Fagots man nuclear weapons are destructive and a government won't use them unless of an alien attack which is 1 in 100,000 chance and you make it sound like it will be used in the first day of a war
@gamepro217 yeah untill that fear and pain of war goes away then people will use it again. its just gonna be a cycle. and as people say history repeats itself
@gamepro217 Sorry to say this but a nuclear stockpile is analogous to a game of Jenga. One by one, the blocks are removed from the lower layers and placed up top.Eventually the tower becomes inherrently unstable and topples. The same can be said for nukes, only instead of taking away, we're adding. One by one, the stockpile gets bigger. Empires come and go. Former stable owner nations may well become politically unstable. Yes, a tenuous peace has been 'maintained'. But this WON'T last forever!
@K1w1scot Russia and the United States are politically stable right now and will probably be for a long time. Other countries like Pakistan and North Korea for example don't have enough to threaten us. Most people aren't insane enough to use nuclear weapons anyway.
@gamepro217 Gee Dubya's administration was hardly what you'd class as being stable. As for Russia...what about all the other former Soviet Union states that still hold nuclear weapons?
@K1w1scot The post Soviet states like Kazakhstan and Ukraine are politically stable to some degree. They don't have psychotic generals lusting over the bomb since most of their generals have prior experience in the Red Army and Air force. Most people excluding Islamic extremists are not willing to destroy each other even if they are unstable.
This is total granola eating hippie horse hockey. Total extreme leftist fantasy and propaganda. People like the ones who made this make me ashamed to be a Liberal.
the whole issue is that terrorist may and probably do have thier hands on nuclear weapons and if not then it will not be too awfully hard to obtain...if you look in the kennedy situation its all set for retalliation, if you shoot me ill show you and we minaswell blow em all up if we are goin to be taken out...that the mind set
There is no country that can be trusted to do what is needed for the interests of the world, ever. There is no one in any government that knows how to tell the truth. All the leaders have at one time or other been murdering cut throats and deceitful thieves. They have their 'greedy hands' on WMD and willingly sacrifice the lives of earth's inhabitants for evil gain and power. They can never be trusted, ever.
If every nuclear weapon on earth were used at once, it would not kill all human beings, much less all life. These weapons are truely terrible, but not the doomsday devices you think they are. Do a little research, will you. Some areas of the earth would receive almost no nuclear strikes and little if any delayed fallout. Read Alas Babylon, not On The Beach.
lmao abolish nuclear weapons, Well first of all, a nuclear war head does not have to be used to destroy a country, but rather keep countries from being destroyed. If you were the leader of a country, would you want to attack another country that has nuclear weapons? no, of course you wouldn't, thats just plain stupid. In return, your nuclear weapons will keep other countries from attacking your country, so as to avoid nuclear war.
@FelchBelcher with multiple bombs with yeilds equivalent to the original tzar design (100mt), it seems quite possible. Maybe not in hours but possibly a day.
@xshalludiex No, that does not even BEGIN to be remotely close to possible in hours, years or centuries. Atomic bombs, "Destroying the entire planet..." is the same as a destroying a boulder with a glass bottle - all you'll end up with is a pile of broken glass and a scratched boulder.
@FelchBelcher I think I may have worded the response wrong. Nuclear bombs wont physically blow the earth into smitherines, but they could destroy all life on a planet, which consequently will leave it just like you said: A boulder with a bunch of scratches. When most people say destroy the planet, it means destroy all life and leave it maimed and uninhabitable.
@xshalludiex That is not possible. The impact that killed the dinosaurs, in addition to releasing trillions of rads of radiation, was hundreds of orders of magnitude greater than every atomic/hydrogen bomb combined. It made many species extinct but it did not come remotely close to destroying all life and make the planet uninhabitable. There are four words in the science community you very rarely hear, "All, none, never" and "always," because 99.999% of the time those words simply don't apply.
@FelchBelcher You're right, the ones who survived that impact were the underground dwellers. Although surface dwellers (like us humans) would be extinct. I just caught that one, I never really thought about that before.
@xshalludiex Not all surface dwellers died off - just the big ones and those that did not live in a heard, colony or flock of some type. Thousands of species of insects did survive, also. I recommend looking up and reading about the P-T extinction "Great Dying" (before K-T). It was, by far, the worst extinction event of all. There is still no predominant clue as to what did it. If you go back even more, the Carboniferous extinction was even worse then the K-T. A-bombs have nothing on nature.
@FelchBelcher Ive heard of the Carboniferous extinction but never knew what it was. Thanks. While they may not void the planet of life, Thermonuclear bombs can still cause a massive blow to the balance of our ecosystems. In a theoretical standpoint, there would be no denying it.
