  • This guy is a beast

  • i was at NCAAs and i honestly thought that was his girl friend lol

  • Wiggle your toes Rules. They helped robles get a prostetic (robot) leg

  • To everyone talking about how he has an advantage... most people can't muster the drive to go on fighting with only one leg. That is the reason he's earned the right to wrestle. His heart is bigger than my whole body. Just something to think about.

  • @jakawaka1212 he was born with one leg. its not like he tragically lost it going into college or something, its his normal way of living. no more impressive than you having two legs

  • 2 utah valley fans

  • this guy is amazing, fuck all you haters!!!

  • this guy is awesome, those two people are probably the wrestlers he beat or hardcore UA fans

  • It's funny to read all these hateful comments. Do you guys really think Robles gives a shit what a bunch of immature douche bags think? Fuckin dipshits. He has one leg yet he has accomplished more than most people, disabled or not. I say more power to him

  • well thats good to know congrats ur the one with the disability haha ashamed of urself u should be now im done arguing with u this is seriously stupid i dont care what u think tryin to be raisist haha u wannabe kkk member !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • fuck that niqqa

  • @cooltoon666 there has to be something seriously wrong with you mentally to be jealous enough to say something like that, get out of here you loser, no better yet, stay, keep leaving comments like that, see what you'll accomplish

  • One less leg = less weight = more upper body strength to work with.

  • He is at the same weight no disadvantage the dude has 1 leg stfu hes a national champ. How many of you can say that?

  • Stop hating on the guy he busts his ass off as much as everyone, so what if having one leg is an advantage theres nothing he could do about that he was born like that and he busted his ass to win a National Championship!!!Give him his props

  • this guys is speaking to us in my strength training theory and application class in a few minutes at byu idaho, im excited to meet him. what a beast.

  • I´m sorry, but this is just a fucking freakshow.

    And probably cheating too.

  • @TimdeJong are you fucking kidding me!?!?....he has fucking talent he aint no freak show...i bet he would fuck you up in a match

  • @kreatorthrash666 He has talent in one legged wrestling, this shouldn´t be allowed.

  • why is it that after i watch this it shows rebecca black?

  • @scooternation123

    cuz "its friday,friday!".lmao.....sorry,couldnt resist

  • his upper body strength is sickening.

  • This is more than freakin awesome

  • Amazing story but I can see pros and cons...

advantages= there is less for the opponent to grab and he has a physically much stronger upperbody, that of a 170-180 lb man.

disadvantages= potential mobility, stability and overall strength and power coming from his base..

  • who disliked this video? McDonough, is that you?

  • @marcetclaude Mcdounough has reason to dislike this.....

  • @marcetclaude 1. the most obvious reason, it puts him in the lowest weight class. standing next to bubba jenkins, he is taller and wider. i would like to have seen how he would do against reader with two legs....

  • @marcetclaude 2. his entire life, he wrestled people with two legs. he knows how to do that, he does it everyday. yet, no one at the NCAA's has had a chance to wrestle a one legged wrestler. they had no idea what his weaknesses are. between him having a completely foreign style of wrestling, a body that you cant shoot on, and most of your offense on top is gone with, and the fact he can bench over 300 pounds, which would probably be impossible to every 25 pounder in the world.

  • @marcetclaude 3. no referee will call anything against him if it will make him lose. ben kerr had a great match against him. robles stalled his ass off, and if he was a normal person, regardless of advantages, the takedown at the end may have been called or stalling easily would have been called but it wasnt because no ref wants to be the guy who made a call against someone with a "disadvantage".

  • As a Jr, HS wrester, Anthony Robles has become an inspiration as a 2 legged wrestler that if he can do it with 1 I can definitly do it with 2. God Bless You, Mr.Robles

  • it wouldn't matter how much there is to grab

it would be the weight one of his legs way 50

pounds probably and he doesn't have one of

those legs so all that weight is in upper body

muscle so he has a 50 pound upper body muscle

advantage but still the technique with one leg

would be so hard to stay properly balanced this guy is

    incredible

  • What a great man and such respect for the sport.

  • Agree with osbornehunter and vincent0176. It is an advantage, but only because he's worked so hard for it to become one. He worked hard so that he's used to what his body is capable of and knows how to use it right, but his opponent won't be. As the announcers were saying in his national finals match, most wrestler's muscle memories search for the two legs to take down their opponent. So it's difficult when what you've trained over and over again to do is suddenly out the window. Incredible.

  • BADASS.

  • @SyssAbyss Exactly!!

  • perhaps it is somewhat of an advantage for him with one leg, but thats not a fair statement because he dint jus lose a leg and wrestle the next week, i can only imagine the grueling day to day grind of recovery/rehab and then the grind of adapting and training on the mat and competing at that level successfully, whatever he went through to get to where he is at is more than a wrestler with the use of alll his limbs,so f its an advantage now so be it.

  • He came to my high school spoke. He was such an inspiration. God bless him

    #CHAMP!

  • მხეცი!!!!

