months ago
@momothebored When the PAP first started out, did they have a track record? Were they in power to affect legislature?

Does not feel great when you lose a job to a foreigner even though the foreigner is assessed to be more competent. When will the government do more for over 50s? What will be done to encourage employers/ HR community to accept that over 50s can still work as effectively?
Ochaar 10 months ago
In Democratic systems today, what's the main powers in rights to take the ruler(parliament) from citizens? Enough said.
Voters search for whom to create good years or good policies in sensible, NOT blind-votes to disasters makers. Peoples may be eyeless but not deaf, may be deaf but keeping in observation, they found kingship by spears in histroy, they running around spreading the news for founding a ideal government by votes. THEREFORE, STOP YOUR EMPTY PROMISES, RIGHT NOW!
dos4648 10 months ago
NO MORE VOTE TO YOU SINCE YOU DON'T NEEDED LOCAL FOLKS ANYMORE.
YOU MAY BE HAVING NEW POWERS FROM NEW CITIZENS AND WE KNEW THAT MORE 1.5 MILLION NEW ALINES OF POWERS KEEPING READY FOR FLUX IN, GOOD LUCK TO YOU! undiscovered traitors, money's agency.
dos4648 10 months ago
Their ACTIONS only for fixing oppositions? THE RIGHTS OF WAY in rulership there be fix problems for country such as terrorism or too low paid to their residents, NOT to fix any monkeys in their minded they thought disagreeable!
How about they using tax payers moneys fixing own peoples in time with election?
WHY have to using thin bananas to FIX peoples around? We are monkeys or we are bananas instead? What we wanted is NEEDED to united with our society whatever engaged with hard times!
dos4648 10 months ago
11. What's the hard truth ? Do you feel screwed at all ? Or you like being screwed ? Or you want to be screwed for the next 4 years ? Or you like the ruling party to get screwed ?
charmainelooi 10 months ago
Compete for places in primary schools, work their ass off for supposedly affordable HDB public flats, compete for jobs with foreigners who do not need to serve NS?
charmainelooi 10 months ago
8. Why is it that old folk still lament that it's better to die than to be struck with long term illness in Singapore despite our first class affordable healthcare system?
charmainelooi 10 months ago
Although Singapore is a FINE country but as the same time is fair. If any Singaporean is unhappy with foreigners THEN prove it by doing better.
Angeline0205 10 months ago 2
@Angeline0205 We are indeed unhappy with foreigners. But you think the government hires all the PHDs and Degrees and Doctorates and what not here to build our roads and infrastructure? NO. They hire low skill and intelligence workers here to do the work. We can, we ARE already doing better than them. Yet, these people pose a threat to our community and social way of life. How would you like to live in a neighborhood where foreign workers live close by, defaecate in public and cause disturbances?
Hojun666 10 months ago
@Hojun666 So you want to Cage all the foreigners in one area? Infact I'm living in a neighborhood where foreign workers live close by, but there are quite alot of police patroling around during the night. But I don't think they are so bold to defaecate in the public?
Angeline0205 10 months ago

Angeline0205 10 months ago
@Angeline0205 So you're implying that they are brought up to defaecate on roads and other public property? And how would you possibly tell them not to commit such acts, when you are even unclear on the numbers of foreign workers in the area? Put a memo? Tell them to spread through word of mouth? Come on, give me say 5 valid solutions.
Hojun666 10 months ago
Seriously this video make me damn piss off. Singaporean receive more benefit than others. Eg: Singaporean pay less for school fees, cheaper HDB, receive GST rebate, cheaper medicate treatment and some bursary are exclusive for Singaporean only. As for PRs they don't receive all these above. As foreign they pay even more. As for education is fair compare to other countries. As for the job is totally up to employer.Actually SOME Singaporeans are quite lazy compare to SOME foreigners.
Angeline0205 10 months ago
@Angeline0205 Are you sure what you are saying is true? Why must we be happy that we receive rebates? We are just taking back what we give the govt through taxes. And how cheap are medical expenses? Why don't you try getting cancer, then some treatment? It will cost you your flat, your car and your savings. Use a little common sense. How many Singaporeans who get the bursaries ACTUALLY need it? Why shouldn't foreigners pay more? We are sacrificing our resources and space for these people.
Hojun666 10 months ago
@Hojun666 I'm just starting the facts that we all can see. For tax rebates, do you think other countries have it? i doubt so. Medical Expenses is definitely more expensive as cancer would required way more medical attention and equipments to support the patient to overcome the illness. Prevention is better than cure, as not everyone is lucky to have discover the illness before hand. If still fearful go check-up then. Bursaries, have criteria for applicants like household income.
Angeline0205 10 months ago
@Angeline0205 Tax rebates. Sure, other countries don't have it. You know what some countries have? Social Welfare. I do know the consequences of it, but still. Their government takes care of their own? For us? We bear the short end of the stick so that foreigners come here at a lower price, or free.
Do you know how the Medisave actually works? Your Medisave only pays a few hundred dollars when your total bill runs up to more than 10k. I know because I actually listen to the plight of the poor.
Hojun666 10 months ago
@Angeline0205 So please don't come and say that Medical treatment is cheap here. Old folks rather die than get stuck with serious ailments. And we're talking about the government here, so don't say something about prevention as it falls under everyone's personal responsibility. We are going for the "It's happened, what do we do now" basis. Bursaries seem to be a valid point, so it shall not be discussed. But I still stand my ground. Whatever money the govt gives, where do you think it came from?
Hojun666 10 months ago 8
@Hojun666 then vote for change bah. hopefully everything change.
Angeline0205 10 months ago 2
@Hojun666 I do agree on the last part, but they are paying for Imports not Singapore's resource.
Angeline0205 10 months ago
@Angeline0205 For jobs, if they govt actually made any effort to control the influx of the damn aliens into our country, or completely blocked out the foreigners, do you think the employers HAVE a choice? There will be no foreigners and locals will be hired, whether they like it or not. The matter is not whether us Sinkies are lazy or not. The problem is why SHOULD we be alienated in our own country, while others use our resources and country as a stepping stone to better futures? TELL ME. WHY.
Hojun666 10 months ago
@Hojun666 No more question for us while we nearly to be minority on our own small island, damn situation
force us fall in these damn Democratic's national battle in duty to vote, you can search many of WHY in passed five or twenty years inside your heart may already collapsed.
dos4648 10 months ago
@Hojun666 Jobs, do you really think Singaporeans would go and work as a Construction Worker/Gabage Man/Toilet Cleaner & etc *Dirty Jobs*. If no one is going to build houses, where would we live? Employers where got cheap labour?
