I'm loving the what this movie is showing us but I'm so ashamed that ppl even these days are still as rude, nasty and ignorant and have no shame in leaving distasteful comments after each part of the movie. It's the prejudice ppl in this world that are the problem to ppl who are born challenged and to society!
I too have a son who is autistic. I really feel bad to those who immediately judge kids like my son. It really is very hard to have an autistic child but with love and patience...I know they too can have normal lives. For parents like me...let us not give up...John was non verbal until 6 but with few weeks of speech training he began saying words. We should not let teachers do all the work, we too should take part of it. In time, developments really is a amazing :-)

i think its actually very realistic, i work at a coles super market and a autistic girl around 14 regularly comes in with her parents, she behaves exactly like charlie does, she signs the same way, makes the same 'dah' noises doesn't have any other words, constantly makes that giggly sound and moves around, she has very strict routinues such as signing hi to everyone on checkouts, always getting a coke and ones of those picture books.
i mention the coke bottle thing because one time it was already empty so i went to throw it away and she got really really upset about it. not quite to the extent charlie did in the supermarket but thats only because her dad told me she needs to keep it so i gave it back pretty quickly. i'd say her and charlie are pretty much in the exact same place on the autism spectrum.
