Yeah but a lot of Smashing Pumpkins fans say Gish was a bad album. I saw people walkout when Smashing Pumpkins did Siva, Tristessa, and Bury Me live on the 20th anniversary tour. I was thinking "What's wrong with these people god will get them for that." I also don't think people Teargarden By Kaleidescope enough respect sure it's had a few lack luster songs but The Teargarden Theme, Song For A Son, The Fellowship, Tom Tom, Freak, Cottonwood Symphony, and Spangled are all really good.
@DrummerGuy1990 It's because when videos get uploaded to Youtube they go through some rendering process (help me out if you know the technical name anyone) that greatly diminishes the sound quality. Also, people usually make these videos from MP3 and not from the original sound source. MP3 is already an inferior medium over CDs (and for people like me the vinyl), but they are just alot more convenient, especially for portable music and stuff on your computer. But, it's still a bad sound medium.
@BobbyPyn372 Is that what Youtube does as well? Some people don't seem to realize that MP3 is already an inferior medium and listen to MP3 all the time (I'm guilty these days, but only because I live in Korea and all my vinyl and CDs are back in Minnesota). I don't know exactly what Youtube does to the video, but it makes a bad sounding medium sound even worst. I admit that at 320kps there it is unnoticeable sometimes like when you are running. But, in a comparison there is a big difference.
@BobbyPyn372 I don't know what exactly Youtube does to videos, but it likes taking a bad sound, in this case an MP3, and making it worst. I know that MP3s are already a compression of the original sound. Just compare any recording to an MP3. There is a lot of white noise in the background in MP3s. I think the biggest difference is when you compare MP3s to 60s and 70s music on CD or vinyl. You will realize that MP3 are really a inferior medium when compared to the original source.
@fatcatbuzz with all do respect to the uploader's effort, the sound is bad, it has more to do with the MP3 file that he used than with youtube. Listen to this:
@Defsolid Actually, I was going to mention that as well. The person that uploaded this file obviously used an MP3 ripped at a very low sampling rate. I have never understood why people rip their music at the lowest quality possible. It makes no sense to me because MP3s are already an inferior medium to begin with. Youtube definitely makes them sound worst. Just compare the MP3 even to a Youtube clip and you will see that the MP3 even wins out. But, the best mediums are vinyl, CDs and the tape.
@musicaleclecto I already have this album on original vinyl. I also have a copy on my hard drive that I ripped at 320kps. I was just commenting on the inferior sound quality of this upload. The person that uploaded this video use a really lousy digital source.
@musicaleclecto I have 2 copies of each SP albums on vinyl. Even MCIS, some rare 45s and Zwan. In fact, I have one signed from that band when I met them in Minneapolis in 2000.
@Defsolid Well put. With all due respect - This audio is absolutely horrendous - especially when trying to present a Pumpkins song. I listened to 10 secs... going to look for better version...
yeah, they were stupid to get rid of Jimmy for that time period after the overdose. I had tickets to that concert (St. Louis) when that happened...and they postponed the show and had a different drummer. It was disappointing to me.
THIS SOUNDS JUST LIKE BLUE EXCEPT LONGER AND NOT A DEMO

Right now, this is my 3rd favourite SP release after SD and MC&TIS but I haven't given this album a huge listen so this is sure to ascend in my order