@TheRandomness4us No, not even a gamma ray burst would destroy all living things. Did you EVER hear that Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings resulted in 'ALL' inhabitants of either city being killed? - NO! about 2/3 survived.
one last thing... i have seen with my very eyes how by simply digging under the surface of a landfill a drum of nuclear waste is easily found... furthermore that matirial can be purified and fissioned by any simple lab in the world, youre couse is dead...
foolish... complete nuclear disarmamenti is an imposibility, not only dous every one of the wepons you listed as banned still exist but they are fabricated en masse, the reoson were armed with nuclear armament is becouse there is no real way to be sure no one else has them, since the end of the cold war thousands of physicists went without a job, most of them from the USSR, and since nuclear matirial can be easily produced or found even everywhere...
Yes as my country is in nato, i dont thrust USA not to bomb us.
i want that germany gets a anti ballistic missile. or that every country abolishes nbc weapons.
imagine your simply burning or your dying within 10 days of puking and you get thinner and only your bomnes stay. or you stop to breatch because of a chemical weapon....
That's all fine and good, but with no Nuclear weapons, there would be another world war. With nothing keeping back other countries but conventional warfare.
Also, if 1 country disarms and everyone else doesn't, then that 1 country is left open. The only thing preventing the third world war from the 50-90's was the threat of MAD (Mutually assured destruction).
"we've outlawed landmines and chemical/biological weapons" ... but some countries still use them... The truth is there can be no laws governing war other than the natural one - an opponent will seek to overcome the other - by whatever means IT deams appropriate. - We are better with a stalemate.
honestly if i wanted to die by ny weapon it woul dbe a nuclear blast, as long as i'm close enough i'll be disingrated in a instant. people will never get rid of weapons, and convential weapons are probably a much worse way to die than nukes, but yeah i'd support outlawing bio/chemical weapons. Seriously, rather die with half your body blown to bits and you scream as you wait for deth, or not even know what hit you until your in heaven.
America will never let it happen. Lol. We haven't even outlawed landmines and we're building new biolabs. Don't think the Chinese or Russians are any better.
Regards to Myth 6: It is utopian to think nuclear weapons will be banned. It's as useless as banning guns. The example of bio-weapons and chemical weapons is a bad one. The United States still maintains a chemical and bio-agent reserve arsenal, as does Russia, Britain, France, China, North Korea, and so-on. Chemical weapons were also banned by the Hague convention in 1905. Literally ten years later they were being used.
i have onced been warned by a man in a small villige to watch my step and not enter a zone nerby since a terrorist group had planted landmines in the zone to keep intruders away
Regards to Myth 1: Nuclear weapons can't destroy the Earth. Even at the height of Cold War arsenals a all-out nuclear war would destroy all civilization in the Northern hemisphere and cause massive die-back in the Southern hemisphere, but life would continue. The Earth has suffered worse and recovered.
Theres roughly 200 countries on the planet. Theres 26,000 nuclear devices... That means if all weapons were activated, every country could get hit by 130 atomic blasts... This is a serious threat and these weapons MUST be taken care of immediately.
When even Reagan's Secretary of State George Schultz and Mikhail Gorbachev talk about abolishing nuclear weapons, maybe it's time for these arm chair analysts to pay attention.
It's too late to disarm all nukes but we should disarm the majority of them.
We cannot let other minority countries make them that is for sure, they don't have the proper discipline to not use them and the proper protection from other countries taking over or using them to make nukes for profit.
We need a few because others won't go to 0 nukes but on the otherhand nuclear decay may have disarmed much of the nukes we already have, making the older nukes duds or even weaken the damage it does.
you only need knowledge to build weapons but to avoid using them you need wisdom, and that's a totally different thing. We're not wiser than our ancestors, though we know more and can kill in more effective ways.
as much as I'd like to see nuclear weapons removed from the planet, you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube...no matter how great of an idea it is.
the real intension for nuclear technology was for renewable energy we haven't quite discovered the works of fusion but it makes an effective alternative to it for now funny how it just so happens that japan is our leading source of our technology and i hope that there is a next nuclear world war it WILL be the end of humanity and Einstein quoted "AS LONG AS THEIR ARE MEN THEIR WILL ALWAYS BE WARS" so i say fuck humanity let's become like the dinosaurs the world will be better off without us
As an IR scholar, I've become opposed to the notion of nuclear disarmament on the simple basis that it is unattainable. Unless we can guarentee, 100%, that every single state will abandon nuclear weapons, and every single non-state actor as well, and that we can wipe out the technical means to create them, then we will always have nukes - whether we like them or not.
It's not nice, no. But once you have them, they're almost impossible to get rid of.
Great idea, but how would you enforce it? We know Iran wants nukes and will probably use them as soon as they get them. If we disarm how could you enforce a truce?
