@TrainingStream....saw both bands in '83 and '84 respectively. It was no contest. Night Ranger was superior by a long shot. Leppard was wasted, out of tune, and sloppy. The Hysteria tour was MUCH better.
6-15-2011. It's no bore. Brad Gillis is 54. Happy Birthday, Brad. Night Ranger will always be one of my favorite bands. And to you wanna be's of today, take note: THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE!!!!
@mkl62 Great post , and very true !!!!! I met Brad before a show in Cleveland , he was a very cool dude . Talked and gave me a pick from his wallet !!!! Brad , You rock !!!!
@bahashawa1 Unfortunately, I have never seen them in person. I've been to a lot of concerts. I went to several when I was in the Navy, stationed in Norfolk, VA (Oct. 1986-Apr. 1990). Night Ranger came through one time, but I either had duty or was out at sea at the time, but that was part of the package and I knew it going in.
@mkl62 I hope you get the chance to see them , they are awesome . Great talents!!!! Sorry to hear you missed them while on duty . I am a guitar player , so I love watching Brad and Jeff , they are great together !!!! Take care man !!!!
Night Ranger and April Wine are the two most talented, uncelebrated bands in the history of rock and roll. These guys need to be in the Hall of Fame TODAY!
Seeing Kelly keagy sing this song in concert was a treat then, and brings back some great memories. As you can see he truly enjoyed perfoming this for the crowd.
this is rock of 80's at its BEST< I saw them live and IT was as good as this as I remember, with the Bullet Boys and Cinderella, Great fucking LIVE BANDS, really good
well uhmmm, Zakk Wylde has talent, Pantera has talent to and uh Ozzy has talent, but Sharon doesn't, and uhmm there are some bands that suck your right, like Limp Bizkit, oh almost forgot Megadeth has talent, G N R has talent, keep going? or is that not talent your thinking of?
Loved this song the 1st time I heard it & it still sounds fresh. When u look at the make up of this band it was almost an accidental supergroup w/ not 1 but 2 amazing guitarists, 2 of the best of their era and beyond, each with a unique sound of their own, a natural frontman in the ever charismatic Jack Blades, a rock solid drummer/ singer combo in Kelly Keagy and the rock & roll version of silent Bob on keyboards. And on top of all that Blades and Watson had the market cornered on puppydog eyes
how about krokus, twisted sisters, motley crue, saxon, MSG, def lappard, vanderburg, ufo, rainbow, truimph, ac/dc,and etc. well they are all esthablished before 2000. i don't think any new band after 2000 can match night ranger. furthermore most new bands today did not produce this type of rock ballard, what a sad thing, as SLADE said in thier rock song "My, Oh! They sound as good live as they do on their recordings....you can't say that about alot of bands. I've heard some bands where I wonder if they even bothered tuning in the same Key if at all. And never mind harmonys... live they totally suck. Im guessing it took 100 takes to get it right in the studio on their recording. These guys do it almost effortlessly.
Jack Blades has the talent. Where are the songs? Where did he go? We need a Hero for the new millenium. If Old Navy can bring back clothes from the 80's, why can we get a band a singer to do the same?
i just seen these guys a few weeks ago. in a little town called wendover. and they fuckin rocked!!!!!! they have lost nothing in all of the years of playing. i would rate it a 10 out of a 10 thanks Night Ranger.
Wow, this song takes me right back to the Fall of 1983 when I was a 19 yr old young buck in love for the first time with his first girlfriend who turned out to be the town skank but I didn't that until three years later after she put me through hell and went on to what she thought we greener pastures until she got pregnant and then suddenly I was the person she was in love with!! Sorry Shank!!
acerman66-Night Ranger owned Rocklahoma '09. Got to meet Brad Gillis backstage just before they went on. They were incredible - better than years gone bye. Totally agree wiith you about today's stuff..it just isn't and never will be.
@acerman66 If I could, I would drag every major music producer in LA and NYC into a big room and ask them, "What in the Hell happened to pop music in the US in the past ten years?" The crap that is produced now makes me want to vomit.
@provorenegade i like the sound of your band! just need to practice a little more on the rythm and vocals but you got it man :) good to know there's still someone out there keeping the old school music alive
Happy Birthday, Kelly. You have been one of my favorite bands. I hope that you all can come to Columbia, SC or Augusta, GA to perform sometime. Many happy returns.
Alright, bulldog867, so, what did ya think? I had a great time-except for the heat! Personally, I thought Night Ranger blew everybody else away!! I got to meet Brad Gillis just before he hit the stage and Stephen Pearcy of Ratt outside their tour bus. Both were very nice and absolutely gorgeous! Hubby's already signed for next year! Hope you enjoyed yourself, too!
I went to high school with Kelly Keagy-small town school, so we all knew each other very well. My friend Tamara(Bitsey to us) is the girl he once knew as a schoolboy-they were very much in love but starcrossed. They are still good friends though.
Awesome! Just got my band t-shirt...the lineup keeps getting more and more incredible...Warrant, Vixen, Great White, Ratt, Skid Row, Twisted Sister, Metal Church, LA Guns,......toooooo many to list here. Can't wait to finish my last week of finals..ughhhh-the timing sucks but I'm still pumped & ready to partehheyhey!
Oh me too! I had this Night Ranger tape and played it over and over and over again!!! I always have loved NR too. As for memories? Oh heck yeah! Great memories of great days. I'm with you on that one!
This song is one of the best songs that NR has created. Something about the lyrics and music that has so much energy. It's a total 80's classic and reminds me of the good times, 'back the day.' God Bless Night Ranger. . .Always!!! Thanks for sharing this awesome video!!!
Brad took the late great guitarist place (Randy Rhoads) when OZZY needed to find a quick replacement circa 1982. Jeff and Brad are also awesome at what they do and Night Ranger's music can really soar as is shown here. Saw Night Ranger open up for the band known as .38 Special in 1983. Both bands put on a very exceptional show. Look 4 "Robin Hood" by 38 Special. It is an awsome instrumental song that really shines when played live with Jeff Carlisi and Don Barnes complementing each others work.
I saw Night Ranger open for KISS way back, right about when Dawn Patrol was released. They were an amazing, I knew they would hit it big...one of my favorite bands. This is probably my favorite NR song, I would love to have the guitar tab.
Back in the day (80's) These guys cam to see our band after one of thier shows, we asked Brad up to play, after he signed my BC rich Bich with a screw driver on the back side, still have it. )
Kelly Keagy is one of the nicest guys I ever met. He's so down to earth and just loves to play. When he's not rockin' NR, look for him in a group called Scrap Metal. Pretty cool shit...lots of vids on Youtube.
You know, I was really jealous when this song was picked up for Ferris Bullers Day off. Especially since Kelly was singing lead vocals. For all of you Night Ranger fans, we thank you for being the best Rock fans in America. We're currently on tour and hope to see you soon. Jack Blades. Night Ranger
No worries, Jack. Kelly got to sing lead on a lot of the hits, but your fans love you a ton. And don't tell anyone I said this, but you're better on the bass player than Kelly ever was on teh drums. Are you coming to Arizona any time soon?
I saw NR play allentown NJ in 83' for the midnight madness tour. Great band, Dawn Patrol is my favorite album, I tried to upload two songs off it in the past, no video, "call my name" and "at night she sleeps", I haven't seen those two on you tube and I would like to get them in last time they didn't upload.
Thanks for the post. Have seen NR back in the 80's and a couple of years ago. Had to be the most talented band back in the day. Shame music is not written and played this way anymore. One of their best songs!

