His vocal affections are hideous and ended up taking over his ability to sing lyrics, and he hasn't sung a song live on stage anywhere in over 15 years. Even his 30th anniversary TV special was lipped on his part. He lost his voice long ago.

It was just common sense. That is when MJ was super huge. BJ just came out and all of his videos, so it was a compliment recognizing how huge he was. Now if you go to concerts you will know that almost all singers sing songs of the artist that they like and respect. Madonna was giving MJ a compliment. You have to remember that she later asked him to do a song with her and they attended the grammys together once.

After that she was on his song "keep it in the closet." She's a huge MJ fan.