Your an idiot and need a history lesson. I believe all countries should have the right to own nuclear weapons as it prevents the ideal of nuke first then we nuke you. as a result countries who are educated would know there be no survivors. As a result it more just a stand by weapon but mostly a relic. Also Do some real history on nuclear weapon test sites before you spout misinformation. People like you are just as dangerous as idiots that spout hate.
HAHA! "We've banned landmines, chemical weapons and biological weapons...". Try keeping up with current events before your final edit next time.
Though treaties have been put together trying to put such bans into effect, several countries, MOST NOTABLY THE UNITED STATES, have refused to sign these agreements. We still have landmines as well as weaponized chemical and biological agents.
Yes, but the effects reach across its borders. The USSR did not even dare to use it on it Western Europe because its effects might reach the Soviet Border. Also, Tsar only had half its originally projected power. With new technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if a 200 Mton bomb came out.
There would be a great deal of radiation as i already had said and yes a "nuclear winter" during which there would be a lot of starvation and disease in all countries. I was recently reading a 1987 US (government apparently) prediction for the course of a WW3, and it suggested after all nuclear weapons had been used, fighting would continue although apparently the USSR would be in control of most of Europe and Asia. This video is still pretty much wrong about EVERY SINGLE point it makes though
Even if the one who made such prediction were the US government, future war predictions in general tend to be inaccurate. What happened to the direct US-USSR confrontation so many feared? It did not.
We cannot estimate the destructive power of future weapons in the present. So we cannot conclude whether or not future nuclear weapons can wipe out the human race. Undeniably though, it can kill billions of people.
the most important myth which some people don't understand is that "nuclear bombs will end human existance". in a total thermonuclear war, thousands of warheads would be launched and millions killed, mostly in cities such as new york, moscow, london and beijing. further millions would be killed by radiation and fallout. most of the world's population would remain. there are 6 billion people, and it is not possible to kill them all
yes in areas in test sights. wait and see on relics that will never be launched. everyone knows there are no survival from a full nuclear war. this all hyped bullshit, to scare people into false realities. even with terrorists. even they know that single nuke attack would mean there home countries of religion would disappear off the planet into atomic dust so lets be realistic.
Man, get the facts right. In a global nuclear war every country would be nuked so it would be even.
IF you ever did even high school physics and have a moderate knowledge of nuclear weapons, you would know:
1. Nuclear weapons aren't detonated on the ground, they are detonated hundreds of feet in the air.
2. All tests now (non above ground testing treaty) are conducted underground, and therefore an equlibrium is reached, no force in unbalanced and the earth doesn't move.
man, I was talking about that hand guns kill thausends of people every year ant that nukes are probably never gonna used in war. Oh and yeah, Earth does move with these blasts, and in was situation, I think that they are detonated in ground.
They are now, the person behind this video is spreading unneeded fear because they think they have a cause or they are trying to get people to rally about something that keeps countries safe that have them from invasion.
Yeah, this is bull. You say that getting rid of nuclear weapons is our only hope, but that'll never happen. Even if we did, the world would be a more terrible place.
Just think: If it weren't for nuclear weapons, the Cold War would've built up into world war 3. We probably wouldn't be here today, either.
We have not outlawed land mines, or chemical weapons. The US refuses to sign the Ottawa treat, and under the Chemical Weapons convention, we are still allowed to have chemical weapon stockpiles. And of course, even plenty of countries who signed and ratified these treaties break them anyway. I saw many other errors in your film, but these facts were so off I could cite specific treaties. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about and did no research.
You are right. These are myths that people may not articulate, but that are there. The only way to raise awareness is through constant dialogue and bringing these issues to the surface. The very future of humanity depends on finding common ground to understand that we all lose in a nuclear war. We must find alternatives to violence in settling disputes.
This is stupid. These aren't myths, you just created questions that you have good answers to.
And im sorry but unless u turn into a pretty high ranking official there is fuck all you can do about it. You really think every country will get rid of every single bomb when it is often the only leverage they have to avoid war?? And just how the fuck do we do that anyway???
Nukes are here deal with it pray there is never a world war 3, which at the moment nukes are ironically preventing.
you'd have to be a complete and total fucking moron to think that this video is nothing but propoganda. the world's a nuclear time bomb, ticking and waiting to go off. it's only a matter of time, unless we act now.