  • This guy deserves all the credit in the world. He is an amazing athlete and to even compete with one leg in any sport is a feat in itself let along be the NCAA champion. Most people with one leg would be happy to even walk across a room or get up off the couch by themselves to go to the bathroom.

  • um, his mom is fukn hot!

  • amazing

  • I wish only wrestlers can comment on this page...there is three things in wrestling. Strength, Technique, and Balance. Robles has no balance w one leg and had to adapt a new style of wrestling because of his HANDICAP...why are people saying it is now handicap for other because he is stronger...BS. How about you lose a leg and learn to wrestle w one leg...

  • this is crazy

  • he has the advantage in this sport with one leg. It makes it much more difficult for his opponents, they must form a strategy to pin a one legged opponent.

  • @SouthSideCrusade If that's the case, then how come the sport isn't dominated by one legged athletes? He's the first one-legged national champion I've ever heard of. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • @jyl500 i don't know about you, but i don't run into one legged people often. There are not many.

  • if only robles faced kjar in the finals, that would be an inspiring match. Also Kjar seemed to be the toughest competitor to robles in the championships.

  • Anthony: I am inspired by your wrestling, regardless of your physical limitations. You have great mobility and the essential quickness in the execution of your maneuvers, that anyone who has wrestled has to admire.

Like all top tier athletes, you are always polishing your technique. You motivate me to keep trying, even harder. in my favorite sports.

  • Anthony Robles and Casey Heynes should be TIME person of the year!

  • i think a bigger advantage for him than having 1 less leg to grab for the opponent is the huge amount of weight he drops bc of 1 less leg...hes so much bigger than his opponents bc technically he should be wrestling in a much bigger weight class in which he obviously wouldnt be as successful...that missing leg allows him to wrestle opponents much smaller than him which i dont think is really fair

  • @Waheezy420 THEY HAVE TWO LEGS! See what you just wrote, not fair? lmao PS: two legs...

  • Blah Blah Blah. He has one leg so it gives him the advantage..

SHUT UP already, give the kid the RESPECT he deserves.

Sick of all these 'Backhanded" compliments, DUDE HAS ONE LEG and IS THE CHAMP, acknowledge his hard work

  • ESPN appears to have cut out how Robles stalled like a son of a bitch for 4 minutes and they refs were scared to call stalling against the disabled kid. A win is a win, but he didn't leave the mat looking like a champion.

  • Great job - what an amazing achievement!

  • I wanna go out with his mom!

  • The weight class drop because of the missing leg is an advantage (Bigger upper body)

& I'm guessing he has spent a lot of time moving around on all 3 .I love that he has the drive to take a supposed disadvantage & work it to a national title. Great story !!! Inspirational. So meny others would make excuses in instead.

  • i hate him

  • he can run faster than me using crutches no kidding

  • what a badass. obviously he has a huge upper body compared to everyone else in his weight class-- since he doesn't have a leg. very inspirational!!!!

  • The biggest advantage is getting to be in a lower weight class (125 lb). The obvious disadvantage is missing a leg, which is kind of a big deal in wrestling. Can he even Sit Out from a Turtle position? The part I love the most is his spirit.

  • More than VERY cool!

  • WOW!!! Thats a movie right there! Future star.

  • Inspirational ...

  • It will be truly legendary if he qualifies for the Olympics; he'd probably the first, or one of the very few, paraplegic to do so. It's already legendary enough that he doesn't need to default to the paralympics.

  • Honestly id think hed have an advatage by not having the leg. Look at his arms they are is big as the other guys legs. One leg is about 35% of your body wieght so if he had it he would probably be in the 155-160 wieght range. That said he still won the NCAA Championship which is extremley impressive

  • A Legend. :)

  • I have the same shoes Anthony does,

and I broke my ankle a couple of months ago and lost one them.

    hmmm.....

  • Looks like this time the one legged man won the ass kicking contest.

  • I wrestled this guy once with no legs, he was built like a tank at low weight classes, it was super advantageous for him he had an extra liek 60pds of muscle, and was extremely hard to beat, most times when he lost he lost by a few points usually because someone out of of his holds.

  • i am sorry but you will never convince me that he is better because of one leg. maybe there's a slight advantage, but i'm sure the guy would rather have a leg. he's my hero.

  • Thats awesome that he belives in GOD and knows he's nothing with out him

  • Awesome!

  • if he won with one leg i can just imagine what he would do with two legs win an olympic gold medal

  • INSPIRATIONAL

  • wow this guy is amazing im a high school wrestler on varsity wrestling team and ive never seen someone with one leg or any disabilities do reall good like good like this guy. I hope i could get as good as him one day..

  • Wow. :)

  • Like a one-legged man in an ass kickin' contest!

  • YAY :,) tears of joy

  • I went to High School (Mesa High) with this guy, great person I am very happy for him hope more big things happen for him.

  • What an amazing story.

