This is wonderful! Thank you! I love her mature and adult voice (little bit like Finnish 89 version which is one of my personal favourites). Japanese is also very beautiful language and the lyrics are great!
when i watched this and i was reading lyrics, my head kept singing the english version >.> when i was actually trying to focus on reading the subtitles xD
Disney, why do you always have to make double versions of Arielle? Everyone was happy with the 89 Version of the dub, but NO, Disney came to Germany and Japan and who knows where else and made in 98 another dub which almost everyone who knows the original from 89 hates x_X
@anima07swe well, it's basically used by children, so it could be something like a habit from childhood, especially since ariel isn't really mature...
Though Japanese is a beautiful language and I really think the song is pretty good in japanese but japanese singers just don't got this strong sound in their voice like americans or germans. The song is good but if she would sing some parts more strong it would sound way better
the japanese words are synced up so nicely with her mouth movements. i love it so much... if the japanese can dub so well for english language movies why can't english dubbers (is that even a word) dub japanese movies well. there are so many japanese shows and movies that have been dubbed but they look so forced.
I am just wondering about the lyrics - when she ask what fire is, and then she ask if she would burn, because she loves humans. All I can think is "How does she know?!" and "wow, religious much.."
There is something interestingly odd about these lyrics. 誰かを / 好きだと / 燃えるって ("When I love someone, will it burn?") Seems random, right? "What's a fire and why does it - what's the word? / Burn? / When's it my turn? Wouldn't I love, love to / explore that world up above?"
If "wouldn't I love, love" was misheard as "When I love, love" and "When's it my turn?" misconstrued as "When it's my turn?", then wouldn't the Japanese lyrics make more sense?
i was confused about that part too so i watched it again and it's actually saying "what does it mean when fire's burning? It's funny that on land people 'burn' when they fall in love with someone"...
@mayum345 There are actually two different dubbed versions of The Little Mermaid. One from 1989 (which is this one) and one from 1999. I bet the movie you have is from 1999. :)
私も旧ver.の方がしっくり来ます!大好きなプリンセスシリーズの中でも一番好きなアリエルのこの歌の部分が、歌詞が変わったとは知らずに新ver.見た時はびっくりしました(-。-;