Biological and chemical weapons were outlawed because:
-they were ineffective
-easily countered (gas masks)
-but mainly because nuclear weapons were far more effective weapons of mass destruction.
Land mines were banned because they were no longer useful also more trouble than they were worth.

K1w1scot 9 months ago
@K1w1scot Russia and the United States are politically stable right now and will probably be for a long time. Other countries like Pakistan and North Korea for example don't have enough to threaten us. Most people aren't insane enough to use nuclear weapons anyway.
gamepro217 9 months ago
@gamepro217 Gee Dubya's administration was hardly what you'd class as being stable. As for Russia...what about all the other former Soviet Union states that still hold nuclear weapons?
K1w1scot 9 months ago
@K1w1scot The post Soviet states like Kazakhstan and Ukraine are politically stable to some degree. They don't have psychotic generals lusting over the bomb since most of their generals have prior experience in the Red Army and Air force. Most people excluding Islamic extremists are not willing to destroy each other even if they are unstable.

Read Alas Babylon, not On The Beach.
geinman1287 1 year ago
lmao abolish nuclear weapons, Well first of all, a nuclear war head does not have to be used to destroy a country, but rather keep countries from being destroyed. If you were the leader of a country, would you want to attack another country that has nuclear weapons? no, of course you wouldn't, thats just plain stupid. In return, your nuclear weapons will keep other countries from attacking your country, so as to avoid nuclear war.

@FelchBelcher
Nope, sadly it's true. The thing is it's not ONE nuke that can destroy entire planet. It's like 1/4 of them fired... not even at the same time.
Ecological damage and the destruction from the explosions themself can make the planet uninhabitable.

