Kelly Keagy talked about the lyric in interviews, it's "motoring" (or more accurately "motorin' ") a term synonymous with "cruising". The song was about his little sister who was 16 when he wrote it and it was supposed to be about her slowing down and not growing up so fast. It was originally titled Sister Christy (his sister's name), and the words were misunderstood by fellow band members who thought he was singing Christian and it stuck.
