  • 私も旧ver.の方がしっくり来ます!大好きなプリンセスシリーズの中でも一番好きなアリエルのこの歌の部分が、歌詞が変わったとは知らずに新ver.見た時はびっくりしました(-。-;

  • So, uh, what's the name of this song in Japanese (and what does that translate into English)?

  • I think these are the best lyrics to this song I've heard..

  • I think this one is so much more prettier than the english one, both voice wise and lyric wise.

  • the english lyrics have a deeper meaning then the japanese...still it is nice..:)

  • I love her voice from 1:18-1:28 <3

    Japanese is a great language.

  • this is so much prettier than the American version :)

  • @hajar9911 I beg to differ. But your opinion, whatever.

  • Seen this movie so amany times i know the english lyrics by heart now ima memorize it like this

  • I prefer this version, the new one isn't as good as this .

  • Gorgeous language <3 Somehow it sounds good dubbed on any animation.

  • I can't wait to go to Japan. The language is just awesome :33

  • This makes me so glad that I have the the album from the -89 version.

Sure, the 99- dub is good too, but I prefer this one.

  • This is wonderful! Thank you! I love her mature and adult voice (little bit like Finnish 89 version which is one of my personal favourites). Japanese is also very beautiful language and the lyrics are great!

  • in jappanese is everything realy that differently said?/?

  • when i watched this and i was reading lyrics, my head kept singing the english version >.> when i was actually trying to focus on reading the subtitles xD

  • Disney, why do you always have to make double versions of Arielle? Everyone was happy with the 89 Version of the dub, but NO, Disney came to Germany and Japan and who knows where else and made in 98 another dub which almost everyone who knows the original from 89 hates x_X

  • @MissSuru The Swedish dub of this song is one of few that wasn't redubbed for the -98 edition.

  • As much as I love the voice of the English Ariel, I think I like this lady even more. There's some lilt about her voice that's absolutely beautiful.

  • Funny to hear them squish in all those syllables.

  • the whole O Hi-sama Kira Kira is why I ADORE this version best. There was something so gorgeous about the first time I heard that part <3 1:13

  • Why 'boku' though?

  • @Neonazu Beats me, since "boku" is used by males and not females. 8O

  • @anima07swe "boku" can be used by very young girls

  • @naraku13no13hana That I did know, however, women doesn't use that, right?

And, I don't think that a 16 year old can be called a "very young girl". :)

  • @anima07swe well, it's basically used by children, so it could be something like a habit from childhood, especially since ariel isn't really mature...

  • @naraku13no13hana Oh, ok. Didn't considered that.

    小学生のとき毎日のように観てました☆

    懐かしくて。。。感動しました!!

    アップありがとうございます♪;3;

  • how could be out in 1989 -. -

  • Though Japanese is a beautiful language and I really think the song is pretty good in japanese but japanese singers just don't got this strong sound in their voice like americans or germans. The song is good but if she would sing some parts more strong it would sound way better

  • hmmm. The language didn't fit that well. The singer had to squeeze some of the words. :P

  • kanojo wa ningyo-hime, ninge no kuni ikitaikeredo....kawaii koto desu ne!...

  • oh japan...i love you so much....<3 <3 <3 <3 from Greece..σ`αγαπω

  • wow is soo good in japanese version love ariel

  • This song always touches my heart.

  • @Strifenhart ikr

  • What the Japanese are really good at, is making lyrics that are vague and weird and not have an obvious meaning XD

  • the japanese words are synced up so nicely with her mouth movements. i love it so much... if the japanese can dub so well for english language movies why can't english dubbers (is that even a word) dub japanese movies well. there are so many japanese shows and movies that have been dubbed but they look so forced.

  • This sounds very beautiful, but I feel the english power has slightly more.. power behind it.

  • I am just wondering about the lyrics - when she ask what fire is, and then she ask if she would burn, because she loves humans. All I can think is "How does she know?!" and "wow, religious much.."

But yeah, she sounds good :)

  • @FromRamlose that is just a just a Japanese metaphor lol

  • I am Polish and I think the best is version in my language. Meaning of words is much diffrend than in this, but I like this version :-)

  • There is something interestingly odd about these lyrics. 誰かを / 好きだと / 燃えるって ("When I love someone, will it burn?") Seems random, right? "What's a fire and why does it - what's the word? / Burn? / When's it my turn? Wouldn't I love, love to / explore that world up above?"

If "wouldn't I love, love" was misheard as "When I love, love" and "When's it my turn?" misconstrued as "When it's my turn?", then wouldn't the Japanese lyrics make more sense?

  • This Japanese version is very beautiful.

  • These lyrics don't make any sense whatsoever. "I wonder what a fire looks like. Someone." What the heck? English is way better.

  • @AwesomerThanGilbird7

i was confused about that part too so i watched it again and it's actually saying "what does it mean when fire's burning? It's funny that on land people 'burn' when they fall in love with someone"...

  • @clotwortorange No, I believe YOU are ruining this video by posting hateful comments.

And no, haters dont gotta hate, so stfu.

  • why are the lyrics different?

  • @bcollier95 *facepalms*

  • @Gureishia ?????

  • Awesome!!!!

  • wow there's in japan also two dubs! same here in finland and the same years too :''D

  • Have you seen the live version by Hirahara Ayaka? I wish she had been around to sing this when it first came out.

  • Anyone else Japanese is a beautiful language?

  • @cartooncrazy122 Japanese IS a pretty language. I kinda like the songs better in Japanese than in English. I think this is a really pretty song. :)

  • A WHOLE NEW WORLDもそうだけど日本語訳で歌うの難しい。

  • Sadly, japanese doesn't really suit Walt Disney's melodies... Still, the song is beautiful.^^

  • woooow this gave me the chils :DD awesome! <3

  • Wow!

  • i like it more the version of 1989!! it's so nice

the version of 1999 it's so bored

  • No matter the language, this song still has not failed to bring me chills..

  • Just a question, do you know why did made two different version of the song?

  • this is not right !!!!

i have the japanese movie and she says diff thing when she sings the song did someone cover this or something ?

  • @mayum345 There are actually two different dubbed versions of The Little Mermaid. One from 1989 (which is this one) and one from 1999. I bet the movie you have is from 1999. :)

  • @FolkBallad why did they dub it twice?

  • @mayum345 I know what you mean, I think the same thing every time I watch a vid of the english version of Pocahontas :/

  • @mayum345 I know what you mean, I think the same thing every time I watch a vid of the english version of Pocahontas :/

  • @mayum345 yeah i know japanese ( somehow) and it dose'nt fit with the lyric

  • do you have the romaji lyrics?

But I think your Japanese is pretty good.

  • @sbin318 Aaaahhh!! I can't believe I didn't catch those! Thanks so much. I'll definitely be making corrections when I next get the chance! :)
