sadly the cost of maintaining such an old bird outweighed the earnings and it was withdrawn.... Airbus should get its act together and design and build Concorde II .....

omg can't believe that it ended due to the french engineers not bothering to look for part of the left gear which was made concorde hit the bit of debris and crash -.- oh yeah and then they found the bit from the gar in the hangar!! should of gone to specsavers =P
Concorde has to be the man’s greatest ever achievement, the most beautiful aircraft ever that was scraped not by an accident but by penny pinching number crunchers. How sad.
@NibiruGroup the plane was rubbish the Concorde was the most beautiful aircraft ever made wow you can tell your from the United States your watching a video off a plane that you say is rubbish i think you just Dont like it because its not American
@lexichronicle Once they find an even more streamline - IF possible - and a more fuel efficient with fast output and Env . Friendly they will probbaly do a retro version. It was an amazing aircarft
@215alessio I Agree The Concord, SST were the pride of the skies like Titanic was the ship of Dreams.. They will return back in the air but more powerful than ever. The crash that stopped the concord wasn't fault of the plane. But from the plane that used the runway before. Who knows maybe we will travel space in a passenger plane.
My late father worked on Concorde for BA and my mum was lucky enough to fly to NY on one of the last flights before it was retired. Brilliant piece of engineering.I saw them being made at the Weybridge factory in 1975, when I was at school.Britain (and France) knew how to make planes then.
It cost $16k ten years ago to fly it from New York to London. It flew at 1350 mph. Their was nothing cheap about that airplane, even the sink in the forward lavatory was nice and you dined on fine china. The port holes were very small making it hard and uncomfortable to see out of. Awesome airplane!
Another reason the Concorde was retired was due to falling fares and the cost to keep it in the air, the two did not balance out and so, they had to ground it. After the demise of flight 4590, that basically put the icing on the cake. Hated to see this beautiful bird get grounded, but at least you can still see one or 2 in museums.
The Concorde was also 'killed' by noise abatement... that bird was beautiful, but also one of the noisiest jets in the air, even at low speed. It was limited as to where it could land partly because of this.
man it sucks that it ran out of servise. Just by a pice of metal by delta airlines. but its last flight was from new york to paris i think with fighter jets along with it. after the crash people started to get scared and dint want to fly on it anymore. My dad has a tag of concorde and puts it on his luggage. to bad i didnt get to see one. it would of have been cool.
Gorgeous Plane should never have been removed from service. Only ever got to see one live taking off from Heathrow one day but what a sight to behold. In answer to your question Calvin all the planes except the one that was lost in Paris are now on public display around the world.
Locations include Manchester Airport, Charles de Gaulle in Paris, Manhatten New York even has one. Theres plenty of information on them online
I'll never forget sitting in a Concorde window seat, G-BOAC 12A, sipping Champagne and listening to Beethoven's Seventh. I savored three magnificent human achievements at once while we passed a 747 which had taken off from DFW a half hour before. It was 1979 and i thought then it was a preview of passenger space flight. Alas! It was not to be in my lifetime.
Unfortunately, it was not economically feasible. It was too costly to operate, and did not seat enough people to bring the per-seat price of the tickets down. In short, it was way too damned expensive
concorde was flying for 27 years and only ever had 1 crash look at planes that have crashed in the past and killed many more than concorde that are still flying
it's sad seeing such marvellous machine retired. richard branson buy them and fly them again please. not that i got enough money to fly in them but i love to see them in the air where they belong
what does wipping people bum's with fingers have to do with this plane??? and sucking pee? what the fuck??? are these gay en posting there fantasies on here?