  • well... technically, he has two legs... ^ ^

  • I can tell this'll be a unpopular opinion but one leg could also be more of an advantage for him because there is less of him for the other wrestler to grab, he doesn't have two legs to worry about, just one. It's still incredible what he's achieved though.

  • @vincent0176 yeah but with only one leg it is much harder to achieve leverage as opposed to two legs, and in wrestling leverage is key

  • @vincent0176 um wellllllllllllllll that's a small advantage for a huge disadvantage

  • @vincent0176 not to mention that he is also in a lower weight class because he doesn't have the weight of that other limb. That mission leg would prolly weigh about 30-45lbs

  • @vincent0176 also...the leg takes off about 30-40 lbs

  • @endlesstutorials yeh but I think the fact THAT HE ONLY HAS ONE FREEKING LEG makes that even again djeez, u even know how inportant ur legs are

  • @endlesstutorials he's only 125lbs so it's more like 20.. and he also looses all the strengh and leverage he'd have with 2 legs. It's amazing what he can do. In my opinion it's more of a disadvantage but he's worked so hard that he's so great

  • @RDMA916 He's got the upper body of someone around 170 or 180, and the absent leg brings him down to maybe 135, and he loses fat and water weight to get to 125.

  • @vincent0176 thats what i was going to say, you cant double leg someone with only one leg, and it allows him to be weigh more in his upper body to be stronger due to not having the extra weight.

  • @vincent0176 Interesting idea but I don't think so because the advantage of the legs as levers and the ability of a more balanced body to use leverage (for example when trying to hold your weight on a downed opponent in a near-pin situation or in grappling for a take down) is huge. I think this guy is just that rare splendid athlete who has compensated well, speed, balance and upper body strength..... He should be given all the credit.

  • @vincent0176 Yeah, but he has one leg.

  • @vincent0176 actually, you're correct. The announcers even mentioned that during the match. When you go to do a move, from years of wrestling you expect there to be a "hold", or something to grab and leverage against. When wrestling Robles, you do the same move, and nothing is there. And that's just something that opponents have to overcome.

  • @vincent0176 Are you retarded, it's not an advantage. Do you know how hard it would be to conduct a takedown or defend against a takedown without two points of support?

  • @vincent0176

while i totally agree this is an awe inspiring and inspirational young man, it also adds an advantage because he can have a much bigger upper body than others in his weight class because of how much a leg weighs. once again a great story though

  • @vincent0176 This is the dumbest comment in the history of you tube and so are those thumbs up. having one leg is never a advantage. stand on one leg for like 5 mins and see how that works out for you.

  • @mrwhatever213 Don't get emotional about it and properly have a think about it. Yeah it would be hard for you to stand on one leg if you hadn't done it before but if you did it constantly eventualy it would be no problem at all. Also missing a leg means he can add much more muscle to his upper body and still be under 125 lbs. There is definite advantage. Good on him for finding a sport he can excel in and making the most of what he has.

  • @zimpy27 you are fucking stupid. Explain how Jean Jacques Machado won every national championship in brazil with a missing hand. And what about Du Toit who qualified for the Olympic 10 km swim with one leg? And what about Jim Abbott who played in the MLB with ONE ARM. Was that an advantage too? No, these guys have something you will never have. Heart. All you have is excuses and that makes you look like a bitch.

  • @BootyBot Don't know about all those examples you gave. But in this case it is an advantage. I'm not saying it's not amazing story, I'm not saying he doesn't have heart, all I'm saying is that having all that extra upper body strength in wrestling is an advantage. Sorry you can't understand that without bleeding from your vagina. Lol, and what would I need to make excuses for? it's not like I lost to him.. This guy!!

  • @zimpy27 well look em up. ya he might be a little stronger but that's all trumped by the fact that he has one leg. If you've done any wrestling at all you'll know how difficult it is to keep a stable base and with one leg, all the upper body strength in the world is not gonna solve that problem.

great, he's a little stronger than everyone else. If it made that much of a difference, there would be a hell of a lot more one legged NCAA champs than just one.

  • @mrwhatever213 Read the rest of the replies to my comment, several advantages have been pointed out about how it could be an advantage, all of which are completely legitimate, and I also said that it was still amazing what he's achieved, because it is, but don't assume that he's worse off just because common sense makes you think that he should be because he doesn't fit the accepted idea of the ideal body

  • @vincent0176 So your telling anyone that wants to be the best wrestler in the world to cut off one of their legs? Come on man, are you serious? Forget the fact that he's unable to sprawl with one leg or that two legs will always be stronger then two, but given life in general, the difficulties getting to and from practice, walking up and down stairs, driving all these other things you can't say in any way that it is some type of "advantage" to have one leg. It takes away from what he's done.

  • @vincent0176 he also would be a heigher weight class

  • @vincent0176 Thats a completely legit opinion. Not to mention how strong his upper body is because of the weight he doesn't have from the leg.

  • HES THE BEST AROUND!!!!!!!!

  • This is amazing

  • anyone who dislikes this video will be going to hell

  • I guess you can only do a single leg take-down on him...

  • inspriring!
