  • @huntman125 spinnerbaits no idk about crankbaits.

  • Nice haul. I have a soft spot for herpetology, so it was a special treat to see the Northern Map Turtle.

  • so you take juvenile fish from the river and put them in a private pond... i need to get a pond and so that

  • is that a burbot at 0:55?5* I love MI. I live in Kalamazoo. Ever go to DnR sports?

  • it is a bowfin or amia calva. they are loaded in the kalamazoo river. especially below the dam at 11 or 13 mile road (i think it is one of those roads.)

  • Hey. Just got out for a short little float down a creek I found. If you are ever in the northern Wisconsin area (Lake Tomahawk, Hayward) Make sure you go to Bearskin creek. It connects two larger lakes. I slammed the brownies, and caught a few decent northern and pike. It's actually wide enough (About 10 - 15 feet) To effectively use that fly rod. It's fairly slow moving, so you don't need an anchor. My Mini X has made an awesome addition to my fleet.

  • How would the MI DNR feel about the seining and transporting of sublegal fish to private ponds and aquariums?

  • Catching Grass Pike (esox americanus americanus) and placing them into an aquarium is LEGAL.

There are no size limits for warmouth and bluegill. It is legal to bring them home and place them into your aquarium.

We were not using a seine. We are using a hand net.

All northern pike were immediately returned.

Catching bass from my dad's pond, and placing them into my dad's friend's pond is LEGAL.

    Thanks for your concern.

  • Thanks for your clarification on the grass pike. Are they available in most warmwater Michigan rivers?

  • They are very prevalent in Michigan. Try any weedy and swampy area in a river that is 10 yards wide. They are also common in lakes.

Be sure you know how to identify the difference between musky, northern pike, and grass pike.

I know they have been caught all the way north to Ludington.

  • OPPS...

I made a mistake. I meant to say esox americanus vermiculatus.

    bitter

  • hey how did u get the fish to just swim in ur hand and where was that river? can u respond?

  • should i try in the spring fall? summer whens the best time probaly

  • i actually prefer the fall all the way upto and just before freeze up.

the water is cool to cold and highly oxgenated which means high survival rates. also, the water is usually low.

    bitter

  • well weedy parts of it?

  • yeah cuz i live in minnesota i usually fish at dams alot u think i got any chances by dams?

  • @k0ud3ad

hard to say. give it a go fo sho.

you dont have any grass pike, chain pickerel, or red fins, but you do have northern pike and musky.

i prefer shallow weedy areas of rivers and lakes.

    bitter

  • also where could i locate the baby pikes?

  • northern pike are very wide spread in the midwest and north eastern states. not so much in the south, and in the west. grass pickerels are in the midwest and north east.

chain pickerels are from maine to florida.

red fin pickerels are on the east coast as well, but i do no know their southern and northern limit.

    good luck.

remember, pickerel and pike are the holy grail of fish keeping.

    bitter

  • hey where can i find baby pikes? and net them in lakes, rivers or ponds? and in grassy parts or>? cuz i want pikes for my 100 gall tank so if u can reply reply to me thx.

  • just go to any weedy shallow portion of any body of water. get a hand net or seine and rip the net thru the weeds.

    GAME ON!!!

    best served with two people.

make sure the body of water has pike in it.

  • great video as always bitter! Thanks for sharing

  • You guys look liked you had fun. Some of this fish seemed to just swim into your hand.