@FelchBelcher with multiple bombs with yeilds equivalent to the original tzar design (100mt), it seems quite possible. Maybe not in hours but possibly a day.
xshalludiex 1 year ago
@xshalludiex No, that does not even BEGIN to be remotely close to possible in hours, years or centuries. Atomic bombs, "Destroying the entire planet..." is the same as a destroying a boulder with a glass bottle - all you'll end up with is a pile of broken glass and a scratched boulder.
FelchBelcher 1 year ago
@FelchBelcher I think I may have worded the response wrong. Nuclear bombs wont physically blow the earth into smitherines, but they could destroy all life on a planet, which consequently will leave it just like you said: A boulder with a bunch of scratches. When most people say destroy the planet, it means destroy all life and leave it maimed and uninhabitable.
xshalludiex 1 year ago
@xshalludiex That is not possible. The impact that killed the dinosaurs, in addition to releasing trillions of rads of radiation, was hundreds of orders of magnitude greater than every atomic/hydrogen bomb combined. It made many species extinct but it did not come remotely close to destroying all life and make the planet uninhabitable. There are four words in the science community you very rarely hear, "All, none, never" and "always," because 99.999% of the time those words simply don't apply.
FelchBelcher 1 year ago
@FelchBelcher You're right, the ones who survived that impact were the underground dwellers. Although surface dwellers (like us humans) would be extinct. I just caught that one, I never really thought about that before.
xshalludiex 1 year ago
@xshalludiex Not all surface dwellers died off - just the big ones and those that did not live in a heard, colony or flock of some type. Thousands of species of insects did survive, also. I recommend looking up and reading about the P-T extinction "Great Dying" (before K-T). It was, by far, the worst extinction event of all. There is still no predominant clue as to what did it. If you go back even more, the Carboniferous extinction was even worse then the K-T. A-bombs have nothing on nature.
FelchBelcher 1 year ago
@FelchBelcher Ive heard of the Carboniferous extinction but never knew what it was. Thanks. While they may not void the planet of life, Thermonuclear bombs can still cause a massive blow to the balance of our ecosystems. In a theoretical standpoint, there would be no denying it.

-But, these are just my opinions.

I believe all countries should have the right to own nuclear weapons as it prevents the ideal of nuke first then we nuke you. as a result countries who are educated would know there be no survivors.

It depends on the weight and type of bomb, not even the Tsar bomba (world's largest)is enough to wipe out even a minute part of russia
Finn2thec0re 3 years ago
Yes, but the effects reach across its borders. The USSR did not even dare to use it on it Western Europe because its effects might reach the Soviet Border. Also, Tsar only had half its originally projected power. With new technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if a 200 Mton bomb came out.
ctg0526 3 years ago
There would be a great deal of radiation as i already had said and yes a "nuclear winter" during which there would be a lot of starvation and disease in all countries. I was recently reading a 1987 US (government apparently) prediction for the course of a WW3, and it suggested after all nuclear weapons had been used, fighting would continue although apparently the USSR would be in control of most of Europe and Asia. This video is still pretty much wrong about EVERY SINGLE point it makes though
gagggot 3 years ago
Even if the one who made such prediction were the US government, future war predictions in general tend to be inaccurate. What happened to the direct US-USSR confrontation so many feared? It did not.
We cannot estimate the destructive power of future weapons in the present. So we cannot conclude whether or not future nuclear weapons can wipe out the human race. Undeniably though, it can kill billions of people.

this video's bullshit.
it looks like a naive 8 year old made it.
the most important myth which some people don't understand is that "nuclear bombs will end human existance". in a total thermonuclear war, thousands of warheads would be launched and millions killed, mostly in cities such as new york, moscow, london and beijing. further millions would be killed by radiation and fallout. most of the world's population would remain. there are 6 billion people, and it is not possible to kill them all
gagggot 3 years ago
can you say fallout3?
maglight117 3 years ago
yes in areas in test sights. wait and see on relics that will never be launched. everyone knows there are no survival from a full nuclear war. this all hyped bullshit, to scare people into false realities. even with terrorists. even they know that single nuke attack would mean there home countries of religion would disappear off the planet into atomic dust so lets be realistic.

SirPwn4lot 3 years ago
man, I was talking about that hand guns kill thausends of people every year ant that nukes are probably never gonna used in war. Oh and yeah, Earth does move with these blasts, and in was situation, I think that they are detonated in ground.