Yea that sucks. We now put the taxpayer's money to much better use.....paying mortgages of people who shouldn't have bought homes they couldn't afford in the first place.
yes, unfortantly she still wipes his asshole using her own fingers, like they do in several countries in the middle-east. His father helps too with sucking him dry after he´s been peeing..they say so...
it crashed from a piece of rubber on the runway, there was nuthung rong with the plane exept travelling at the speeds it did meant it used ALOT of fuel and they didnot have enuf munee to maintain it
basically i thought they took away concorde because it polluted a lot. dunno if this is true but it could apparently fill a house with co2 in 3 seconds. correct me if im wrong :) was a great plane
It was retired because of cost issues. Airbus and Air France wanted to focus their efforts on more profitable things. BA was hesitant to let go, but Airbus refused.
The conventional wisdom is that the Concorde was taken out of service because of the rise in the price of jet fuel during the first OPEC oil embargo during the l970's. There was also much opposition to the Concorde by "environmentalists". For me, as an aerodynamcist specializing in supersonic flight, the Concorde was one of the most interesting and rewarding developments of my life time, along with landing a man on the moon.
The Concorde was not totally British, the French painted the wings. I would like to join in your futile arguement about which country produces the best planes. I vote for the country that I happen to be born in even though I have nothing to do with planes.
i flew on concorde in 1996 and was awesome. no noise of buffeting at mach 1, lift off is memorable. reheat used on all take offs until noise limitation areas are reached after take off. at full throttle she burns around 7 litres of fuel a second or about 6200 gallons and hour.trust me, i know!!
Comment about VC 10: Production stopped in 1970,It was never faster than Boeing 747, and Boeing 747 is the world's fastest jetliner now that the Concorde doesn't fly anymore. (By the way, the VC 10 had 4 engines in the back, two on each side)
sorry your wrong VC10 has two engines at the backon the tail no engines on the wings
the American KC-10 is a tanker. the (sort of) british Tristar(not a tanker but capeable) also RAF....the two differnt Aircraft Manufacters (wierd huH?) google it
Was an incredible piece of technology that never had any practical place in aviation.. The internet may have been the final nail in it's existence. It became too expensive to fly even for the super rich.. Because of it's runway, noise, and pollution restrictions, it couldn't fly to very many destinations... . Its flights were mainly for the experience of Super Sonic flight.. That said, I wish I could have experienced that ride...
I'm glad to be able to say that I did fly on one of the last flights. It had always been a dream of mine, and I vowed I would get a seat before they shut her down. I got a seat-sale price! I think it was only about $4500! That was for one way on a regular plane and the other on the SST. WE got to choose which we wanted so I decided to come back home on it. It was a great experience, all round. I stole the stuff out of the seatpocket in front of me. And the blanket, with the Concorde label on it.
What killed concorde? The internet! Concorde was designed so that business people could be in two different countries in the same day (London New york) however once the internet was created it made it possible to have a meeting without being face to face
twas the French... they couldn't look after the damn thing, if they'd maintained it correctly it would still be flying & the underwriters wouldn't have pulled the plug
Actually Concorde was killed by the internet. The idea of it was to transport business people from one side of the world to another so they could be at meetings in the same day. Once the internet came about business meeting could be done via e-mail or online video calls so the demand for concorde dropped and they ran out of money.
I find it hilarious how touchy Americans seem to be about Concorde. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that it's one of the most beautiful and spectacular aircraft and was conceived OUTSIDE America!
This plane was bought from a german Plane-Museum for only 1€. It was the last concorde and now you can see it in Sinnsheim near Speier or Speyr.. i dont know how it calls :P but i was in this plane u can go into it.. there are no seats but its n1 for sure.. when you walk in it you think u fly..
wow you really are dumb arnt you the concord was put out of production because the US government didnt allow for supersonic speed because of the 'sonic boom' and if they couldnt do that there was no point to the aircraft because it was designed for super sonic flight
you realise your both right, The US goverment didn't let concord go supersonic over US soil. If they had, concord would have been snapped up by all major US carriers.
And Concord finally bit the bullet after becoming to much to run. Only wish Branson had his way and kept them in the sky
sadly the cost of maintaining such an old bird outweighed the earnings and it was withdrawn.... Airbus should get its act together and design and build Concorde II .....

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we like to watch aeroplane?
(3) Why do we enjoy to watch aeroplane from different angle? (eg. from the sides, from bottom, from the top, from the front, from behind)
(4) Why do we like to heard the sound of an concorde?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your create ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

I think the fastest passenger airliner in the world is now the Tuplolev TU-154.

One thing I don't understand about Concorde..
Where's all it's fuel? The wings and under carriage is incredibly small?
P0P357UR3 3 years ago
I believe it's stored around the fuselage. At high speeds, they shift it to adjust the aircrafts center of balance.

Oh nice, thank you.

There is some in the wings, that's what caused the fire in the Paris crash.

the fastest passenger aircraft today is the VC10 OHHHYEA and its in service with the RAF and is a passenger and tanker aircraft
Cool he?

Thats a modified version of the DC-10 like the KC-10? Im just guessing, but it has a fuel extension tube right?
AirDude1213 4 years ago
sorry your wrong VC10 has two engines at the backon the tail no engines on the wings
the American KC-10 is a tanker. the (sort of) british Tristar(not a tanker but capeable) also RAF....the two differnt Aircraft Manufacters (wierd huH?) google it

I'd do the same thing

What killed concorde? The internet! Concorde was designed so that business people could be in two different countries in the same day (London New york) however once the internet was created it made it possible to have a meeting without being face to face
wil6817 4 years ago
twas the French... they couldn't look after the damn thing, if they'd maintained it correctly it would still be flying & the underwriters wouldn't have pulled the plug
V92stormriders 3 years ago
Actually Concorde was killed by the internet. The idea of it was to transport business people from one side of the world to another so they could be at meetings in the same day. Once the internet came about business meeting could be done via e-mail or online video calls so the demand for concorde dropped and they ran out of money.
wil6817 3 years ago
uhhh....then why do people still fly to go to meetings?! hmmmm.....
bobeo101x3x3 3 years ago
Because they dont need to be there a few hours after a different meeting. If they did they would use the internet

I find it hilarious how touchy Americans seem to be about Concorde. Maybe it's something to do with the fact that it's one of the most beautiful and spectacular aircraft and was conceived OUTSIDE America!

yes but like my lady friend says Concorde she is the queen Bitch of the skys
DrRiderX 4 years ago
wow you really are dumb arnt you the concord was put out of production because the US government didnt allow for supersonic speed because of the 'sonic boom' and if they couldnt do that there was no point to the aircraft because it was designed for super sonic flight
USBrooks 4 years ago
Hey USBrooks screw you they put it out of buisness because it cost to much to operate after it crashed in paris. Dumbass
maverick967 4 years ago
you realise your both right, The US goverment didn't let concord go supersonic over US soil. If they had, concord would have been snapped up by all major US carriers.
And Concord finally bit the bullet after becoming to much to run. Only wish Branson had his way and kept them in the sky