Great music, outstanding guitar!! I remember this concert from listening to it night after night trying to sleep. 'Sing me Away' put me out like a light. (I taped off of the radio way back when it was ok to do so.)
Damn Yankees was good, but not a good as Night Ranger.
Glad to see this on here and thanks from a old to you, Mom who remembers the rock and roll days. :)
oh shit i remember watching this as an mtv concert when i was a kid...i think i recorded it on a vhs tape and wore the fuck out of it! one of the very few 80's pop rock bands that had legitimate substance and talent - i miss this like crazy...thanx 4 posting
Saw them three times over a couple years including this tour, and this song was always my highlight. There's something so right about this so- it's a great single that even the hard rockers of the time were partial to. It takes you back to the early 80s when the Night Rangers of the world were laying the groundwork for the Hair Band ballad explosion soon to follow. Great time warp tune- takes you way back vividly.
Nice vid! I love this song! My favorite NR song. I saw them about this time a Marriott's Great America amusement park in Northern California. At the time $50 would get you a season pass as well a free concerts. Night Ranger, Berlin, Huey Lewis, John Cougar, Y&T, Quarterflash, the days...
Good to see another singing drummer.

What you guys are reacting to is the fact that, in this era, rock music was played by talented musicians that could play, sing and write.
This is no longer the case.
It's like eating a home-cooked meal after McD's for 6 months; "oh, this is what food really is supposed to taste like."

Super Totally Agree with you! Today, that kind of Chemistry in a band, is not only hard to find, i think is lost forever. Long live 80's!!!
